I have come back to the Church after many years of being a Protestant, but I have so little enthusiasm to match my conviction that the Roman Catholic Church is truly Christ`s. The liturgy, so debased, of the Novus Ordo 1970 Missal just aggravates me. I feel scant urge to go to Mass & to hear this travesty of the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. I force myself to go, whereas in the days when the 1962 Missal then 1965 Missal were normative I loved assisting at the Mass. The 1970 Missal enfeables.

@warriorspikes51 Pope simply means father abd has been used in the early church for any bishop and since the 9th century exclusively for the father who is bishop of Rome. Scripture has multiple times where Peter is the first to speak or respond on behalf of the apostles or church. Early patristic writiers leave zero doubt that peter held primacy of place. Could he be weak and scared? Sure, he was human, but he died for his faith. Peter is Rock:no doubt amongst educated biblical scholars.

And what does Kepha mean? It means a rock, the same as petra. (It doesn’t mean a little stone or a pebble. What Jesus said to Simon in Matthew 16:18 was this: ‘You are Kepha, and on thiskepha I will build my Church.’ You see that Jesus was equating Simon and the rock; he wasn’t contrasting them.

In fact, it can be shown that the New Testament books were gathered into one volume and were in circulation long before the Catholic Church claims to have taken its action in 390 at the council of Hippo.

Something sounds odd, while it seemed that by the smoke the abuses due to disobedience to Rome were meant, the priest - commentator - seemed to have implied that the departure from the extraordinary form of the Roman rite itself would be part of this "smoke".

True - he makes a connection that is not necessarily made by Cardinal Noe. However, given the words of Cardinal Ratzinger regarding the abandonment of the EF being a destruction of the building in favor of a new one, this destruction is also arguably a part of this smoke because as we now know, the EF was never legally, but illegally abrogated... and this also is a grave kind of abuse also. What was envisioned by Rome was a revision of the Roman Rite itself, not the creation of the new rite.

"Destruction" as such makes no sense, since it suggests that the Liturgy is totally abolished in favour or a newly created one. This creates the idea that the ordinary form of the Roman Rite "came into being out of nowhere".

I do not see the ordinary form as a new rite at all, and that is what Rome says also (officially).

Rome is not infallible in prudence, only in Faith and Morals... History is full of instances when the church could have acted in a wiser fassion, as an example:

Pope Clement XIV's suppression of the Jesuits contributed significantly to the fall of Christendom- & to the utter glee of Freemasonry!

There was a German book on the development of Liturgy I read which can be read in a manner that actually shows a development that leads to the OF.

I see the OF as somewhat being a simplified version of the EF - and as such it cannot be a mere "fabrication".

Was the former Cardinal and current Pope Benedict XVI specifically refering to the OF?

Remember that significant subtractions do not have a precedent in history, are not a developments... they are more like amputations.

In my honest reading of the text I'm referring to, as far as I can tell, Yes. He was referring to the product of the non-organic development... which has for itself the fruit of the new liturgy.

If the translation I'm reading is accurate, and I understand it properly, it sounds to me like he was talking about the product itself, not how it has been used.
