Phil is a murderer so he should be in prison and the way he treated Ben was awful. I felt so bad for Ben when his Dad's girlfriend wished him luck on test and all his dad could say is that he would probably fail. Apparently Phil was never given any lessons in manners or karma. That being said a lot of people get damaged by their parents but they don't all turn around and do them same to others. On the end Ben alone is responsible for the things he's done or will do in the future.

Ben has done some despicable things recently, starting with falsely accusing Christian of coming on to him some months ago.

Yes, Phil has been a horrible father and person sometimes, but now and then Phil tries to show he cares for Ben, in his old-fashioned macho way.

I don't know why everyone's so surprised. Ben is acting exactly like his father, he's following the example in front of him. And I think Phil did have it coming. He treats Ben like crap, constantly mocking him, humiliating him, putting him down. I'm sure he thought it was all in good fun, all a joke, or some warped way of "making a man" of him, but there's only so much you can take before something snaps. Ben is damaged and Phil is the one who damaged him. What goes around comes around.
