What really steams me about feminism is that there was a time that it really was about equality. If a woman wanted to be a doctor, the best she could hope for was to be a nurse.

Yes it does. Non-rational (in this case) is describing the status of an argument, while saying someone is "not a rational" is referring to that person's identity, type, or character. The two are completely different.

Then an example was presented. Whilst i agree that UK newspapers are in decline having worked in a news the last 10 years i don't think their circulation figures are in decline soley because of their extreme views. though i don't buy a paper (the ink transport gets on my nerves to no end) i still look to youtube and their websites online. You can't really beat the convience of checking them online. I like to think that by reading them all as i would do and still do to an extent you get a much rounder view.
It's not really a question of extremism, but one of quality. For example, in the Guardian this week there was another article attacking boys. This one was by Beatrix Campbell asking why oh why oh why do some boys carry knives? The thing is, the answer to this has been well-known for decades. Knives are a compensation for a perceived self-deficiency. Yet this was never covered. I'll add that Campbell used to be a "top" academic --a professor at a university. (But in Wimmin's Studies!)

It would be ideal but in nature, one will always be more dominant. Either we have a patriarchy or a matriarchy. Patriarchies create successful societies while matriarchies create absolutely nothing.

I always thought that patriarchy meant a system in which the father (or similar) had absolute authority, In western society nobody can claim absolute authority, politicians can be replaced, business people can be penalised by the government and people are ruled by law. I may be mistaken but this was my interpretation.

What really steams me about feminism is that there was a time that it really was about equality. If a woman wanted to be a doctor, the best she could hope for was to be a nurse.
But now the opportunities are there. Women are becoming doctors, lawyers and scientists. And they are respected in their fields of choice. Now the movement has lost its way and has become the anthesis of what it originally set out to do.

the david reimer case fails to show that gender is not socially constructed since his upbringing was so unlike any girlhood that i am aware of. hormone treatment, surgery, etc.
besides, a woman's gender may be socially constructed and it might also be true that only a girl can be made into a woman.

you make the same mistake in this video as in 'what is feminism?': you slide from differences in men and women to genetic differences. that's fallacious. you can't infer from physical differences in male and female brains to these having a genetic basis. and the case of the girl raised by dogs illustrates very clearly just how malleable human behavior is, which was all i took it to be cited for (not to show that we are a tabula rasa).

how does speculating about what i want to believe relevant to the issue? this is the kind of pop psychology that doesn't help discussing an issue. so, rather than waste time doing that, cite some studies. i'm especially interested in ones that control for toddlers and infants being treated in a gendered way. you'll also need to cite studies that show that such differences account for differences in adult brains. as for cross-cultural similarities, this need not have a genetic basis.

I would say that most of the triumphs attributed to feminism are overrated. That's not to say there isn't regional progress attributal to it. Hysterical feminists just can't help themselves proclaiming the contemporary status of women, entirely to their dogmatic activism.

Now most men still do tremendously shitty work at work (some occupy greater comfort courtesy of advance) while most women attend to housework that is pale in comparison to the housework of old, or men's work of present. Or, predominate comfortable office space and secretarial counters.

Exactly. Women get to choose what they want out of life - not men. A woman can choose to be a stay at home mother or go to work and nobody has a problem with that. Men however are expected to work and that's it. If a man isn't working people say, "he's no man at all". And most of the time it's women that say this. They expect and force men to work through government backing and courts, yet they bitch about equality when men expect them to cook and clean the home while they are away at work.

The difference is that men and MRA's aren't seeking the advancement of male privilege the way feminists are (based on bs studies and faulty logic and boogeyman patriarchy).
MRA's are seeking equal rights before the law: in education, health care, family rights, and worker rights.
Women enjoy increasingly stronger government-approved discrimination and advantage in all those areas.

I've only scratched the surface, so mileage may vary. But so far, the way by which I'm coming to understand the "Communist Manifesto" is as the Bourgeoisie can only see the products of their work as a means to making profit. Where as the proletariat can see the splendor of their work for what it is, beyond just the profit margin. The proletariat take control over industry, not out of a sense of victimhood, but out of a rhapsodic and Faustian drive to create and make a better world.

when you consider BoundlessEyes argument it would seem to be irrational though.there are numerous different descriptions of patriarchy in the Encyclopedia if you care to read it/them all from the differing standpoints/viewpoints. one even includes feminism which disagree with all previous definitions such stated inc. the one quoted from which Argus was addressing. It should make you think just exactly which definition is correct.

Yes it does. Non-rational (in this case) is describing the status of an argument, while saying someone is "not a rational" is referring to that person's identity, type, or character. The two are completely different.
If YOU want to infer that a person is non-rational (or not a rational) because they have said something that is non-rational, that's a reflection of how you understand the world and the people in it, not how ArgusEyes has described it.

re: non-rational. Argus-Eyes could have written more clearly. You'll note that the quote was preceded with "the term [Patriarchy] seems to encapsulate whatever feminists want it to". Then an example was presented. Clearly, when ArgusEyes says "non-rational", he was referring to the logic of predicating the definition of a phenomena (in this case Patriarchy) on the desires of those defining the term rather than on real world evidence.

In one UK newspaper that supports feminism offensive articles totally ignorant of the facts are posted regularly by feminist commentators. And the same myths are run over again in different articles on different days by different authors.
Is it any surprise that newspapers are going into steady decline with the rubbish they expect us to swallow? People are now turning to blogs and channels like this one for their facts.

Whilst i agree that UK newspapers are in decline having worked in a news the last 10 years i don't think their circulation figures are in decline soley because of their extreme views. though i don't buy a paper (the ink transport gets on my nerves to no end) i still look to youtube and their websites online. You can't really beat the convience of checking them online. I like to think that by reading them all as i would do and still do to an extent you get a much rounder view.

It's not really a question of extremism, but one of quality. For example, in the Guardian this week there was another article attacking boys. This one was by Beatrix Campbell asking why oh why oh why do some boys carry knives? The thing is, the answer to this has been well-known for decades. Knives are a compensation for a perceived self-deficiency. Yet this was never covered. I'll add that Campbell used to be a "top" academic --a professor at a university. (But in Wimmin's Studies!)

I'd just like to take this opportunity to thank you, Argus. I've begun worrying in the past month or so that I may be on the "wrong" side of this issue, but I couldn't find anyone that would be simplistic and logical about the whole issue. I wanted to be fair to the feminists and give them their shake, but I could never find someone as articulate as you and pinegrove33.
Hopefully I'll be able to get over my desire to not have to put up with "patriarical socialization" in order to understand.

Yes.. I came over from Boundless' video. I've thought about it a little to figure out whether I can present a real case for patriarchy that requires no conspiracy (as people love to claim) and which is easily explained from verifiable events. I think I can do this for you.
Sadly I can't make the vid for a couple days. Massive project due this Friday and finals next week. Hopefully you are as serious as you say you are about not making up your mind.

On one newspaper blog, one article was presented as a dialogue between two well-known feminist horrors. In the article one of them said that men were "emotional cripples".
I responded by complaining that there were many authors with erudite knowledge on the subject of masculinity but that what we had before us was 2 girls who had never developed beyond the school disco. A reasonable response to an offensive and stupid remark.
My comment got deleted by the newspaper's moderators!

What is important at every step is evidence. What evidence do I have for my claims and what evidence does she have for hers.

I can't say enough good things about your videos. Even though I'm not an athiest and I do not I believe men and women can ever be equals. It would be ideal but in nature, one will always be more dominant. Either we have a patriarchy or a matriarchy. Patriarchies create successful societies while matriarchies create absolutely nothing.

I agree with everything you said except for gender differences. Methinks nurture is a greater force than nature. Some matriarchal societies have women in roles that are considered masculine within western culture such as the Aka people of central Africa.

I always thought that patriarchy meant a system in which the father (or similar) had absolute authority, In western society nobody can claim absolute authority, politicians can be replaced, business people can be penalised by the government and people are ruled by law. I may be mistaken but this was my interpretation.
