Rod seemed to announce for every packager around this time, I'm surprised Barry & Enright didn't approach him to fill in on TTD and TJW whenever Charlie was absent. Taking nothing away from Johnny Gilbert, of course, he was great too :-)
The only announcers who announced "The $25,000 Pyramid" (CBS) and "The $100,000 Pyramid" (Syndication) were the late Jack Clark, Jerry Bishop (now the voice of "Judge Judy"), Dean Goss, Johnny Gilbert ( the voice of "Jeopardy!"), Charlie Tuna ( a popular DJ in LA and the voice of "Scrabble"), Bob Hilton, Charlie ("Wheeeeeeeeel of Fort-uneee!") O'Donnell and of course, the late great Rod Roddy.
Does anyone have the episode that had the clip with Denise Millier at 0:08 ? If so, would it be possible that someone could post the entire episode in parts?
Don't believe that webpage. They often have a tendency of lying. I looked at nearly every game show tape trading collection, and not one sign of any Pyramid episode with Gene Wood. So, therefore, you are entirely wrong.
I know he doesn't cite it, but perhaps Xanfan's got some encyclopedia that listed Wood as a $25K Pyramid announcer. (Mine doesn't, but mine is an older book)
Also, Gene did announce Bruce Forsyth's Hot Streak and Your Number's up, so that puts the kibosh on the G-T theory.
Other non-Goodson game shows Gene Wood announced for are Win, Lose or Draw, Love Connection, and the Baby Races which was his last game show he announced full-time, and was hosted by the recently departed Fred Travelena.
Bob Eubanks was a better host of Newlywed game than Carnie Wilson is. She is only there to look good for all the men. Doesnt matter tho. love the pyramid music.
A grim note of irony, on the day before, Johnny Olson suffered the stroke that would eventually be fatal to him the following Saturday, Oct 12. The Price is Right was scheduled to tape that week but were canceled that week due to Olson's stroke.

@tpir1972
You can make that quadruple duty, as he also auditioned for The Price Is Right, after Johnny Olson's death.

Hey, ClassicTVFan47... Have you got Gene Wood announces The $25,000 episode, Yet?
PTH4Fun 2 years ago
Gene never announced on Pyramid.
bjp20 2 years ago
Why not?
PTH4Fun 2 years ago
He never did announce on the show! He was too busy with other shows to work with Pyramid.
TVLubber 2 years ago
Well, actually Gene Wood might've announced The $25,000 Pyramid, Possibaly.
PTH4Fun 2 years ago
He did not! What makes you think that he did?!
TVLubber 2 years ago
Well, According to SuperShow 8000 page The pyramid page said it was Gene Wood announced.

But The SuperShow 8000 page said it..!

Or maybe Gene announced a week nobody has in their collection. Hard to believe, but there are a few episodes nobody has. :P
Don't call someone "entirely wrong" when you don't have enough proof. It makes you look bad.
supersaver87 2 years ago
But he can't prove that Wood announced Pyramid, either. That makes him look worse.
TVLubber 2 years ago
Besides, in the 70's, 80's, and early 90's, he was only allowed to announce on Goodson-Todman shows.

I know he doesn't cite it, but perhaps Xanfan's got some encyclopedia that listed Wood as a $25K Pyramid announcer. (Mine doesn't, but mine is an older book)

supersaver87 2 years ago
All those non G-T shows were short-lived. Besides, I know he did not do any Bob Stewart shows.
TVLubber 2 years ago
Um...yes, they were short lived. Not sure what that has to do with the G-T theory, but whatev.
My encyclopedia lists shows that Gene announced, and it does not list any Bob Stewart shows. If that encyclopedia's right, then you're right.
