The organ is frequently out of tune because the drastical weather changes in temperature and humidity that we have in Mexico City (we have not a well defined seasons like in USA), also have in mind that is a XVII century instrument placed on a very seismic city builded over a lake, so the cathedral is sinking every day !!
Get a load of those chamades! They pack one hell of a punch! A shame they weren't in tune though. But they're phenomenal either way. Imagine how great that would have sounded farther down the nave. Wow!
Because they were using the 2 ranks "chamade" trumpet stops, and everything was quite out of tune! :-( What a shame for such a place and such an organ, but I've no idea of the context of this recording and I find the sound impressive, if I imagine in tune... I'd like to hear all the organ playing. The Organ itself - from outside - seems really nice, I agree!
which song is that???

Its the organ by Joseph de Sesma 1695, no Nasarre. The organ by Nasarre is in side of evangele.

but this way makes it feels more baroque, I think... most of early baroque organs produce sounds of 'mean' tone... I just like it that way...

why do spanish organs always sound like a huge bombard or reeds? the organ itself is really pretty, but i don't like the sound personally.

I was going to ask the same question! And if the stop is out of tune, then why use it?!?

well if you listen to some of their flute stops, you'll find that the reeds actually complement them nicely.
