if you see live performances from prior to recording the songs the words are largely different. Which is quite interesting. Yet the melody is the same.

Actually, he WAS concerned with the lyrics, albeit not until (i believe) after Fecal Matter broke up. Teen spirit went through about seven drafts. listen to the lyrics of Lithium, or Rape ME, or just about any other song from Nirvana, they DO have meaning. But the meaning is not strictly confined to those exact lyrics that were recorded. rules can be bent. Thats how it works.
