@debbiedeepr85 the Sammy Choy method: preheat an oven to 350F. You can wrap the meat in the leaves, then with twine and wrap in foil. Put in a shallow roasting pan with a couple cups of water and roast for about 4 hours. Though this method is shorter, the slow cooker method renders it's own juices and comes out more flavourful.
can you make garlic chicken, like fatboys makes?! and I wish I could find banana leafs in kansas. I gotta ask my grandma maybe she can send me some, and that salt! I have hawaiian salt and use that for my kalua pork! mmm im hungry and homesick!!
@MrJingjong YAY cant wait to see it!!! my fave. place to eat in hawaii was zippys and fatboys and ive been craving fatboys garlic chicken!! I always tell my mom to send me some and shes like itll be rotten! LOL
i have never tried Polynesian food before but i'd be more then willing to try :D. also for the sake is there any specific brand that you need to make this? or does it depend on each person's tastes? if not which one would you recommend?
XLNT dish as always Jay! I have a banana leaf in my pantry but I smoked it by mistake and was all twisted up for a couple of days! Love that tender pork!
Not sure if you've heard about it or not, but chef from Cookingwithdog has been seriously injured while riding her bike in a Tokyo suburb. Is there anything that the YouTube community can do to help her? Maybe a "get well soon" video would help to lift her spirits?
Excellent video, man. I am inspired by your demonstration. I went to one luau with my wife in Hawaii during one of my business trips. The hosts cooked a whole pig in the ground as you described and it was great! I've never had anything like it before or since. It had a very unique flavor. I would love to recapture that with your recipe. By the way, I didn't care for the poi but the locals loved it. Thanks again! Oh, your spam musubi rocks, just like I found at gas station on Kauai.
This really made me hungry ... I use to cook meat for hours in the oven on the lowest heat possible, but that cooking container looked good. Never seen anything like this around here. I might have to check out where to get that. THX4 the video! Looks delicious! (^_^)
Here 's the deal, my mom lived in Hawaii for 5 yrs my Brother was born in Hawaii. My mom love the food, she learned how to cook a lot of the dishes . We plan to go back this summer, and I CANNOT WAIT TO EAT PIG, thats right I can't wait. Mr Jingjong you are so funny. Eat right over the sink, how did you know that's how I ate. LOL
I visited family over in New Zealand (I'm Australian) they put on a traditional Hāngi for us, at first I thought it was strange, but the food was amazing. I don't think I have ever eaten so much in one sitting before.
HAAWAAIIAAN!! i love dis version of da Hawaiian plate! lol... looks ONO ana i cam already smell da Kalua!! can't wait to try dis version out! Much Mahalo!!
