When they finally realized that I was perfectly capable of erasing them from my life, they started getting all accepting and trying to bring me back. Not too long I discovered that they are using me for my income. I hate them. I've left again, and I hope they fucking rot.

I started Uni today, looks like I'm doing a double degree. So yeah, my future's a lot brighter than theirs. They will never appreciate me, but I can at least feel some satisfaction out of their envy. I don't need other people anyway. Haha.

I think its becuz they feel like its something they did or didnt do..my sons dad nvr spent much time wth him-but spends time wth his brother-i dnt knw if he doesnt feel comfortable around him or what. like he doesnt hv anything in common or to talk abt (manly things) but it really hurts him. He acts like he doesnt care but he does. Whn we were married I tried 2 talk 2 my husb abt it but he refused. He nvr says anything negative abt it he just doesnt acknowledge him being gay. myb 1 day he will

I was terrified of telling my dad but he kind of ruined it. When I did tell him he said, well, I kind of figured. He said I had to be at least as gay as all my friends. I suppose we should give our parents more credit for being aware.
My coming out was pretty boring too. It's great to have open-minded parents, but if I made a video about my coming out story, it would be like "I told my parents, they said 'cool beans!' and life went on." That's it. Not very exciting or heart-wrenching. At all. XD

The fact is, your dad did the right thing that if he had worries and problems with your being gay, he worked those out with your mom and didn't lay them on you. One of the things I've heard about coming out lately is that it can be really hard for kids (especially if they're younger) to deal with their parents' freaking out. Parents job is to send messages of acceptance and work through their problems with another adult. Sounds like your dad's instincts were really good.
@rabbitfish63 I never thought of it like that. Who better to talk to it about then the one person who can actually make him talk and speak his mind, right? My dad did come to me and said he was okay with it, that he just wasnt ready to talk about it until he was completely ready and understood a bit more. Struggling with if I'll ever be able to tell my parents, as my entire family is Christian. They frequently talk about how homosexuality is a sin and, well, you know how that ends. One question: Do you have any regrets telling your dad thru a letter instead of a face-to-face encounter where he could tell you how he feels about it?
I kind of due, just cause maybe he may have asked me some question right then and there but at the same time i think he still would have kept to himself and not ask me much of anything at all. So its kind of, either way something would have been a miss. Ya, its tough when you think your parents are against everything you are. But if they really love you they'll look past religion and see your more important.
I think I can understand why your dad hasn't spoken to you about It.
I must have been a shock for him.
The most important thing is that he accepted the fact that you're gay and that he's there for you. Even If he still has a lot of questions and thoughts.

I was terrified of telling my dad but he kind of ruined it. When I did tell him he said, well, I kind of figured. He said I had to be at least as gay as all my friends. I suppose we should give our parents more credit for being aware.

My coming out was pretty boring too. It's great to have open-minded parents, but if I made a video about my coming out story, it would be like "I told my parents, they said 'cool beans!' and life went on." That's it. Not very exciting or heart-wrenching. At all. XD
By the way, HUGE KINGDOM HEARTS FAN!!! Well, fan of Square in general.

The fact is, your dad did the right thing that if he had worries and problems with your being gay, he worked those out with your mom and didn't lay them on you. One of the things I've heard about coming out lately is that it can be really hard for kids (especially if they're younger) to deal with their parents' freaking out. Parents job is to send messages of acceptance and work through their problems with another adult. Sounds like your dad's instincts were really good.

@rabbitfish63 I never thought of it like that. Who better to talk to it about then the one person who can actually make him talk and speak his mind, right? My dad did come to me and said he was okay with it, that he just wasnt ready to talk about it until he was completely ready and understood a bit more. Even if he never does, just knowing that is enough considering how he was raised. Thanks for making me see things that way.

@brama1969 Well, I guess some of us just have a different view on it. But to each his own. My dad is fine with me being me. He just needs to get use to seeing and hearing what he's never seen and heard before. He's never been much of a talker on any subject, good or bad.

My closest friends know I'm gay, also my brother knows and hes basically my best friend in the entire world. My parents don't know I'm gay and their extremely homophobic, but I'm not exactly close with them. I'm 21 and the way I see it, it isn't really their business who I see or sleep with. My world is about to be turned upside down in a couple of months though, I needed a place to live for the next year and I'm living with 4 straight guys who don't know I'm gay. Should be interesting...

Hey Emilio, thanks for sharing your story .. I'm 24 and just beginning to accept myself as a gay man. I've only told my two best friends (both girls lol). Struggling with if I'll ever be able to tell my parents, as my entire family is Christian. They frequently talk about how homosexuality is a sin and, well, you know how that ends. One question: Do you have any regrets telling your dad thru a letter instead of a face-to-face encounter where he could tell you how he feels about it?

I kind of due, just cause maybe he may have asked me some question right then and there but at the same time i think he still would have kept to himself and not ask me much of anything at all. So its kind of, either way something would have been a miss. Ya, its tough when you think your parents are against everything you are. But if they really love you they'll look past religion and see your more important.

I think I can understand why your dad hasn't spoken to you about It.
I must have been a shock for him.
The most important thing is that he accepted the fact that you're gay and that he's there for you. Even If he still has a lot of questions and thoughts.

oh and the symbol is called a curse mark, It doesnt mean much in itself. But it does to me, I actually have it tattooed on my upper left back center shoulder ha ha ha wow I made that explamation complicated.
