  • what a terrible disaster :*(

  • Wasn't it the arrogance of the KLM capt that caused this disaster? Flight deck communication changed after this. The capt stopped being all knowing after this and now has to take heed of the co-pilot.

  • @castlegate2011

That's harshly put. Regardless of how *arrogant* Van Zanten may have been, he truly believed he had been given clearance by the tower, who incidentally, were listening to a football match on the radio at the time.

  • Only if the KLM didn't refuel --- they would have had time to lift off :(

    RIP :(

  • i think the delay is because of the 2 missing children

  • @abidurr41 They refuel the plane which delay about 35 minutes

  • nice video

  • All because of a stupid bomb 300 miles away

  • this is scary because me and my family go to tenerife every year ..

  • Does anyone know the speed at which these planes were going?

    Thanks!

  • brillent im goin to tenerife tomorro why did i watch this

  • It's ironic that the planes were diverted to avoid a potential disaster with the bomb, and then this happened which probably resulted in a higher death toll than the bomb would have caused.

  • I love Plane Crash Investigations... Have watched it before travelling by plane... Interesting show... Tragic how so many perish due to simple checks at times... Sad for the losses, but we're more likely to die on the road than in a plane...

  • @ZaheedaNaheedya Actually we're most likely to die on a plane if it crashes. Less likely to die on the road but more likely to engage on an accident than on an airplane.

  • stupid pilot

  • This is the reason I will ALWAYS be nervous flying. There is always a chance you will be killed if you fly.

  • @imdyinghelpme There's always a chance you could be killed doing anything.

Death can come for you at any time, in any form. Your brain could suffer an aneurysm right now and you'd be dead before you hit the floor. You can't predict it.

  • @ShadowXII Wow, I can see you live a carefree life

  • Why couldn't they have used Radar!? It has to be older that the 70's surely...

  • @jacksite2007 Didn't operate ground radar. And the planes radar, well dont know.

  • @jacksite2007 they didnt had ground radars! and it was foggy the control tower didnt even saw the runway.

  • The KLM pilot shouldnt have been such a cocky jackass about it, his copilot knew that it was a bad idea, and had the balls to speak up. Such a shame. RIP.

  • It's bad enough that they crashed, but they both just HAD to be 747's...

RIP everyone who's life was lost

  • As a kid i had a pretty disturbing habit of reading disaster books on subjects such as Estonia or Titanic. On reading a airplane book and reading this and seeing the surprisingly detailed picture of one huge jumbo smashing into another and seeing things such as "all people on KLM fight were INCINERATED" and such i was haunted by nightmares for weeks kept picturing it in my mind. Im being deadly serious. I really think this is the Titanic of air disasters. Rip everyone who died...

  • @jman280292 Its not the fucking KLM or Dutch Royal Airlines fault. Its the dumbass pilot. Not the airlines. Get your ''Titanic'' facts straight becaus that whas a ship, remember?

  • @13blacksnake What the fucks you your ass? When have i said ANYTHING about whos fault it was? And i am quite aware of what a plane and boat look like thank you very much -_- I simply stated that it was the Titanic of the sky because the Titanic disaster was the worst maritime sea disaster and this was one of the worst maritime air disasters and because they are both the biggest in their classes. Don't lecture me about bullshit cos at the end of the day i have 9 likes so such my dick bitch...

  • @jman280292 Tititanic was FAR from the worst maritime disaster, Have you ever heard of the MV Wilhelm Gustloff? Of course it is debatable as to if it was a "disaster" as it was deliberate but nonetheless almost 10000 people lost their life on a single ship sinking.

  • @Und3rAchiever i stand corrected. Just looked it up. Now THAT makes this disaster look kinda small.

  • @jman280292 The NTSB (national transportation safety board) called this the "CRASH OF THE CENTURY". There has only been one century of flight. No one could put it any worse.

  • The only KLM ever crashed!

  • @vanhalenmaster1 You mean that it was the last KLM to crash, right. Because they had several crashes.

  • The Dutch KLM didn't have clearance to take off, all his fault.

  • Klm flights fault.. Rip ppl who died

  • My name is too van Zanten and i'm comming too from the netherlands but Jakob was no family from me happily

  • Jakob van Zanten , who are you after all that ???

  • @Travoobladatel

    hes dead

  • Oh my god this is horrible!!!!!! i can't imagine! when im scared on a plane im scared of turbulence, i never think the plane is going to collide with another one on the ground or in the sky! :S

  • good thing i didn't sign up for this.

  • its ok
