  • ahahahahahah John tells the reporter guy his name is Eric ! lmaooo

  • god dammit. part 4 of this has been blocked off in the US. :(

  • hahahahaa that's funny BUT the scream at min 6:30 is totally not of this video!

  • love 'house of the rising sun' it's a great song, but it's always the kinks for me.

  • i could never see them doing a documentary about a young idealist called lil wayne who made a dance move called the infamouse dougie...and then they show that clip where the college women's coach is forced to do it

  • I remember the first time i herd the kinks, All day and all of the night, I must have listened to it 20 times in a row, that song changed my life and launched me into the music world!

  • john lennon is pretty funny when he's being interviewed

  • Never heard of The Animals. They remind me of The Doors.

  • @BananaHurricane the Doors remind me the animals xD

  • What does George say I cannot understand his too soft speak mutter.

  • crappy...annoying...bad documentary

  • Comment removed

  • @atti1488 I'm beginning to agree with you. Care to add a little explanation, though?

  • @Khultan Well, i remember that this video was extremely annoying in many ways, sorry i forgot most of the reasons. The only reason i can remember right now is there's less info and more music videos.it feels like the creator of this videos had nothing to tell so he filled it with full length music videos . i have to watch it again to tell and that i cant do.

  • Reporter: "well john here is the american public, 40 million viewers"

John: "only looks like one man to me"

  • the kinks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • We got a record contract - ROFLMFAO

  • "And, in the end, the love you take/ Is equal to the love you make."

  • This sucks...why can't you view part 4 in the US ???? Wasting time.

  • Shame british music isn't created like this anymore :\

Or perhaps it's just not given enough of a platform, if they were to take the timeslots which they give to X-Factor or other talent contests and put them into somekind of shows of unsigned talent...The music of today would be a lot better :\

  • The KINKS=Hard Rock...

  • John made me laugh.

  • The Animals <3

  • Go Kinks!

  • i was 14 when I heard my first Beatles song Please please me. Someone brought it into school and the teacher allowed it to be played at dinner break. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. From that moment my life changed.

  • @Razamabaz Truly awesome ... :-)

  • @Razamabaz What year?

  • @Khultan God, such a long time ago. It must have been around 62/63.

  • @Razamabaz It was that every instrumental note and vocal was alvie, and near perfect. All of these other groups actually paled in comparison, and now in a way at times the Beatles are "all too much" to comprehend.

  • @DAVWAVE Yep, it was just so different at the time. Their musical genius was there for all to see and hear. Like Stepasaur says above they could play anything. Soft rock, Rock, folk etc. Just like Elvis they changed the face of Pop music. Music today in the main saddens me. Most of it is overhyped crap and sensationalised TV programmes like Xfactor and pop idol do absolutely nothing to further music in my opinion. It's a shame because I am sure the talent is out there.

  • My dad told me that the first time he heard please please me he was sitting in a café. Everyone was chatting away, but during the Beatles song one by one silenced. After the song... we all just sat there, quitely. We knew instantly that the we were listinging to the future.

  • The Kinks are the Balls

  • The BBC interrupted Grandstand (A Saturday afternoon sports programme.) to show The Beatles arriving home from their first US tour. That wouldn't have happened anywhere for any other group!

  • oh its the camera man. lol

  • Man, those bitches at the shea stadium should shut up! I can barely hear the Beatles over the screaming... this was probably why they stopped touring.

  • @kevluv93 Yes, it was one of the main reasons.

  • @kevluv93 Paul McCartney once said the screaming got so loud they could have sang any words they wanted no one would know.

  • did they have monitors on stage at that time? it must have been hard to sing in tune with all the noise but the beatles seem to be on point

  • where s part 6 & 7?

  • The Kinks!

  • what version of the twist is this??

  • the beatles were the beatles, to say that they were GREAT!!!!! would be an understatement. their band name speaks for itself

  • Dave Clark 5, anyone?

  • Funny, I haven't seen the Rutles or Spinal Tap mentioned yet.

  • To clasiffy the beatles in a musical category is useless. The were a cultural phenomena that changed music, art, philosofy, fashion and so many other things.

  • there is not a comparison between beatles and the stones, cause the fav 4 was a country,r&b,soul rock band,in the early days, and the stones have always been an a afro- british blues rock band.

from two different cities sound, two feel and grooves, but i love both, but, artistically and influence, the four young boys from liverpool are better musicians, sofisticates, artistics, cosmopolitans and rokers too..i mean completes and integrals.

  • George Harrison had B.O. that day so McCartney moved over to share Lennon's microphone.

  • where is part 6?

  • Sod Part 6, where's Part 7?

  • the beatles are the best...

  • ok - beetles are the best pop band but the stones the best rock band !!!!!!!!

  • @CapitanoGUC I like the Beatles better than the Stones,, The Stones may outlasted the Beatles as a band but the Beatles music is more better and more honered and universal!!!!!!!

  • @1979cl1 ok - but you can´t compare beatles and stones - stones do rock musik and beatles is just pop. Thats different like Lady Gaga and Motörhead ...:-/

  • @CapitanoGUC I'll say what I can, true the Beatles were pop ROCK in the first place but their music went ROCK in mid 1966 and more serious in 67 and change the face of Rock n Roll forever and can ROCK if they were'nt to break up and for that reason their musis is played in classic rock radio stations along with the Stones, The Who, The Doors, Fleeetwood Mac, AC./DC,the Police and others!!!

  • @1979cl1 yea - then they are stupid radio statons - as they are very often - but beatles nor police is rock musik - you got to live with that

they do good pop musik and i respect there style but just don´t call it rock !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @CapitanoGUC Its still is ROCK!!! And don't compare the Stones with Motorhead,,, The Stones are mellow next to Motorhead and Motorhead Rocks more HARDER!!!!

  • @1979cl1 yea - Mothörhead is the harder end and the stones are on the softer end of the rock´nroll spectrum - but they are still far closer to mothörheat as to the beatles. at that time, there was a conflickt between poppers and rockers ...

  • @CapitanoGUC Yes but the Beatles did not stay in their pop standerd ways as they already went harder in 67 and toward the end of the 60s and more seriuos music along the drugs they experimented. As for Lady Gaga no way she's not anything like the Beatles neither the Jonas Bros or Justine Beiber.

  • @1979cl1 bus still beatles are worldwide rememberd as good and even meaningfull pop band ...:-/ - so it is good stuff but it is still pop !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @CapitanoGUC Say what ever you like thats your opinion and I said the truth and thats all there is to it, they went rock in the late 60s even though they did some nice music but I rest my case that the Beatles are No. 1 and the Stones are second best.

  • @1979cl1 they are number one of po cause there Pop is far more meaninfull then most other bands of this genere - but stones brought the centre of rock´n´roll to euroe

  • i wish i was alive back then

  • You might be dead now.

  • your point?

  • It's obvious. If you were alive then, you will more likely be dead by now.

  • Eric. HAHAHAHAH I LOVE Lennon's sense of humour.

  • "Eric..." LOL !!

  • I have this DVD, with portuguese subtitles

  • Would be great if they re-released it and expanded it to several volumes. There's so much awesome British music to cover.

  • @tunenito

Thanks so much for this, I'm enjoying it immensely - as someone who has been a fan of 60's music as long as I can remember, this is a good introduction to it...

BUT I agree with you - there is so much documented social history here, it really needs someone to create a "proper" history of the period (a la "Beatles' Anthology" - cheers again!

  • @amsterdamsaint Agree 100% ... :-)

  • thos BASTARDS >:o

  • @STEPASAUR wow, calm dawn, thats really deep! Ya, beatle haters suck balls but there almost always just some punk that thinks there "gangsta" and wears some huge gold chain around there neck and saggy pants down at there knees so there ass is showing... It sucks cuz the Beatles changed my life when i discovered there music a few years back ( im 14 and didnt really discover music and get into it till i was 12 ) and i always get some prick asking me why i like the Beatles! So i just flip them off!

  • @STEPASAUR You dropping a suck C bomb is not cool for a Beatles fan. Not to mention your low brow F bombs. I move that you be voted out of the Beatles cllub, or at least have you mouth washed out with Beatles soap.

  • LOL, the elephant @ 3:58.

  • Anyone seen part 6 or 7 ?

  • wow

  • whats the song at 3:44

  • Beatles fans ruined thier live show its too bad i bet some of thier later material woulda been cool live but hard to re-produce. cmon quit slaggin the Beatles they were amazing.

  • Seriously, I don't know how anyone who's heard the Magical Mystery Tour record could dislike the Beatles. They were great songwriters.

  • What the hell is wrong with all these women?

    It's quite frightening...

  • The Kinks did pretty much everything for British Pop Music, they would have been probably as bIg as The Beatles but they were'nt allowed in America so it was impossible for them to make it big. Another problem was that they were in a rubbish label that didnt promote them. But they had everything, The Hair, The Songs, The Clothes, Actually sounding British unlike so many other people then.

  • qual cansion dices?

  • alguien puede decirme cómo se llama esa canción?

  • The Kinks! Man they did so much for rock n roll in the 60's!

Inventing distortion, the wild unpredictable guitar solos, the harsh lyrics!

    FUCK THE BEATLES!

  • nah dont fuck the beatles FUCK YOU

  • fuck you. loser!

  • wow good come back lol

  • no worse than yours mate!

  • lol

  • Sorry Man but distortion was unoffically invented 14 years earlier, but The Kinks made the biggest impact with it.

  • well the didnt invent it like the beatles didnt invent feedback but they were to first band to use it whlst playing guitar!

  • Yeah. They were the very first band to put feedback on a record.

  • yeh but they werent to 1st band to use it live!

  • Ahh very true my friend!

  • it's quite clear that the kinks and the yardbirds were much much more important to the development of rock music than the beatles.

they may have popularised it but theres nothing they did that was as fresh and original as the kinks and the yardbirds!

  • Yeah I mean the Beatles revolutionized loads of amazing things in the studio but The Kinks and The Yardbirds revolutionized a lot of things in live music with their styles of playing and effects and options in equipment an amps.

  • riff structure too. you really got me, and the train kept rollin are the earleist heavy full on riffs.

also the yardbirds and kinks were both depping in pschedelic rock before the beatles! but yet again as the beatles were the bigger bands they got more credit.

  • OK OK MAN! I GET IT!!!!

  • What about the beatles work with tape delay ala Tomorrow Never Knows?

  • thats down to the producer not the band. he was the one with all the tricks up his sleeve.

and fucking hundreds of shit bands have inspired millions. just look at emo!

  • Actually it was Paul's idea to use short loops of tape for those effects. He cut them himself at home and brought them to the studio. George Martin had nothing to do with it until it came time to record then Martin had people run all the loops in separate rooms all miked to one track so they could fit all of them on a eight track recording.

  • The beatles inflluence on musicians so far surpasses that of any emo band so I don't know what you're talking about.

  • @clashboy1977 Well thats your opinion but the Beatles are MORE!!!!

  • Yeah. They were the first band to use "fuzz" or distortion as you call it on a record. Also, Dave Davies was the first guitarist to ever use the now imfoamous "power chord".

  • @clashboy1977 Get a life pussy!!

  • @1979cl1 suck my balls fag beatles are the most overrated band ever!

  • @clashboy1977 Hahahahahaha!!! You don't know shit what saying,,go kiss my ass wanker!!

  • wow. they were wild for the beatles!!!

    BEATLES FOREVER!!!!!!

  • LOL ... hah, you caught that ....

    :-)

  • There is millions of peopol. "Looks like one man, oh it's the camera man"

  • i'm gobsmacked, i use to collect the beatles cards when i was a young 5 year old in the london east end back in 1962, i would go into woolworths and they would be selling beatles wigs, awsome the hold they had on youth back then !

  • This is MORE that wonderful--thank you ever so much for posting! I wish more than anything that I'd been alive to witness it first-hand! (and is it just me, or does the girl at the far right the spitting-image of Gilda Radner?!?!?!?)

  • eRIC bURDON RULESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

  • Not just because I am from Newcastle but the Animals were in my opinion better than the Beatles they just didnt write as many top chart songs.

  • the animals are amazinng so much energy amd soul...burden, price amazing

  • BURD"O"N

  • The Animals were a fabulous band and Eric Burdon could sing that bluesy rock as well as anyone. But to suggest they were better than the Beatles so long as you don't count the Beatles songwriting...C'mon.

  • I think The Animals had a definite sound of their own. Their sound was very mysterious with the organ and Eric's distinctive vocals. The Beatles were amazing songwriters though, too. Not fair to compare really.

  • Eric Burdon rules!

  • truly beatlemania..luv them all..aspecially george..

  • It was so damn loud you couldn't hear Ringo play...holy crap those guys had the chicks!

  • this was before they gave drummers their own cabs to enlarge their sound

  • I am still living in Jersey and I remember WABC and the WMCA "Good Guys" well. I honestly don't think that sounded like Cousin Brucie...or maybe he hadn't yet developed his hyper radio persona yet.

  • i was 9 yrs old living in jersey - listening to cousin brucie or wmca - mmmm very nice flaskback --- i remember this stuff

    thanks for posts

  • The WMCA Good Guys were the coolest!

    :-)

  • God, I love that George..."Well, we got a record contract!!" That's how to answer a stupid question...

  • Soo good to see this again. I havent seen this since I was 13..thanks a lot man, good memories!!!!!!!!!!

  • Kickassfan, glad it brings back nice memories!
