  • I am so blessed that my parents included music in our lives. I play Piano, Organ and Vibraphone, but my talent pales compared to Lena. I would have been sitting on the edge of my seat, tapping out the rhythm, but in total awe of Lena. She puts everything into the song, total emotion and voice control. Only a God given talent can do that. Greg

  • @rubbing2001 i love u

  • She really felt inside the songs she sang. Sometimes when singing it can take you to another dimension if you like. Away from the stuff that reality of what brings you down

  • a song for the ..... loves we llooved........soooo much

  • lovely voice

  • Incredible.

  • Such a beautiful version by lovely Lena. So much better than the original. How I miss your Gorgeous voice and sweet face. I wish you could have realised how great you were! You really needed to know this. Miss you always. RIP Lena.

  • Great song by a real dandy. I heard her sing this song at my school. Lena would have done very VERY well on Idol or one of those. She sang in her natural & unspoiled voice. Singing just flowed right out of her as most all others try too hard to sound good. She was relaxed & cool. That is why I think she was so great. A natural talent that hit hard times.

  • @Stugazza What year did she sing at your school? or how old was she?

  • @Musicmania1968 It was 1981 She had just turned 18 & I was a senior. I was trusted by my band director to take her for lunch. We went to Little Italy on the northside, got her cheeks pinched by my great aunties, met my grandparents & parents, had great Italian food for lunch & best of all, our Pastor, Father Giuseppe, & the fathers at church blessed her in Italian!!!! Monsignor Fusco, who lived at church, gave her a crucifix. Nice day to drive top down in my 70 Mustang as well. Best Day Ever!

  • @Stugazza What was she like as a person? I have read she was very withdrawn and quiet?

  • @Musicmania1968 Lena was a wonderful woman. Lena was shy and a little overwhelmed, but she took it all in stride. Lena said I was one of the few people she opened up to. My parents fell in love with her as she was a great girl to bring home to mom & dad. My oldest niece was 3 at the time & would not let go. Lena was treated like family & loosened up a little. Lena enjoyed the day & said she loved my aunties & the cheek pinching & being spoken to in Italian by about everyone.

  • @Stugazza thats so nice to be able to give me feedback on this. I guess she didnt and could not open up to many people, that was the problem really, maybe spending that time with you made her feel she was in a real family again instead of with just managers and minders.

  • @Musicmania1968 I cant edit on here, guess what I mean is, to them, she was just business as usual. Not a lonely child in need of love. The manager said she never had children of her own, so didnt know what their needs were. When she stopped eating I cant understand why they just let it pass for so long. Surely the managers must have known this when Lena stayed with her, You dont need a high IQ to see when someone is not eating and dropping weight quickly really do you

  • They knew she was not well, but pushed her on. My opinio is that Lena should have been left in school & gone out in the summers. That way, she could have been brought in slowly to performing instead of being yanked from her mother. They treated her like meat & did not care about her well being. That dirty old dog manager was GROSSLY negligent in handling Lena and her affairs. Mr Zavaroni certainly has the right to want to be REALLY upset at this moronic manager.

  • I agree on all three posts. She thought my family was great as Lena was treated well, especially by my little great aunties & my niece. Lena put her arms out to my niece & Leah went to her as she ran from strangers. Lena could not believe that a small child would just come to her like that. Children know loving people. Yes, Lena was out to make money, but her handlers were just GREEDY. She was too young to be pulled from her family like that. Was the Angelic personality in her.

  • @Stugazza problem is, managers only care about the money, not the person, business is business as it were and be it a cruel world, to cruel for a youngster like Lena to live in, they took advantage of her shy nature. Her relatives said they looked after Lena's talent but not her.

  • True. A shy little girl that was not worldly. Yes business is business. Real tough manager to take advantage of a 9 year old child that was basically alone. I agree all around

  • @Musicmania1968 I was just thinking about this today. I smile because my family made her feel loved. My aunties fussed over her bigtime. She ate it up.

  • @Stugazza to add, the one thing I believe in this life, that her managers were there just for her work purposes, as like when we work, our managers dont care if we are sick, half time these days they expect you in the office sick, just as Lena was still expected in when she was sick and they just let her continue to perform being sick as she was a money earner and good business for them. children find it hard to speak back to adults they dont know. She was told what to do and she did it.

  • Too much too soon for Lena. She just thought she was doing the right thing by following orders. I am not saying that she should have been rebellious, but had no one to fight for her. Her parents probably did not know what was going on out there as they may have been lied to. Lena was Young, Beautiful, Talented & just an ANGEL. These people ruined this fine girl. No foresight at all & poor management. I agree with you and all others that what happened to this girl was sick & wrong

  • @Stugazza also thing is, the managers that had her, are still alive to, and managing someone else now, she isnt. They got their moneys worth from her at the time, plus her manager said, Lena didnt make a lot of money then, bullshit! all those shows Lena did, theatre appearances etc, what was her managers on then, 50% or something. when you adult you can agree or not to what percentage a manager takes, how can a 9yr old child expect to understand all that.

  • Comment removed

  • @Stugazza agree, the poor management, you hear it all the time even in other businesses about poor managemt, or lazy managers. We have all met them in our times right, I read that when Lena went to South Africa these guys kidnapped her to for her money, and she had no minder with her either, just a lady with her and they gave them £200 I think it was, the men put a bag over Lenas head and took her some where. This is bad even as an adult so god knows how that would affect a young child.

  • Simply bloody amazing.

  • Oh my... it's such a beautiful song. Lena is doing it more than perfect, a lot better than Natalie Cole.

  • how amazing , every time lena covers a song it's like hearing that song for the very first time ! she sings with such emotion that she makes you cry ! she looks so beautiful !! love you lena , vincent USA i am lost without you.

  • @astire007 im ashamed to say i just discovered Lena tonite, i cant stop listening to her...what an amazing and beautiful person....what a tragedy... ihappened to stumble upon her as i was searching for cd's on Amazon.com.....I am dumbfounded, and dont know what to say except, what a sad, sad story....

  • @medicalxxx8 I think unfortunately even though she travelled world wide that she was very underated star really. She should have been rated as an A person but feel she was rated as a B person performer instead. you know when they have A and B actors, and the B actors are not that well known, only small parts etc. She was up there with Frank Sinatra and Shirley Bassey.

  • just perfect ( would have won x-factor) by miles, so very acclompished performer. a very sad loss.

  • uuuhhuu this is my all time fav by the little lady.uuuhhuu

  • I love Lena singing this song, it must have been a special moment to watch her sing this 'live' in the studio. - Debs.

  • @LenaZavaroniClips how i would have loved to see her live...

  • @lostlittlegurlygurl She was amazing 'live' I saw her live 5 times, and she was so full of energy!

  • @Musicmania1968 as stated on other page, pub did not have no karaoke that night, this was another song I wanted to sing if they had it. we left early new years eve, all they had was crappy house and garage music most of night. typical.
