You need to stop telling people that this works on 3.1. Folks this will not work on firmware 3.1. In the past this worked on version 3.0.1 and I think this user is making a mistake informing you that it will work. If you follow his instructions using this video, I promise you won't be able to unlock your iphone every again, not until the Dev Team release a fix for firmware 3.1.

on the redsnow.exe file... right click on it and click on the Combatibility tab, then check the box "Run this program in combatibility mode:" from the drop menu choose Windows XP Service Pack 3..

I downloaded the iphone firmware for the 1st Gen model, but it downloaded as a zip file (win rar), i had to manually change it to the .ispw file instead. by going

Control Panel >>> Folder Options >>> then uncheck the 'hide know extensions box' (make sure to re-check afterwards tho)

That way you can manually change the firmware file from .zip to .ispw
