@ferat1982 Good. Thats how I like it not another video with mindless idiots destroying these cars. Well Done you! I totally agree with the smell and noise and RWD too. :D
always use 1% two stroke oil in your fuel to prevent engine and fuel system wear and corrosion caused by modern E10 Eco Fuel! Its just too dry and aggressive to your engine and pump and tank materials. 2 Stroke oil neutralizes the acid in the modern eco-fuel.
I've grown up with these cars. And I miss them on the road. About 20 years ago seen the last of them in traffic. :-( A classic car is what I wanted, so my choice got to these cars, that I know for a long time. I love the RWD, the noise of the engine, the decent smell of fuel and oil... what do you drive?
Thanks for your interest, the car was worked over a little bit and is back on the road since July 2009. There is also a little video, so if you want to watch, just click to my uploads.
Yes,definitely u need to have a look at the engine, that doesnt sound good to me.But otherwise good looking,i would change the head lights and grill...
Strange engine sound. Should be a clutch bearing, or duplex timing chain. Or some of crankshaft bearings should be bad. Anyway theres still enough parts available here in CzechRep, and you can get them for really low prices. Good luck with restoration.
Schönes Exemplar hast Du da erwischt. Ist ja richtig gut erhalten. Ich Blick bei der 105er Reihe nicht ganz durch. Manche mit runden Lichtern, manche mit eckigen. Liegt bestimmt am Baujahr.
Was macht die Restaurierung?
Im Video klingt der Motor irgendwie bissl blechern - nicht gut.
Pass mit den Plastikteilen auf (brüchig), speziell Motorklappen-Öffner, hintere Scheinwerfer und Seitenverkleidung. Hab da so Erinnerungen. ;-)
Danke!
I thing, that Trabant and Wartburg was better than CSSR Skoda.Trabant - cheap, easy to use Wartburg - luxury sedan and one of the biggest combi cars behind the Iron curtain.Comunnist party stopped importing Wartburg 1.3 because it could beat very "expensive" Skoda Favorit (italian engineering, they spent a lot of money)
Maybe... I think the same about nearly any road car which was built after 1995... The most of them looks same to others, sound is a anknown word now and they just have lots of not always working electronic trash built in, but no more character.
The front panel should be original. For sure there was a version with single round headlights, but this one also as far as I know. The rear panel isn't original, that's right. I was trying to get an original, with small rear lights, but this one is no more in production...
Thanks for your interest. The car is built in 1978 absolutely sure. The big rearlights from the later version were installed by the previous owner in the 1980's just to refresh the look. For the bumpers I have no information, if they were regular or were installed later (because???).
Hi! I believe you. I just meant that it was modernized (rebuilt) because of the rearlights and stuff. I know that in the eighties lots of people also fitted plastic bumpers (or painted the metal bumpers black) on these cars to make it look more modern. The 105 was standardly fitted with plastic ones in about 1981/82. In 1978 the 105 also had 14 inch wheels, so I guess these were replaced too on your car. On my Skoda 120 (1978!) the previous owner painted all the chrome in black in the eighties.
Uuuuuh, that's sad. Were you able to save them and got the black paint off? I'm not sure what I will do at restauration, maybe original (the harder way getting chrome parts) or a classic motorsport look (always loved Skoda Rallye cars)... You've spotted right, the wheels are 13" from the later version.
The paint wouldn't come off without damaging the chrome, so I replaced everyting in 1999 (when I bought the car), some parts were lying around new with Dutch dealers (still wrapped in plastic!) so I was lucky with that. Other parts I got on the German E-bay and from donor cars. Chrome parts are indeed hard to find now. I hope you are going to restore the car to original! Is there much work on it?
I don't really know. The body looks fair for the first look. The wings on front, especially the right side looks like to have be replaced. Engine runs, gearshift works. electrics have to be checked. Brakes and shock absorbers have to be replaced. Paintjob has to be done for sure. We will see.
I'm really thinking what should I do - original is fine, but Rallye look impresses me more.
Rallye looks are cool too, Skoda was famous for it's performance and durability in Rally's in the seventies and eigties. Whatever you do, good luck with it!
I got the most parts from donor cars, from the Czech Republic, Ebay, and other Skoda Club Netherlands-members. But parts are difficult to find nowadays. The Czech Republic is certainly worth a visit!
I think it's cool that people start to restore these cars. In the Czech Republic they are beginning to dissapear too! Is it been rebuilt earlyer? In 1978 the didn't have the plastic bumpers and big rear lights yet. Hope to see more of this car!
wow RWD, awesome, the color is just wonderful!
