  • Have been hooked on using this at the gym since joining a few months ago. For whatever reason this is the only xtrainer/(or treadmill) I've found I can use that doesn't give me back twinges after a long session. I do tend to get a touch of dead foot (right side) after 30 mins or so, but other than that it's all good. The amount of calories i can burn for the 'perceived effort' is awesome, just wish I could afford to have one of these at home!

  • I went on this for the first time today. I am in love with it! I've been going on the Precor Efx 576i for a few years now and am bored. The AMT seems so fun because you can go from a stepper to a run without changing anything on the machine. It seems to give a very realistic feel of running up a hill. Also it was burning calories mighty fast.

  • iam using precor AMT for the past 1 year .almost everyday for 2 to 2.5hrs.my review after 1 year of using precor AMT would be "much hyped machine".its good for old people, not for 20-35 yrs range.if u r doing cardio for more than 1hr per day n want to sweat it out, this is not the machine for u.i would prefer precor stepper which is the best of precor cardio machines.amt is for beginners n it doesnt give good result like PRECOR EFX OR PRECOR STEPPER.over all its a much HYPED machine.

  • @MrSarwan1980 How can you say that it's only good for beginners when you can easily increase your speed, stride length, or the resistance level? Also, if you weren't getting a good workout, what made you use it for over 2 hours a day for a year!?

  • I love this machine and max it out on stride and resistance. I am not in that great of shape and I am 50 years olds, so I bet I am not the only one that wishes the resistance could be increased.

  • I love these. I wish Gold's Sacramento would buy some.

  • I have been using the AMT since January. I am not a fitness geek. It is the only machine at the gym I go to regulary because it allows me to rock or "dance" to my music and doesn't mess with my stride like an eleptical and I can control the speed at anytime unlike a treadmill. So I can control my heartrate much better - all according to my music. I have lost 25 pounds and get really bothered when someone else is on the machine when I show up... LOVE this machine!

  • Try to keep an eye on your cal/min burn display which would give you a better idea of how consistently the machine measures your effort over time (I think it's the first choice, second is strides/min, third is distance -i think)

  • Love this Gazelle machine! Too bad it costs like $8k, or else I'd get one for my house!

  • i have been using the amt for about 3 years, it is hard to go back to anything else, its intense but smooth, i used to burn 600 in 30 mins when i was 26, now i can get about 580-90 on a good day, its definetly worth a gym membership if u want a excellent challenging cardio experience.

  • god i hate gym people.

  • I really am obsessed with this machine!!!

  • i tried it today, it's ingenious

  • Biceps (pulling handles)

Traps & tris (pushing handles fwd)

Ladder ( lower body stance, widen gait & rhythmically use all 4 limbs like you're climbing ladders in donkey kong!)

Tons of fun, I love the AMT!

  • Update: I've been using the AMT for over 4 mo. now and have not gotten bored at all. I've started using it for an hour at MAX (20) resistance (though it remains challenging) and burn a whopping 1100 cal!!

Superior caloric burn compared to any other cardio trainer and never a boring moment as you can switch various styles.

For AMT fans here's some moves I've made: running (pushing off with pedals more) upright pec pump (pulling in handles by contraction of pecs, hands barely holding on)

    biceps

  • @digitaltrix How accurate do you think the calorie ticker is cuz i burn 861-856 on 20 for 60 min plus the cool down.

  • @melinafan81 Actually I've wondered about that as well and did some amateur research on the interwebs--the consensus being that these machines are calibrated pretty well not dead on but within a range of 10-30 cal on the mark shown.

Add in ambient temps and you've possibly rounded about to the figure or more (for eg. some days my gym is warm & I sweat more those days burn more cals too)

Also, if it helps I rotate amongst several units and always reach the same # so at least they're consistent

  • I have tried this machine at the gym a few times and I just can't get it to work right! I can only make it step. I want to run on it and I just can't make it do it consistently. Definitely frustrating.

  • I'm a runner and I find training on this machine to be awkward. There is too much freedom of motion, which is not a realistic approximation to running. With running, your body has to move in a specific way as dictated by the ground, so it helps when the machine is at least a little bit like running, but with less impact. With this machine, I suspect one can develop unsymmetric running form.

  • I love this machine ... I can blast 450 calorie in 30 min on this s.o.b. at my local YMCA

  • It is as fluid as running or dancing and really is up to the user to move the way you want.

I use 15 resistance & every now and then get a pump and push my stride harder. Plus no itb or other knee strains. Exhaustive workout but in a more natural, balanced way like my tread workouts. I'm in love.

    MZK

Disclaimer: I know I sound like I'm promoting this cardio machine sent from heaven but I'm in no way associated with precor- just lucky my gym has 10 units :D one day I shall own one too!

  • As an ultra-runner I recently felt I'd hit a plateau with my workouts indoor and the treadmill while giving me the ultimate freedom to enjoy running, just wasn't challenging anymore.

Using elliptical is an iffy thing and for me it just never felt natural enough;I'd lose my fluidity if motion or balance every now and then and the strain on my muscles did not feel balanced like a tread workout.

I recently used the AMT 100i and cannot say enough good things about it.

It is as fluid as runnin

  • It is amazing to me that a company with the resources as big as Precor and the best they can do is have a group of nobody's give halve ass testimonials. What a joke this the best machine I use da. We want to hear about the machine not people who have a vested interest telling us how great they are.

  • @allinrizzo :

Well said sir. I also expected more technical information on the kind of work out etc. It's a pitty because I also love this machine at my gym.

  • I use this at the gym all the time. Gets the heart rate up better than the elliptical and not as awkward of a motion. But at about 8 grand i wont be getting one for my house.

  • when i go to the gym this is my favorite machine. but there so expensive. I would absolutly love to have one of these at home.

  • I did 3 miles on this gizmo this morning (I am a long distance runner/walker who is protecting a lower hamstring injury). I know that my thighs were pumped when I got off.

  • wow..never seen this before..

  • This is my favorite machine. I have problems with shins when running and knees when using the elliptical, and this machine was easy on both during my one hour cardio workout today.

  • This machine is amazing.

  • Wouldn't it be fantastic if you were paid for the energy you use, when you exercise?
