  • These Russian people are still suffering years later because the russian navy will not tell the truth about what really went on on that fateful day..THESE FAMILY'S SHOULD HAVE THE RIGHT TO NO WHAT HAPPENED TO THERE SONS IN THAT TOMB YOU'S CALL A SUBMARINE THE RUSSIAN NAVY OR GOVERNMENT SHUOLD AT LEAST TELL THE FAMILYS SO THEY CAN HAVE SOME CLOSURE ON THIS AWFUL TRAGIC STORY..PUTIN SHOULD WAKE UP AND TELL THE FAMILY'S THE TRUTH WHAT REALLY HAPPENED ON THAT HORRIBLE AND TRAGIC DAY.GOD WILLING RIP

  • as bad as this cover up is, i have to admit, its good to see that the old superpowers are more relaxed toward one another now. that said, it just proves that one is as corrupt as the other. i feel so bad for the families, RIP

  • the u.s sub apparently dropped to the seabed but soon after limped away. the commander of the boomer panicked and thought ''shit! we just rammed them, they're going to shoot us,... shoot them!) and fired a torpedo on the Kursk (constituting the second, much larger explosion). the damage to the Kursk has been matched to the exact damage a u.s torpedo causes. about a week after this, the u.s dropped either a large part of, or all of russias foreign debt to the u.s... coincidence??

  • ok people, facts... at the time of the sinking, the Kursk was performing a military exercise in which it was demonstrating a new uber-torpedo for potential design sale to the chinese. the u.s didnt want this (obviously) and had two subs ghosting the exercise. i had heard there was an attack sub and a boomer (missile sub). the u.s attack sub got too close and accidentally collided with the Kursk. the Kursk was a far bigger sub and as such suffered minimal damage.

  • good doco but it is true there were 2 US subs in the area at the time of the sinking thats why the russian spoke out & said that 1 of these subs had run in2 the Kursk but we now no the true of what happen

  • Seriously the americans did not sank the Kursk. The russian navy used ATP torpedo which leak out and door where torpedo was held was not close all the way

  • By the time they told the public, not a single man on the Kursk was still alive. It would be much longer until the Russian military did a damn thing about a rescue.

  • garbage film, not worth watching, go to Submarine in troubled waters instead

  • If you live in the US, it's probably more prudent to learn spanish instead.

  • Ummm, why aren't all the interviews translated to english, this is interesting documentary, but it would be better if more was in english, not just narrator.

  • Awesome documentary. Russia is a great country - without the Russian military, we might all be under the Nazi boot right now! Long live a place of heroism, beauty and fantastic art and classical music! Second, these men died of CO2 poisoning (humane way to go though obviously still terrible) - and they died serving their country. In WW1, on simple blunders, more than 10,000 would die needlessly. These submariners died heroes, serving a beautiful Motherland. RIP, you gave all, and did well.

  • @fuhmeregan true, youre country helped defeat the evil nazis, of course, stalin was evil, and soviet police state was less evil. so, hooray to russia becoming less evil i guess.

  • @covingtonium Nazi's were not Evil or Russian stalin... if you just think about it yes they did some nasty things, were the americans better in vietnam? no not really(rape, murder) Korea? it was war, Now in are time The Americans are the Nazi's and every nation want to destroye them and when it's over, they will right books on how there system was horrible.. One nations dream is another nightmare.. Educate yourself:)

  • @hercg1967 hahahah what a homo!

  • @TheDarthjango ... I believe the American are complete HOMO's lol

  • It would be handy to have subtitles for the benefits of those of us who don't speak Russian! Disappointing. Ah well, will search for another clip.....

  • Subtitles would've been brilliant. :-/

  • what a load of bullshit. breathing equipment was so old it caught fire when it came it contact with water? yeah, tell me how the fuck's that possible. it was carbon dioxide absorbers that the crew hang below the ceiling. the chemical compound used in them is volatile because it has to be in order to do its job. when one of the crewmen dropped one of the absorbers, it reacted with water and started the fire, so it was technically the crew fault, although they can't be blamed.

  • @Icarus01 can you tell me where to find a video of the woman getting drugged from because it seems to of dissapeared off this video also google and ask jeeves are not helpful source?

  • hahhh the TRUTH is Memphis which was shaddowing Kursk rammed it, thats why its emergency bouys were found at the scene and it ran to Norway for repairs....this is typical western attempt to whitewash itself its been seen before

  • It was a Granite missile from the Kursk that hit the Pentagon on 911.

  • @TitusSviatoslav

Why would pentagon use it, when they have plenty of their own?!

  • @2buffed

The seed uranium (or plutonium) carries a unique signature that every plant leaves on IT'S material. That's how nuclear explosions are traced to their radioactive source.

  • @TitusSviatoslav

A 'granit' missle hitting the pentagon and plutonium?! Something doesn't compute here.

With all the conspiracy theories, this one must be a new one for me..

  • Bullshit enters the equation at 15 minutes, when they say that leaking torpedo fuel caused the initial explosion ..shots taken after the vessel was raised show a dent and a round hole in the hull.

It still does not explain how the second explosion occurred, nor the abrupt departure of Admiral Popov, nor why the decision was made to saw the forward section off of the wreck!

  • half the video is useless ..what happened to the subtitles?

  • Thats what you get for trying to torpedo Peter the great

  • after the USSR has been dissolved - the country with no laws, no system, no politics from 1991. "Entrepreneurs", as they are called in the Western world, utilised the opportunity and got rich leaving the state with no money to sustain the navy (and army).

Who of you guys leaving the negative comments about Russia has recently lived in the country which went from being one of the strongest empires to absolute bankrupt with no system and then to a well operating country in less then 20 years???

  • Needs subtitles. No speaky da russki :)

  • main - she spoke russian's official that then (in 2000) middle salary kursk' seaman - 57dollars, so russian goverment kills our seaman for 57$

  • A documentary filmmaker filmed a hole in the side of Kursk when it was lifted, the sides of the hole were inwards so something had punched a hole in Kursk. Only two possible alternatives, either Kursk shot itself by mistake or one of the two American Los Angeles class subs, USS Toledo and USS Memphis, shot it. My money is on the later alternative. USS Toledo accidentally ran into the larger Kursk, one of Kursks torpedo tubes was damaged and its lid came off making a sound that USS Memphis...

  • ...detected and thought that Kursk was about to fire its Shkval on them. The captain on USS Memphis then did something no US submariner had done during the cold war, he pulled the trigger...

  • Hope to still be alive in 2050 when the US archives from 2000 become public.

  • just another anti-russian propaganda attempt

  • What really happened to the KURSK and its crew ?

A next-gen Russian torpedo didn't launch properly and exploded in the neck of the submarine.. Putin and others hid the Truth to the entire world.. the same way Bush hid 9/11 atrocities committed by themselves. Don't trust mainstream media , most are owned by Jews who have their own agenda.

  • @lnpkural I dunno bout the "Jews with their own agenda" Religion always Starting the fucking wars.. either way.. Very true words. But you yourself show why these governments develop and use weapons like this in the first place.

  • lol fail

why a new torpedo can't explode? Because after collapse of USSR, russian subs had no money for new torpedoes. It was attacked by 2 US submarines

  • @Scoutrussp7

Hate to be harsh but we did'nt shoot you're tupolev bears out of the sky when you invaded canadian norad airspace 2 years ago so why would we ahnilate poor russian submairines in the barents in 100 m of water when damn near your whole northern fleet was present? Not meant to be insulting but prove me wrong.

  • i live in Kursk

  • the USS Toledo and USS Memphis were shadowing the kursk then they came in hard contact. The Kursk was armed with new Schval torpedoes, capable of doing 250 knots ubderwater. the two american attack subs had to sink the kursk risking being both torpedoed. pretty fucked up situation, kinda explains why Putin couldnt tell the truth without unleashing ww3

  • Total nonsense! There were 6 Russian subs, numerous surface ships, planes, helicopters in the immediate area. If 2 US subs could sneak in the middle of all of that hornet nest, where the sea depth is only around 100 m, sink Kursk and sneak out undetected, than Russia should dismiss it's NAVY.

    It's no good for anything.......

  • @ssmusic214 FINALLY, someone using their brain!

  • @ssmusic214 that's what you think but actually it took like 20 us subs, so yeah....

  • @BurningEffect Sure! Entire US submarine fleet gathered nearby and Russians never noticed!

Russian navy is the greatest! (lol)....

  • @ssmusic214 oh snap it seems I have contradicted myself......

  • @ssmusic214 Watch 'Sinking of the Kursk'...It was sunk because of the HTO torpedo linked and reacted with rusted weld. HTO will expanded 5000 times in volume. Normally, the weaker door is on the torpedo outlet door, but inlet door was electric failure. US & England has an HTO failure in the 1950's. It's actually amazing Russia were able to use them without failure for 50 more years! Must have great operational people.

  • the Schval is a useless weapon against subs since it cant turn or on newer models it can but its high speed makes it handle like a wet dildo

  • i dunno how you know??? maybe you work for the CIA???

  • bullshit

  • why don't u guyz just talk about the two american submarines the USS MEMPHIS and the USS TOLEDO on the scene when the kursk blew up???????????????????

  • cykie we need to kill all governments everywhere

  • you're right, dammit!

  • The USN offered to set their DSRV on the Kursk and could have saved any survivors within 24hrs. of the sinking, but the Russians wouldn't let us near Kursk.

Then Clinton and Putin struck a bargain and we forgave Russia's debt to us($10 bil. and gave them an additional $12 bil. as a statement of sympathy. Right, we were innocent of any wrong doing. Our congress dug into some phony funding and we, the U.S. of A., ended up paying for the scraping of the Kursk at a cost of $126 mil.

  • ... what kind of documentary is this?

HALF in english and HALF in russian...

... how the hell i can understand what the russian people where talking about?

... i mean... who did this documentary is ... simply stupid

  • I think what happens is the subtitles don't transfer over to the YouTube format. Often subtitles are included as a seperate file and added after the fact.

  • Does not everybody knows both ? :)

  • @mzawadzk Obviously everybody not knows....

  • @CMAPAB Relax. It's ok. Just means you have to do a little more research.

  • @CMAPAB most Russians can understand and speak English... you as a English speaking person should learn Russian lol! not stupid at all...

  • @hercg1967 tako je herceg,nek uče Ruski....

  • @hercg1967 I have known many Russian who speak English, infact my highschool English teacher was Russian :O) I agree people should either learn or stop bitching.

  • @CMAPAB learn russian ,i am not russian but understand both leng.!

  • @CMAPAB Learn Russian, pumpkin. Lol, jk.

It is indeed a far from being well done documentary. Besides the Rus+Eng mix of language. The video lacks fluid line of commentary, and it somewhat "choppy". Also they do not caption who the commenting guy with the mustache is.

  • @CMAPAB Its Journeyman style, it always allows the original language but for some reason does not dub (at least on Youtube). I wish they would, this man seems to be a hero.

  • @CMAPAB go to school and learn russian duh

  • @CMAPAB I guess since a lot of Russian people speak English, the documentary is targeted toward Russians. Just because you do not speak russian doesn't mean the documentary is stupid.

  • Shut the trap, hater! No one gives rat's ass what you think. What do you know anyway...

  • Mate I don't hate Russia, i just said it SUCKS - it 's a big difference...

very barbaric nation (Sho blea pidaras nahuii, blatnoy zona)

  • Can anybody reccommend a book to me that helps me understand why russia always seems to be so stubborn and proud? A book about science& research and the government in russia, something about the state of the russian fleet or about russia's development of new aircraft/submarines. about the state of russia from the inside versus what they want to portray to the world? thanks!

  • I'm not sure if this helps, but I've just read a book on the sinking of the Kursk, titled "A Time to Die". It's written by an Englishman, and gives a reasonable account of the events leading up to, the sinking, and the aftermath. He also talks quite a bit about the differing mentalities of the Russians versus the Western powers who got involved, and how the Russians were still 'trapped' in a form of Soviet thinking, which he believes may have contributed to the loss of all those poor guys.

  • yeah, i read that book too. It is so well writen that it looks like you are living the tragedy itself. It only helped me to hate even more stupid and stubborn high command military russians. They learnt nothing from the kursk disaster, i am sure of that. May the kursk sailors rest in peace, and hope that this never happens again! Cheers

  • Comment removed

  • However, I do like your documentaries usually, so I don't want my comment to come off totally negative. I know the work that goes into a documentary from experience. Just try to do some subtitles if the main language of the film is in English then you should do English subtitles.

  • You'd think the assholes that made this documentary would have inserted subtitles.

  • fucking americans

    i want you die

  • there was also 2 US Los Angeles class subs that shadowed the kursk. the USS Memphis and the USS Toledo. some people believe that the 2 us subs sank the kursk.

  • fuck you journeyman pictures u r just idiots

  • Putin wanted them dead

  • he didn't want them dead. but them dead is better them alive and supreme Russian technology revealed by foreign rescue teams.

  • no, Kursk was just an old barel nothing more.

Russia has no equipment to resque submarines, but Putin preffered them dead than accept help.

  • they did have but it was at vladivostok 10 thousand km away

  • The conspiracy theorists need to study the ME 163 Komet and the fuel it used and search YouTube for "USS Lagarto". They also need to get some common sense

  • I too am inclined to think the Kursk was struck by a US sub shadowing it, and then torpedoed by the USS Memphis when it detected an immanent defensive strike by the Kursk; The great secrecy by Russia over the damage to the Kursk's bow section & refusal of US to allow inspection of its damaged sub (which struck the Kursk) add to the info cited by Wigbam & RiotinThunderAlley to support this conclusion; The Russian military officials who endorsed this view were fired but bribed w/comfortable posts.

  • I just read a great book on the Kursk disaster. I don't think there was a collision. everything belonging to the Russians is dilapitated...their submarines, their rescue subs, their nuclear warheads....you can see the damage on the Kursk is from an internal explosion, not an external collision.

  • bullshits i can see a MK40 torpedos the specific hole its americains torpedos

  • i agree with you sadly. the russian budget cost these men their lives. it's like buying a Mercedes and not being able to afford the additional cost of a synthetic oil change. Priorities. If you can't afford to rescue men out of this sort of sub, don't build the sub in the first place.

  • lol all u guys who talk like you know something about this are seriously STUPID or ignorant, whichever you like.

  • None of that shit happened wiggam, stop talking shit.

  • Some piece of information:

    1) Clinton phones Putin almost immediately after the accident;

    2) 3 days later the CIA director makes an unprecedented visit to Moscow to meet with his Russian colleagues;

    3) 2 days later the whole of Russian debt to US is annulled;

    4) And Russia gets another 10bn credit from US;

Coincidence? They want you to think it was.

As for me it is clear that torpedo which exploded inside Kursk was not Russian made.

  • Whos torpedo was it than, japanese

are the russians so stupid that they armed an uknown torpedo

  • I would like to see some documentation on that. Back up your statement, please.

  • i'm just happy you didn't find a way to blame Bush LOL

  • Отдых в мир... С любовью из Великобритании

  • FUCK YOU, go fish.

  • What about the few feet at the front of the sub russia denied access to the salvaging company, Or how Russia wouldnt allow a rescue operation. Really makes you wonder..

  • The american's were setting a tone for a new torpedo being sold to china and if u dont believe America had something to do with the trade negotiations and the sinking of the kursk do some research, and a near ww3 was diverted through the lives of 118 mariners. Johnny is right there were 2 american submarines on stand by and one was badly damaged....LOOK IT UP

  • Its true and there is evidence that there was a collision between the Kursk and the USS Memphis. Thats why the Memphis. was in a [finish] dock getting repairs. Also, I heard there were nuclear missiles on the sub and that they were almost launched after the explosion. WWIII was quite literally a turn of a key away.

  • you and deez are probably 911 truthers right?

let's take your premise that the USS Memphis was getting repairs.

    1. is there NOTHING else in the ocean that a sub could "run into"? a) shipwrecks? b) reefs?

how do you explain the 2 separate explosions on the Kursk?

you heard all sorts of stuff--- SOURCES please

    k thanks.

  • So how do you explain that round hole in the side of the sub with the metal pointing inwards, and thats documented on film.Apparently some deal was done between the russians and america.

  • ..johnny, you are right! // sailor

  • torpedos are designed to explode from outside

  • I did not know that torpedos explode from the outside. But something hit the sub leaving a round hole in the side.

I would also like to say that i am not anti american, there is good and bad in all the race's.

  • Noooo the punch a hole and once inside it explodes

  • Jonny, ur so full of shit.... follow the pattern u dick

  • that's true idiot. the menphis sub launched a mk 48 torpedo sinking the kurks. it could have been the beginning of ww3. diplomacy saved us all but 118 mariners have been killed.

  • kursk sank because the torpedo blew up inside the torpedo room, it was proven by russians themselves

  • I heard that in documentary and Puttin cover up the issues

  • After having done research on this matter, it would appear that russians are still lying about the submarine and why it was lost. I would have thought that they have moved on after years of lies and deception, but they still must be hanging on the the old ways judging by that comment; blaming the yanks somethings never change. I am not american or russian and I can take off nmy rose coloured glasses and see the truth, it was a disaster and a horible way to die. from an australian ex submariner.

  • it's funny you have a level headed approach and all the conspiracy theorists have their ideas, they all get thumbs up, and you get a thumbs down, HILARIOUS. you gotta love the internet, swimming with morons. thanks for posting some common sense nclefam. and you actually have submarine experience to boot! all these other guys are marine experts ;-)

  • The main idea of all those who spoke here is that state of Russia aka Kremlin killed these people =.

  • Ok, I will translate: the bottom line is that russian officials lied about mariners being alive. They intentionally delayed an arrival of Norwegian rescuers and their equipment. Another words, russian generals wanted mariners die in order to conceal the truth and save ranks positions

  • I guess Journeyman wants us all to learn Russian.

  • plus SUB FUCKIN TITLES..DAH?

  • the woman at beginning was took aside and injected with sedative/tranquilliser after her initial outburst...she was injected by a nurse who was aided by three men in plain clothes../KGB/ it is on web somewhere showing it in full.free speech at a price.

  • yeah good doco but subtitles would be good.

  • This video is almost unwatchable because there are no translations.

  • sub fucking titles!

  • Its the number 1 fault of journeyman! Get used to it, kills the story... but for some reason we still watch

  • It's journeymanpictures, they never have subtitles.

  • I'm fairly certain this feature is from the Australian program "Foreign Correspondent", which airs on the national broadcaster, ABC ~ I recognised the voice of the narrator. The program would have aired with subtitles ~ watching it without translation is very

    frustrating!

  • subtitles plz

  • Subtitles would indeed rock.

    Nice post though!

  • subtitles please!

  • subtitles please!
