choices are rather "dull"...and the result is that the singer [and, by extension, the overall impression] sounds "cheesy".....
A superior jazz-trained pianist could work wonders with a singer like this, who actually has a pleasing voice.....I only wish you could imagine [as I can] how he would sound with a Bill Evans {R.I.P.} providing sensitive
support....
P.S.: Sorry if I offended any one out there reading this...I hope u accept my apology
Thanks for your critique! The "Never" was a 1/2 step off your right. That bugs me every time I listen! lol This was a show where I played a drunk so some cheesyness is okay. The pianist was in no way a professional so i understand you there. Thanks for your opinions.
1- Always allow the pianist [or accompanist on whatever instrument] to give you [the singer] an introduction so that you will be able to start singing "on pitch".....unless,
of course, you are blessed with "perfect pitch" [unfortunately, this singer is not...his "acapella" intro, i.e. "I'll Never..." is a 1/2 step flat...]
2- Find a pianist [or other accompanist] who
REALLY knows the tune...[comment 2 be continued next post]
Pretty good for a high school production....student singers and student musicians.....
