Throughout Christian history antisemitism has been because of religious reasons. Not only Jews were persecuted but also members of other religions. Antisemitism was then secularized around the time of Wilhelm Marr and especially around the time of the Nazi era. The secularization of antisemitism came to be similar to racism. You are right on that. But the term Jew is not just a religious term. It's more of a nationality. Thats why terms such as Atheist Jews can be used but not Atheist Christian.

Here in the Bible Belt where I live (TN. to be exact) it's taught to you not just at home but in school in subtle ways but thankfully my mom was not racist in fact she used to risk her life to keep people from being lynched. She's even ok with me being gay. She grew up in a prejudiced family but she's the type to question everything. So I grew up having friends of all kinds. It's changing ever so slowly here though so I try to have hope. I'm a peacemaker so I hope one day we all have peace.
