  • The parrot sounds a little like the backup vocals on Big Mouth Strikes Again.

  • Absolutely superb Andy! One of my all time favourite Smiths songs covered very well indeed. As a learner player myself it's on my list of songs to learn.

Keep 'em coming fella, Bigmouth Strikes Again please!!! ;-)

  • Bravo. Great vid. Great to see people playing music and having a bit of a sing - especially an Englishman singing a Smiths song. Encore - post some more.

  • awsome cover well done fella tip top mate 10/10

  • fabbo!!!!

    glenn

  • wow very good i enjoyed this =333 I think your voice goes well.

  • not bad man ;)

  • love it, great version.

  • I don't usually ever post comments on youtube vids but this is a great cover of a great song, keep up the good work.

  • If you don't like them, it's your opinion. But don't insult them, go insult akon instead :D

  • Funny how you found this video and spent the time bothering to comment. Methinks the metalhead doth protest to much. Cock.

  • brilliant cover. having a bit of trouble on the strumming rhythm on this one myself. it's hard to get down.

  • This is one of my favourite songs, it was great to see somebody play it so...perfectly. Although, I just realised the way I've been taught to play it is wrong. Any chance of a tutorial? Or a tab with strumming pattern? I'm not very good at working songs out.

  • Thanks very much, and thanks to everyone who's commented...(Except 'you suck balls' guy..)

I don't know that there's a lot I could tell you in a tutorial...You've clearly realised that the key to playing this song is the strumming, not the chords, which are all basic...But if you watch my right hand, you'll see that the rhythm is constant throughout; I'm not stuttering the timing to make the rhythm at all, so I'd say that the secret is in the timing of the chord changes,

  • especially the very brief D between the C & G (0:24)...

Also the C-D-G before the vocals come in(at 0:13) is odd, because it's a kind of triplet rhythm, so you have to emphasise on the down stroke with the first three, then the upstroke with the second...

Hope that helps, I'm not sure I've explained it too well, but those are the things I think you need to practise to get the feel of the song...

    Good Luck

    AB

  • very well done

  • how way the lads

  • very well done man

  • haha andy ignore rydthmrims dude. he's one of those people who insult people to look cool.

  • great version!! and the abuse was brilliant, haha. but more importantly, your version was craking, nice one.

  • nice cover man; great tune.

  • Nice cover mate(better than my version imo)....was kinda hoping you would play the whole of I want the one I cant have as well but i'll settle for the spousal abuse instead.. ha ha...quality!

  • haha , amazing cover bro, keep play'ng...

  • full D... C chord...

    whatever...

    GREAT!!!

  • Instead of playing the full D chord in the main riff, you should just slide up 2 frets from the C chord (keeping the same fingering). That is how Johnny Marr does it. I saw the Smiths in '86 and remembered this exactly. Cheers

  • Do not...

  • I do.

  • I knew it....

  • I meant, meat balls obviously?

  • I knew it....

  • No you didn't, because I have absorbed your IQ.

  • well your head must be four feet wide now then...

  • You're not that smart Andy!

    Only like 145

Mine was already 912 so like, it was a simple task for me..

    wait..

    oh..

my head was four feet wide anyway, so another 4 is hardly noticeable anyway.

  • wow how do you know that?

  • this is really nice

  • this is sick. what are the chords?

  • At first you looked a little nerdy, but now I can see you're cool. Good cover!
