It's sad that this was the last film for both George O'Hanlon and Mel Blanc, the respective voice actors for George Jetson and Mr. Spacely. They both passed away in 1989, 1 year before the film hit theaters. O'Hanlon died of a stroke on February 11th. Blanc died of heart disease and emphysema 5 months later, on July 10th. Don't feel too sad though, as O'Hanlon was 76 years old and Blanc was 81 years old.
I first saw this movie when it was in theaters....it was the first movie where i saw the new Universal 75th logo, and a trailer for the Universal theme park in Florida opening. Great movie I saw with my late nana. Saw it again on VHS, and again in HD on Universal HD (HDnet movies now has the broadcast rights to it).....still ahead of its time in CGI and animation...what was the budget on this movie? I can't find it on wikipedia or google....this movie sadly bombed in theaters but did well on vhs
hey i want the movie and i try so many torrent though i didn found THE JETSONS movie plz plz plzzzzz cn any one tel me d site frm wer i cm download the movieee......plzzz
When I was young, I used to have a huge crush on Rudy 2, the annoying robot kid in the movie. My mom was glad I was so into him, because she thought Rudy 2 was a better person for a 7-year-old to look up to than Charles Manson. Luckily, I grew out of that phase quickly, and my bedroom walls were soon adorned with hundreds of pictures of ol' Chuck once more.
Oh, I LOVED this movie when I was a kid. I watched it all the time.....man, what happened to good animated movies like this? I truly miss those days and wish I could go back again.
@vikkess a teen singer in the late 1980's biggest song was called "I Think We're Alone Now". not bad, not brilliant. but wrong voice for Judy Jetson. they actually recorded Janet Waldo, the true voice of Judy but discarded her for Tiffany...big mistake
This was a fun spin-off of the classic cartoon but the biggest problem was Tiffany was the voice of Judy instead of Janet Waldo, Tiffany still could have done the songs with Janet as Judy. I mean Janet made Judy who she is even in the 80's seasons of Jetsons. I did saw this movie when it came out in theaters 2 times when i was 9.
When I first saw this trailer at a young age, I remember being scared stiff at the opening of the trailer. The creepy music, the narrator's deep voice, then jumping in sheer fright at George Jetson screaming "Stop this crazy thing!". It all happened like an online screamer, and to this day, that sequence scares the heck out of me.
"All Right, People. I Heard Warner Brothers Will Make a Jetson Movie. I invented this cast, is not real. Let Me Know What You Think, OK ?: - Steve Carrel = George - Danny DeVito = Mr Spacely - Reese Witherspoon = Judy - Jennifer Aniston = Jane - Dylan or Cole Sprouse = Elroy That´s All , Falks. I Think DeVito as Spacely, because no other Can Play Him
"This movie is dedicated to the memory of George O'Hanlon and Mel Blanc." That was what brought tears to my eyes, especially since it showed up at the start of the end credits when the song "With You All The Way" started.
Back when I was little watching this, it was soo futuristic and it still is today. This Jetsons' cartoon has perils, action, comedy, and drama that are more amusing compare to the series. The endding was so warm, it made me cry (only as a child). It still is an amazing movie today. Such memories.
In addition to the passing of Mel Blanc and George O'Hanlon (and the infamous Janet Waldo-for-Tiffany switch), Patric Zimmerman had to do Elroy's voice (regular voice actor Daws Butler had died in 1988 and never got to reprise the role for this film).
I always hated the fact that Tiffany did the voice of Judy Jetson for this movie instead of the original TV cartoon voice Janet Waldo.
Waldo had recorded the lines but the film makers didn't use them. Tiffany to rerecord them later. This was so that she would sing those songs for the soundtrack and attract a teen audience.
The songs kinda work on thier own but are ridiculously out of place in the movie. Tiffany can sing but she's no voice actor and it really shows. She's just awful!
Indeed. The original series appeared the same year I did, 1962. Now, if you see the trailer guess at which point I went "blechhhhhhhhhhh! Forget this!"? That's right, about 0:53 in ...but who knows may catch someday to see if there were good parts.
I surprisingly found out that this wasn't released until 1990. It was once scheduled to be released during the 1989 holiday season, but the release date was moved to about a year later in order to avoid competing against The Little Mermaid.
Great movie, i'm a huge fan of the toon series and enjoyed this movie since i saw it in theaters in 1990 when i was 8 years old. Can't wait for the DVD and of the second season on DVD.
Great, here in mexico we have the dvd of the movie in anamorphic widescreen since 2007 and is official from Universal Pictures, but is only on Stereo and has no extras and it doesn't include the english track =(.
Mel Blanc didn't do this film, because he died a year before the film came out and Daws Butler didn't do this film, because he died two years before the film came out.
No, this was actually Mel Blanc's final voiceover work before his death and the movie was dedicated to him, so if this movie were to be remembered for anything it would probably be for that. I'm surprised he could still manage to play Mr. Spacely so close to his death considering all the yelling his character does in the film.
This was also George O"Hanlon's final voiceover as George Jetson before his death as well. This movie is also dedicated to him. George O'Hanlon played the voice of George Jetson ever since DAY 1 of The Jetsons.
As for Mel Blanc, he said playing Mr. Spacely was always one of his most favorite roles, another one was Yosemite Sam. You can tell because both sound very similiar. Mel Blanc, the man of 1,000 voices. He played most of the toon voices in Who Framed Roger Rabbit.
I love this movie. I used to watch it a lot when I was at Camp O'Fun. George O'Hanlon and Mel Blanc 2 actors who got started in Vaudeville passed away after this movie completed filming. Bill Hanna said "I looked at George and Mel and no words came out of their mouth." "I then knew that they had strokes." They are watching from heaven on how we love this movie
It's so sad that they don't make good cartoon movies like this anymore...everything is all CGI, don't get me wrong..that's cool..but to see that all the time is very tiring..along with shallow storylines.
Agreed. I don't mind the CGI stuff,it's just that EVERYONE seems to be doing it for films while the hand-drawn stuff is merely regulated to crappy tv cartoons nowadays. Pixar's the only one with the best stories, sure I've seen SOME good stories nowadays outside them but they're the ones with the truly timeless ones. Also, the hand-drawn stuff was better with heartfelt moments. The CGI is mostly humor-based,which isn't bad but we miss the heart.
To me too much CGI in a movie represents laziness and cheapness. Many successful movies were made without CGI and I still don't see why they still can't be. Especially in live-action movies.
@truepureblue Heh heh, I just saw this movie tonight... this thing is FULL of CGI and it's a terrible, terrible movie. Movies like How To Train Your Dragon and Up are infinitely superior in every way. It's just childhood nostalgia that create the illusion that it was ever better.
Although I loved watching it again. Damn childhood nostalgia!
Not everything is CGI, there is still some 2D, some Stop Motion and Claymation thanks to the success of Coraline and Wallace and Gromit in Curse of the WereRabbit
@truepureblue That and the CGI designs are not only totally inconsistent with the original character designs, but it's just ... getting very, very old.
Can any one tell me where i can find a copy of the movie? I have been scouring the internet for weeks now trying to find a copy or may be an original in our city... but it is ... almost non-existent.
I remember watching it when i was a bit younger, i want to watch it again and see if i still feel the same about the movie.
