Or perhaps it's just not given enough of a platform, if they were to take the timeslots which they give to X-Factor or other talent contests and put them into somekind of shows of unsigned talent...The music of today would be a lot better :\
i was 14 when I heard my first Beatles song Please please me. Someone brought it into school and the teacher allowed it to be played at dinner break. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. From that moment my life changed.
@Razamabaz It was that every instrumental note and vocal was alvie, and near perfect. All of these other groups actually paled in comparison, and now in a way at times the Beatles are "all too much" to comprehend.

To clasiffy the beatles in a musical category is useless. The were a cultural phenomena that changed music, art, philosofy, fashion and so many other things.
there is not a comparison between beatles and the stones, cause the fav 4 was a country,r&b,soul rock band,in the early days, and the stones have always been an a afro- british blues rock band.
from two different cities sound, two feel and grooves, but i love both, but, artistically and influence, the four young boys from liverpool are better musicians, sofisticates, artistics, cosmopolitans and rokers too..i mean completes and integrals.
@CapitanoGUC I like the Beatles better than the Stones,, The Stones may outlasted the Beatles as a band but the Beatles music is more better and more honered and universal!!!!!!!
@1979cl1 ok - but you can´t compare beatles and stones - stones do rock musik and beatles is just pop. Thats different like Lady Gaga and Motörhead ...:-/
@CapitanoGUC I'll say what I can, true the Beatles were pop ROCK in the first place but their music went ROCK in mid 1966 and more serious in 67 and change the face of Rock n Roll forever and can ROCK if they were'nt to break up and for that reason their musis is played in classic rock radio stations along with the Stones, The Who, The Doors, Fleeetwood Mac, AC./DC,the Police and others!!!
@CapitanoGUC Its still is ROCK!!! And don't compare the Stones with Motorhead,,, The Stones are mellow next to Motorhead and Motorhead Rocks more HARDER!!!!
@1979cl1 yea - Mothörhead is the harder end and the stones are on the softer end of the rock´nroll spectrum - but they are still far closer to mothörheat as to the beatles. at that time, there was a conflickt between poppers and rockers ...
@CapitanoGUC Yes but the Beatles did not stay in their pop standerd ways as they already went harder in 67 and toward the end of the 60s and more seriuos music along the drugs they experimented. As for Lady Gaga no way she's not anything like the Beatles neither the Jonas Bros or Justine Beiber.
@1979cl1 bus still beatles are worldwide rememberd as good and even meaningfull pop band ...:-/ - so it is good stuff but it is still pop !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@CapitanoGUC Say what ever you like thats your opinion and I said the truth and thats all there is to it, they went rock in the late 60s even though they did some nice music but I rest my case that the Beatles are No. 1 and the Stones are second best.
@1979cl1 they are number one of po cause there Pop is far more meaninfull then most other bands of this genere - but stones brought the centre of rock´n´roll to euroe
Thanks so much for this, I'm enjoying it immensely - as someone who has been a fan of 60's music as long as I can remember, this is a good introduction to it...
BUT I agree with you - there is so much documented social history here, it really needs someone to create a "proper" history of the period (a la "Beatles' Anthology" - cheers again!
@STEPASAUR wow, calm dawn, thats really deep! Ya, beatle haters suck balls but there almost always just some punk that thinks there "gangsta" and wears some huge gold chain around there neck and saggy pants down at there knees so there ass is showing... It sucks cuz the Beatles changed my life when i discovered there music a few years back ( im 14 and didnt really discover music and get into it till i was 12 ) and i always get some prick asking me why i like the Beatles! So i just flip them off!
@STEPASAUR You dropping a suck C bomb is not cool for a Beatles fan. Not to mention your low brow F bombs. I move that you be voted out of the Beatles cllub, or at least have you mouth washed out with Beatles soap.
Beatles fans ruined thier live show its too bad i bet some of thier later material woulda been cool live but hard to re-produce. cmon quit slaggin the Beatles they were amazing.
The Kinks did pretty much everything for British Pop Music, they would have been probably as bIg as The Beatles but they were'nt allowed in America so it was impossible for them to make it big. Another problem was that they were in a rubbish label that didnt promote them. But they had everything, The Hair, The Songs, The Clothes, Actually sounding British unlike so many other people then.
Yeah I mean the Beatles revolutionized loads of amazing things in the studio but The Kinks and The Yardbirds revolutionized a lot of things in live music with their styles of playing and effects and options in equipment an amps.
riff structure too. you really got me, and the train kept rollin are the earleist heavy full on riffs.
also the yardbirds and kinks were both depping in pschedelic rock before the beatles! but yet again as the beatles were the bigger bands they got more credit.
Actually it was Paul's idea to use short loops of tape for those effects. He cut them himself at home and brought them to the studio. George Martin had nothing to do with it until it came time to record then Martin had people run all the loops in separate rooms all miked to one track so they could fit all of them on a eight track recording.
Yeah. They were the first band to use "fuzz" or distortion as you call it on a record. Also, Dave Davies was the first guitarist to ever use the now imfoamous "power chord".
i'm gobsmacked, i use to collect the beatles cards when i was a young 5 year old in the london east end back in 1962, i would go into woolworths and they would be selling beatles wigs, awsome the hold they had on youth back then !

The Animals were a fabulous band and Eric Burdon could sing that bluesy rock as well as anyone. But to suggest they were better than the Beatles so long as you don't count the Beatles songwriting...C'mon.
I think The Animals had a definite sound of their own. Their sound was very mysterious with the organ and Eric's distinctive vocals. The Beatles were amazing songwriters though, too. Not fair to compare really.
I am still living in Jersey and I remember WABC and the WMCA "Good Guys" well. I honestly don't think that sounded like Cousin Brucie...or maybe he hadn't yet developed his hyper radio persona yet.

Not just because I am from Newcastle but the Animals were in my opinion better than the Beatles they just didnt write as many top chart songs.
