actually it was not the college towns that turned VA blue. Blacksburg and harrisonburg both went overwelmingly red. It was the richmond metro area, and northern VA that really turned the state blue. and not, the voter turn out was not 1%. It was about 68%. The highest ever since 1908. Don't be sour because the old man and Alaskan hilbilee lost.

Everyone went out in the street because they were happy and wanted to share in the exitement. Much of the VCU community experianced the crushing disapointment of voting for kerry and feeling like their vote was for not. Obama's victory renewed our trust in our voting system and government. This wasnt a "mob" or a "riot" it was simply people coming together to share in their exitement. The police helped block off streets so the march could pass without anyone harmed.
