Tanks for quick reply. Yes I've got the full HP software install. I'll go and try the Solution Center Toolbox alternative. Thanks for pointing me in this direction, as HPs own documentation also has the Scan button as only option for alignment.

However, I've got the simpler F4210 model, lacking the top three menu buttons, including the scan button. Any idea on how to progress through the alignment process without this scan button???

I don't have an F4210 to test here so my guess is that you would have to initiate a cartridge alignment form the Toolbox in the Solution Center software. Do you have the full feature software installed on your computer?
