  • what year is this from?

  • Noticed how you don't hear this beautiful harmony any more? I love it and these guys do it so well! Thanks for posting. Haven't heard this one before. If you ever get a chance to see "Jersey Boys" don't miss it. I have seen it 3 times, and will see it again! I t just doesn't get old.

  • If you have never seen it, Jersey Boys is a great show.

  • I never knew they covered this song until now.

  • Thanks for posting this oh so awesome song... thrilling and romantic......the Four Seasons do it so well never heard them sing it till now.

  • isnt that frankie vali and the four seasons who sang thisx

  • Wow what a incredible song. I am 21 and I love the oldies!!! I dont like todays music. I definitely was born in the wrong decade

  • Sounds like "Rag Doll Meets Little Darlin'" - but I mean that in a good way. This group always had such great arrangement sense and harmony.

  • makes me feel great 2 be alive! and believe me after the year i have just had, that is sum achievement.

  • Ah, what good times. 66 & 67 in Nam. When I wasn't in the bush, this was my favorite song at the NCO on R&R. At firebase, we would blast these oldies over to Charlie during a firefight. Charlie didn't like our taste in music or the heavy lead we were slinging at'im !!!

  • You Got To Love That Song!!!

  • this is music

  • I always thought this & "Donna PrimaDonna" sounded similar...

  • Comment removed

  • That was (is still) real Rock'n Roll.

  • Thank you for posting this.....Love this version......as well as the original one.....THank you again

  • Listen, this is coming from a Black man. Let's not take away from the talent of these White artists. Society was different back in the day. Regardless of where they got the music from, the Four Seasons (and Elvis for that matter) were great artists and performers. People did things differently back then. If you want to be angry with someone, then be angry with a society that supported oppression of minorities (of all colors, just ask the Jews, Chinese, and Irish).

  • @Steacy783 You're not getting the point. I was privileged to grow up not seeing color. Do not hate on the Four Seasons. They made some great songs and had a long career. If you want to be mad at someone, be mad at the politicians of the '50s and 60s who were too scared to change society.

  • wow! just WOW!

  • Frankie Valli could sing the freakin Seattle phone and it would be wonderful. Great vocals as usual and Nicky on bass was awesome.

  • version buenissima, si te gusta este grupo tienen una version de " oh carol " muy buena

  • @CalypieAndroid - just lulz to the max dude! you're right, too!

  • THESE WHITE GUYS 50 YEARS LATER FINALLY ADMITTED THE BLACK GROUP CALLED THE GLADIOLAS, AND MAURICE WILLIAMS, WAS THE ORIGINAL SINGERS. IT TOOK THEM 50 YEARS TO TELL THE TRUTH.

  • One of my favourite bands!

  • there are 6 people who do not like Frankie Valli and the four seasons??? well I guess it takes all kinds to make a world. I wonder if they were truthfull????

  • Обалдеть!

  • Oh....just got goose bumps.....great version ....

  • You Have got to be kidding! Frankie Valley has been here and made that song long ago...If your listening to this listen to his others..you may get hooked.

  • I've always loved this version by the Seasons!

  • Actually, The original version of this song was done by "The Gladiolas."

    The Diamonds only covered it...

Still a great cover (Both the Diamonds' and this one)!

  • I love oldies music because i can never get sick of hearing it, also it makes me feel good when i feel down. Even though this music was way before my time, I love it so much.

  • I like it, not many groups do a good job singing others . (whatever that means).

  • Belt it out Frankie !!!

  • @DidYouJustMakeThatUp ..no one does it like the Diamonds..but still very good!..

  • This must have been done around 1964. Has a bit of Rag Doll towards the end..Excellent version, IMO..

  • @camelguy12 This version was recorded on Vee Jay Records, so it had to be recorded in either 1962 or 1963. In early 1964, the Four Seasons switched to Philips Records.

  • @flbadcatowner It was 1963

  • fabulous version

    5 stars

  • OMG!!!!

  • wow

  • is that frankie on lead vocals?

  • @IAINoodle Yes, that is Frankie out in front.

  • Wow...what memories of the 60s...love this!!...Suzi

  • Another special version! Very Special Little Darling , I love you !!!

  • Never heard this vrsion. GREAT! Any of you guys know if it's available on disc?.

  • @trackieben, it's available. Look for The Four Seasons Entertain You on Amazon.com, an audioa CD from 2007.

  • Greaaat!!

  • Frankie Valli is unmistakeable!

  • WOW! Never heard this version. They've given the DIAMONDS version a sort of Latin American beat! I have always liked this group and I am not disappointed by their version!

  • Sensational!

  • The best version of this song !! Respects however to the Diamonds version too at any age !!:)

  • @Steacy783

The Gladiolas version is just as excellent!!!

  • @timotastic 57

  • @BeautifulSightings I meant what was the year when Four Seasons covered it... I doubt it was in 1957...

  • wow, talkingchinese, really?

are you really so offended by that small little comment? you need to take a chill pill then give yourself a good kick in the pants for taking that comment to heart

    MY GOD, man.

  • Some trivia: This song was originally recorded by the The Gladiolas, whose lead singer was Maurice Williams. They changed their name to The Zodiacs and recorded "Stay," which The 4 Seasons also covered.

  • right....

  • my god what a lovely version:)) on what album is this from?

    //Andy

  • It's from The 4 Seasons Entertain You. There is also a very good cover of "Somewhere" on that album.

  • Hello Hello:D Thanx:)) I must look for it tomorrow:) It´s the middle of the night in Sweden now,so I must go to bed:) Happy Halloween:)

  • Grande voz!!!!!

  • Dawn go away was one of the best songs of the 1960s and Frankie Vallie was and is great as are the rest of the four seasons

  • Who was the drummer on this cut ?? He drives the whole song and a does a great job at that.

  • omg I love this music, My dad grew up listening this music, I used to ride with my dad He alway play Doo woop classic music. :)

  • Comment removed

  • I use to play the REAL original on the jukebox on Bank Street in Newark, NJ I think in '55 or '56.

The Gladiolas (not the Diamonds). But I love the Four Seasons. They're from Newark also.

  • i this version way better then the original

  • For you people who haven't seen Jersey Boy's yet you better.

  • I am looking for tickets right now.

  • now this is music, unlike the crap we have today

  • aint that the truth!

  • The music we have today includes this, so stop the hatin'.

  • @subarufreak555 agree

  • @subarufreak555 the original version actually sounds boring compared to this they picked up the tempo and it must be the 5 th season bob crewe hand clapping

  • @subarufreak555 you got that right and bob crew and bob guadio were the song writers and of course the sound of frankie was to good to be true!

  • Tintarella mou this one's for you.

    Love you

    Mum

    xx

  • Whether this is the best version of Little Darlin is just a matter of taste.

But you have to admit, this version is top rate and great to listen to, right ?

    Right !

  • How cute. I remember listening to The Diamonds when I was like, 8 xD and when I heard this I even got more hook on the song. KUDOS, for posting The Four Season's version :3

  • With respect, this version is rather lame compared to the original. Valli and his group are working way too hard to accomplish that which The Diamonds gave so naturally . And they did it with fun.

  • Sounds like they are giving it the same vocal tratment as new mexican rose with all the yi yi yis .

  • this is the first time listening to this and it sounds so great =D

  • I grew up listening to The Four Seasons but never heard this one. What a great cover. If the Diamonds hadn't done this, The Seasons would have been the perfect group to make this record. I was blown away!

  • great blend of the diamonds and seasons sound....had no idea this song existed. Did Frankie sing the right lyrics?

Thought he said " wrong to try and love you"

intead of "wrong to try and love two" picky picky

  • bkgklgilgiog

  • I listened to the Four Seasons version, the version from The Diamonds, the original, and this one again, one after the other. I really like this rendition the best. I love music from the Four Seasons and I loved Frankie Valli's falsetto voice from the moment I heard it (four years and counting!). They are seriously my most favorite oldies group of all time (not counting the 70's, but that era doesn't exactly count as oldies lol).

  • I found this four days ago and I havent been able to stop singing D: It makes me get up and burst into some wierd dance haha. The four seasons are the best<3

  • quite agree found myself doing same!four seasons are great

  • Raise your drink to all the wierd dancing going on to this video.......

    CHEERS !!

  • This is possibly the best cover of a songg in history

  • Its about time i found this song lol

  • fantastic version.......had never heard it before.......but its right up there behind

the Gladiolas, then the 4 Seaons, and then the Diamonds...

  • Very good cover five Stars

  • My band teacher is Pulchi..... isn't that cool.

  • You must mean Jerry Polci, who was the Four Seasons drummer from the mid 70's until the early 90's who sung most of the lead on "December 1963 (Oh What A Night)".

  • lyn u r my life!

  • for the record, the Diamonds version wasn't the original either.

Maurice Williams and the Zodiacs had the original and Williams also wrote the song.

  • wow .... probably the best sound i have ever heard on youtube .... wanst even aware my spaekers sounded so good ..... koooool

  • I know!!!!

  • This package really has it all... what 50's were all about!

  • diferente,no es una simple copia

  • The diamonds just got it right.

  • the more i listen to this version, i'm beging to change my mind. I think Frankie or the Diamonds?

  • wow this is growing on me big time i think i like it better than the original version.

  • Whew! No matter what the fabulous Seasons 4 ever do, they can stamp it with their own incredible style, while keeping the best of the original! Thanks!

  • Love Frankie and the seasons! Great and different version, But I think the diamonds Kick Arse with their version. Great Sound whatever!!!!

  • will I like them is think thay stick the own music the cound do it

  • thanks :)

  • Bob Gaudio and Bob Crewe sure wrote great arrangements for The Four Seasons including a lot of great covers. I had not heard this one before, but I like it.

  • Dennis Yost & the Classics 4 also did a version of this song and it sounds very similar to this arrangement.

  • The Diamonds did not originally record this song. Maurice Williams and the Gladiolas, folks! Now that is 'little darlin''!

  • You're absolutely right

  • I know but Frankie Valli showed back when I was a kid dat not only Black Folks could get down wif it!!!

  • you've got to be good to sing this song, it sounds like rag doll, great version great band.

  • coz they didn't pay them their royalties.VJ was going bust.

  • i love the four seasons they def know how to remake a song

  • !!!!!!!!

    I want this sobad.

  • whos rele deep voice is that?

  • One would think that it's the Four Seasons' bass, Nick Massi.

  • It's Nick Massi, top left on the picture. He was their vocal arranger and left in the late 60's to be replaced by Joe Long.If you dig this,go and see Jersey Boys at Prince Edward Theatre...I promise you'll love it!!!

  • Actually, the original version was by the Gladiolas in 1957. The Diamonds merely covered it and had the bigger hit (both versions made the Top 40). This song and "STAY" in 1960 were written by Maurice Williams.(he was the lead singer of the Gladiolas and later the Zodiacs).

  • Thanks for the info. I love this song. Everyone's version. ;o)

  • Another great remake. Nice take on the original. Cheers Four Seasons!

  • Wow, never knew they did this as well.

  • The Americasn Italians invented Doo Wop - based on their own Napolitano melodies. This spread to other neighborhoods and ... that's that!

Frank Valli is a great talent. last appeared in the Sopranos as a mob Boss.

  • As an Italian American I have to correct your statement. Italians didn't invent doo wop. R&B vocal groups were well into their prime before the first Italian doo wop record was released (Angel Face by The Neons). The Italians were borrowing what already existed. There were two Italian R&B groups before that (Cirino Circolai and The Bowties & Teddy Randazzo and the Three Chuckles) but they were not doo wop groups. Even The 3 Chuckles borrowed R&B arrangements for Runaround.

  • does it really matter who started it off?...every one borrowed or stole styles from each other over the centuries

  • Beautiful! I love the Four Seasons!!!

  • This is fabulous....i love the orginal jersey boys - a real tribute to Italiano Americana!!
