  • I am from Greece ... the 2 people who at first said they lost .. Not applicable ..

found them after some time at home and the person who gave in early misrepresent that lost has come face to face with justice ... without knowing the outcome of the case ... the police testified they did it for money security! . . 7 days were doing ''Pro and feather '' the boat, sea and island and could not find anything

  • No one died . Two French people were said to be missing but in a mysterious way no one has found their bodies. And the place where the ship sank wasn't out in the ocean or so deep that thorough investigation couldn't be done. There were a lot of gaps in the story that the French woman told.

  • When this ship was named Brika princess i crused with this ship 30-40 times :) This was my favorite crusie ship and a was sad when i heard that this ship have benn sold and it's sinking :( R.I.P Birka Princess <3 :`(

  • i am from greece

  • This ship sailed in the archipelago between Stockholm, Sweden and the islands of Aland, Finland where there are in excess of 30.000 islands, shallow water all around for 20 years without even running aground once....It is impressive the greeks managed to sink it where the depth of the sea is hundreds of meters....opps there was an huge island in their way....maybe this reflects the reason for the situation Greece is in right now.... a lack of attention, carefulness and thoroughness?

  • @hjalle74 maybe it reflects that you are ignorant and you should have read the accidents report first ..and also what is the sinking of a ship years ago has to do with Greece ?And as for naval tradition i dont think Sweden has anything perticular to contribute in comparison to Greece historically or today..Also the depth of the place when it sank was not hundreds of meters ..

  • @luigipaneron

I might be arrogant-yes. But still think the guys handling this ship was pretty amazing to hit the Island of Santorini in calm weather.,.In my opinion they were ignorant.

Doesnt matter where she sank, the main issue is that it is pretty deep around there, only one anchorage. But if you hit a huge island, things happen....correct?

Do you know if I read the accident report or not? Maybe you are not clairvoyant...cause I have.

    Cheers,

  • ξέρετε αν το βγάλανε από το βυθό;

  • @drinintr is still in bed with a huge fear of contamination if t move ..

although the company has received a mandate to withdraw as soon as possible from the bottom. she does not know what will happen if the shake .. (Between us the cost of care)

  • Cant stop from thinking of Titanic when seeing those lifeboats beeing lowered. Two ferries now that used to dock Stockholm harbour has sunk. This story had a lucky ending, everything went slow and peacyfully. The other one, MS Estonia, sank in less than an hour in heavy seas on the night of 28 sept 1994, bringing over 700 souls with her down in the deep, trapped inside. She was the white boat, connecting newly free Estonia to the western world. RIP Birka Princess(Sea Diamond) and RIP MS Estonia.

  • R.I.P Birka Princess 1986-2007

  • Go the Hellenic navel. Did very one survive?

  • What's up with those lifeboats? They look like escape pods. How do the people get in?

  • @DBuilder have you never seen a lifeboat before, all look like that (exept those who are more than 20 years old) you get in through hatches on the sides and top of it

  • To much weight!

  • too many fat kids on the ship

  • @pramedic911ems yes it was a group of americans

  • @pramedic911ems Oh were you one of them?

  • jumping down would make one hell of a splash.

  • They say renaming a ships name is a bad thing to do, then again, superstition is not my thing. Either way too bad it sank, what a scare for the ppl on board.

  • fake

  • @coloradoskiauthority your moms fake

  • @coloradoskiauthority I wish it were fake but It was part of my dissertation research at university. I can confirm that a navigational error caused by wrong nautical maps was the cause of the vessel sinking, as youtube user thepurplevale said. Maybe instead of having an argument u two could respect the two who died and the scuba diver who died investigating the ship.

  • @tom201090 Obviously its not fake. Grow some human in you.

  • My mother used to work on this ship When it was named Birka Princess, in sweden and cruised the baltic sea. I have been on several cruises on this ship to Mariehamn, Helsinki, Tallinn, and Visby. It was a very nice ship and I have many nice memories from her. May you rest in peace Princess!

  • Great video, and the idiots who make crass and stupid comments, Louis happen to be a very reputable company. I have worked WITH them, not FOR them and they would have taken this accident extremely seriously. Understand facts before you make silly remarks

  • The Ship Was something Like really Close to Land Why not Jump in the water And Swim Duh?

  • mes tu a pris lui ?

    :)

  • THIS was on live television!!!

by the way the captain was a women

  • @xbox360anime so?

  • cost too much to save Her? sad someone had to die over the Captains not knowing where the rocks were?

  • @jeepers2655 actually no one died...and the ship wasn't sunk by mistake, they wanted it to sink so they could get some money...

  • @thepurplevale and what proof do u have?

  • @thepurplevale That's just hearsay. 2 people are presumed dead and current stance of investigations claim a navigational error due to wrong nautical maps as the cause. Insurance fraud is blatant speculation at best.

  • @81kingtut oh ok sorry :)

  • @81kingtut Your wrong sir. the pilot/driver of the boat purposely ran this ship aground because he hated americans. the nautical maps were not wrong.

  • @adampeterson91

That's a fucking stupid thing to say.

  • @vibratingstring How is that a stupid fucking thing to say?

  • @adampeterson91

    1. Because he said he accidentally ran into the rocks.

    2. Because there were more non-Americans aboard, including Italians...

    3. Because there is no factual basis for your conclusions.

Why would he ruin his career and kill Hungarians and Italians because "he hated Americans"? Why would he ruin his career? If he hated Americans, wouldn't he have done something more cost effective?

Again, a Stupid Fucking Thing To Say...

  • @vibratingstring 1. Who said that he accidentally ran into the rocks(actually a reef). He obviously knew the reef was there because it was well marked and known.

    2. There was actually more Americans onboard, because I, being one that was on the ship, saw a lot more Americans than non-Americans.

    3. No factual basis for my conclusions? How about you get a life and not go around commenting on every single status you see.

He didnt know he was going to ruin his career because "it was an accident"

  • @thepurplevale Actually 2 French people got trapped on the bottom floor and died. I was on the ship.

  • @rockskaterdudeperson oh sorry.. i just went to santorini and people told me that. was it a good ship?

  • @thepurplevale yeah it was wonderful! it was like 10 stories tall with a bunch of stuff to do on the 6th floor and up

  • @rockskaterdudeperson awesome! it's really sad that such a nice ship is sunk! you're lucky you got to travel with it!

  • Not that bad

  • if the boats that close to shore why not jump and swim to shore

  • 4:39 there's a women. :0

  • I hope they got all the people off!

  • @jklfds85 2 french passengers were missing, never traced.

  • This ship was famous one from Sweden TV show call "Rederiet and this ship showing in 318 episods so was very sad that I saw now the ship sink =(.. R.I.P to Birka princess or Sea Diamond

  • easily saved, but they choose not to.

  • so so many Greek ships sink, due to poor mantainance and poor ship handling and shit capitain's

when will people learn there just about the money and nothing more

  • Women and children First!

  • Thats an expensive mistake to the owner of that ship

  • lol this is the captain speaking THE SHIP IS SINKING plz run in circles and scream while me and the crew grabs the food and take the lifeboats.oh yah SCREW MY SHIP IM SAVING MYSELF!!!!

  • As people scrambled to get off, they still try to sell you 25 dollar photos of your face of horror!

  • Captain=nub

  • now JAMES CAMERON knows where he will film TITANIC 2!

  • @6thsun25 Sorry, got news for you: Titanic 2 was released in 2010. And yes, it is just as bad as one might expect.

  • freja

  • Women, never EVER let them drive ANYTHING

  • lol...i love how calmly they sail away when everyone gets off :)

  • no..you just sell bowshits to greece

  • i just liked this video. it doesnt have sound.

THANKYOU for not throwing some bullshit song overtop of the video.

you took what you had, and put it on youtube.

    ...some goddamn ppl...

  • Thats really bad you would have thought considering how long it took to sink (2 days !!) they would have made some attempt to save it

  • @vanessalegend It's difficult. You see that steep side of the island? It extends like that into the water. They were screwed since a ship can't be beached on a shoreline with such a radical slope.

  • how did she sink ?

  • @denon7474 Captain navigated the ship to near to the coast and touched ground unlucky

  • @denon7474

    She ran aground on rocks.

  • rip :( it was an awesome ship !

  • Greeks are morons!

  • i thought u would hear screaming guess not

  • 3:45 ENEMY AC-130 ABOVE!!!

  • @bucu123456789

    *Hind

  • hey what`s this plug in the bottom for?.....OHHHHHH crap.

  • @jeepers2655 LMAO

  • Yes two people have died and never been found

  • two people were lost in this sinking and have never been found.

  • is it just me..or is there a bit too many videos on youtube of huge ships sinking... Like, is this a common occurrence!?

  • On another note, what a lovely view the passengers must have gotten whilst evacuating :)

  • sooo if its at the bottom of the sea, and you go searching for it and find it then technically you found a "sea diamond" and should become rich right?

  • oh SHIT a ship sunk there??? I was just there this summer, saw that cliff face and everything. Why'd it sink? How'd they get it out?

    wuttt thuuu fuuuuuckkk

  • @superhornet59 they didn't. the nearly vertical cliff face has caused her to slide. Her bow lies only in 62 meters of water, while her stern in 180.

  • @superhornet59 they ran aground on a reef. my mom was on that ship.

  • Comment removed

  • why did it sink?

lol btw "what are you zinking about?"

  • How is it that everytime a ship sinks, they list? Titanic didn't list & she is sitting upright on the bottom.

  • @SuperTitanicfreak, it depends on the internal hull division and type of damage. Titanic probably had no longitudinal watertight bulkheads, so the flooding was more or less symmetrical even though the damage was limited to one side only. Also, Titanic was quite a lot bigger and probably a bit more stable in flooded condition.

  • @SuperTitanicfreak The Titanic broke into 3 peices as it sank.the bow section that is upright plained away as it sank causing it to strike the ocean floor moving forward. im sure that will have some part to play.

  • @zookyguy Didnt she break only in half?

  • @Lilyankee2424 2 main sections, bow and stern. But a large section of deck came free when the bow hit the ocean floor and lies to one side of the main bow wreck.

  • Yes, but it sunk so slowly that it could have been saved. Like driving it to beach where it cant sink more and engineers make it waterproof and pump water out..

  • @ThunderStorm9613 Actually b/c the way the island's vertical shore of the bubble-like caldera made it impossible to beach her properly

  • How did Sea Diamond sank so easily? How many Compartments were breached? 2? 4? She could have stay afloat with only 2 flooded.

  • I bet there was someone on that ship sleeping away on this sink....

  • Hahah, FAIL! The ship took long to sink so it would have been possible to repair it before it sunk.. And why they dragged her so close to port to sink?? I just laughed at this :D

  • @ThunderStorm9613, perhaps they didn't have suitable salvage vessels in Santorini? Also, it doesn't look like it's very close to any port.

  • @ThunderStorm9613 well being greek i could tell you Santorini is very small and has no salvage ships. the closest one is in Pireas in Athens

  • @ThunderStorm9613 b/c the way the island's vertical shore of the bubble-like caldera made it impossible to beach her properly

  • sad to see such a nice ship sinking

  • @crashinator1001 Lol your name xD

  • Respond to this video... O_O

  • @crashinator1001

they are actually investigating if it was insurance fraud as the ship was so shitty....

  • Cruise ships tend to change their names every few years... usually when acquired by a different company.

  • how long in all did it take to sink?

  • Lol, its a pain for it's owner watching it sink slowly, haha.

  • she hit a reef as was way to close to the shore,,she did sink as there is footage on here,,its real sad so see this amazing liner sink

  • sad she was a nice ship

  • I was on this; the two french people actually did die. the whole ordeal was terrifying (i was separated from my family and sat with a few french children also separated from their's in Santorini) My brother was one of the last ones off the ship.

First we heard a huge grinding noise, then the ship started to tilt at a 30 degree angle. oh, and there was a nice lady named Phyllis from California who helped me find my family

  • what is wrong with the ship. I mean what happen to her?

  • i think its already at the bottom.

  • wie konnte überhaupt ein so großes schiff sinken?

  • Comment removed

  • im now kinda scared to go on cruises even thought ive been on like twenty it makes u think wat if this happenes to u next and u dont survie u should allways think about life and love it

  • @MikesFilms25, you're far more likely to die in your own car while driving to the shipping terminal. If you love your life, you should live it to its fullest extent and not worry about something as unlikely as the cruise ship sinking.

  • theres something really great about giant boats sinking

  • @luvsthewnba Titanic had the most beautiful but still sad sinking.Britannic sister to titanic is sunked here in Greece just 100 meters bellow surface in one piece

  • SHIT I FORGOT MY CREDIT CARD !!!

  • poor Birka Princess D:

  • If you need to make a ship disappear, give it to the Greeks.

  • Rest in peace, Freja from the swedish doku-soap "Rederiet"

  • it´s looks like birka paradise ho now are in stockholm , how i now that ? iive in stockholm

  • This Ship is sister boat to "Ms/Estonia who sink 1994, and 852 ppl die..

  • @rareu4532, no it's not.

  • I was on the Sea Diamond a few months before it sank. Even had a beer with the captain. I'll always remember sitting at the stern smoking a cigar and watching us make way.

  • ...

but just how many of these passenger cruise ships are secretly loaded with rockets and missiles?

  • Jack, I'm not leaving without you.

Listen Rose, you leave first, we have arrangements to to get on another boat.

Seconds later, Rose jumps back onto the Sea Diamond to reunite with Jack.

  • I bet that made a mess

  • i thought boats where suppose to be floating not sinking wow i cant even wonder waht the captin will have to pay for this .....o wait hes probaly dead sry ¬_¬

  • DUDE DOES THE GREEKS SINK EVERY SHIP WE SELL TO THEM?!

  • @markhellstone hey 15 year old kid learn how to fucking spell first. oh and go fuck your self

  • @markhellstone the captain and all the people that were working were not greeks dude :)

  • the sea whants it jewels back

  • wow i went to santorini this summer, sailed there on the aquamarine another one of louis cruises ships. Sea Diamond was a former ship of Louis cruises before it sunk, but did not hear one thing about it from the locals. pretty cool what u can find out just by going on a cruise in greece.

  • Was the whole ship evacuated

  • @umziyaziya Yes a ferry came along side and brought down the gang plank on the side so everyone who was still on could walk down and passports could be saved

  • Aaw, ive been on brika princess before this happend :( It was so lovely :>

  • @grovblaza Birka Princess***

  • soutch a nice ship...

what a waste it should go down :(

  • its not THAT scary i wish i was there because if it sank all the way then i could just swam to shore or ppl would see me

  • @VaconCamp when a ship sinks, especially one that big, it forces the surface water around it to replace the space the ship took up as it sinks from the surface... a vacuum effect. You wouldn't be able to just jump off and swim away, you'd be pulled under with it the second the ship went under.

  • @MonoDaro, while it could be difficult to swim above a sinking ship due to the water moving, I doubt you'd be sucked below the surface as you described. The water displaces the sinking ship from all around it, so it won't "suck" everything down with it, and your own buoyancy would probably negate any force caused by the sinking ship...

    .

Didn't they test it in Mythbusters by sinking a ship under one of the guys several times?

  • RIP M/S Birka Princess!

  • @erdal0 die cunt

  • how did it sink any way

  • @daretardedasshoe - The charts were wrong and they hit a reef.

  • WHY??

  • the greeks are held fully liable mainly financially for any problems arising out of operating their boats wherever they go. there would be civil and criminal cases as well as huge damages.

  • Birka Princess it is the real name of the boat not Sea diamond

  • zelda533: that depends on what you understand for "real", don't you think, brother?

  • @zelda533 Actually the name IS Sea Diamond... says it pretty clearly on the bow
