Even the Beatles were warned that it is not easy to have a name by a foreign group.
My personal view is that the Move ( and also Roy Wood himself later by his own and
Wizzard ) were sounding too much British in an American taste. The Beatles and ELO created more commercial sound which was much more succesful. What is your opinion ?
@FinnMove As a Huge Move fan, and an American, I can say you're on the right track to their not being bigger here. In my opinion, the number one cause to that lack of a big break came from their Move LP. It came out too late. It was in MONO! and sounded somewhat dated by the time of its release. That's not an attack, just an explanation. yeah
@zfloid44 I would have thought their lack of success in the US was down to lack of promotion or something along those lines, but I can see your point of view, as much as I like the album.
There was a stereo version of the Move LP, but it must have been rarer than the mono version (either that or it was only available in mono in the US). The 2007 reissue of the album has stereo remixes of most of the songs, which sound a lot better to their original counterparts in my opinon.
The whole concert CD is amazing as it was finally released on CD this month Feb.2012
