ya shouldda seen my piece of crap dell it was dustier then shit!!! i turned it on one day it blew up i had to call nine one one omg it was terrible it
@Zaharkl lol i am on one right now its brand new i got it from wallmart :DDD its the same one wow my computers on you tube i was about to list it for nothing??????? yay
@Zaharkl for $200 it *IS* good. Dropping a 4450B dual core CPU in mine this coming week. Waiting on some better PCI video card choices but will probably go with a 9500GT when I find one cheap.
Great box. I got one used for $215 back in June and had it for 6 months. Gave it to my kids last week. It's no speed demon but my son plays GTA Vice City and San Andreas on it just fine. I do intend to install a dual core processor, though. 3250e-4050e-4450e-4850e-5050e will all fit and use less power than a regular AM2 socket chip. I do expect to have to add a fan if I go any faster than that. I heartily recommend EL1200-EL1300 machines to anyone needing a cheap basic computer!
You CAN upgrade to 4GB, not 2GB, it WILL work. Some of the 4GB will go to video so you only get 3.3GB. So I put 3GB in mine. One new 2GB chip cost me $25 SHIPPED! The DVD drive is easy to remove. It is NOT complicated. Remove one or two screws and it slides up out of the way to access the memory and hard disk. Go watch jmurrayil's video entitled "Add RAM to Emachine 1200-06w PC". If you remove the modem you can fit in a low power, low profile, PCIe x1 video card. Try the nVidia 8400GS.
i just bougth one emachine el 1200-qm7z (AMD athlon XP 64 X2, 3gb of ram, 320gb hard drive) today, i tried it on the pre-installed system (Vista), it's very quiet and fast, i want to create a small nas/web server at my home, i'm very affraid to see all that people say "eMachines sucks", i pray to don't have a failure... (sorry for my bad english)
Not all of them are bad I actually have a customer that bought 4 of them and they are working fine. They use them all they long and have not failed yet after 8 months.
To upgrade the RAM on this is a BITCH!!!! I accadentally bumped the power conection to the SATA2 hard drive and i almost didnt reconnect it but after i did it wouldn't load so i had to get annother one so DON'T BUMP THE CORD.. This can be avoided by PUTTING THE DVD ROM THINGY IN THE CORRECT!!!!!! PLACE!.
Thanks for the tip. I would like to add that 4GB is great if you have a 64bit operating system if you have 32bit operating system then about 3GB is the only amount windows will see. Thanks again for your tip.
i have this computer also,it has 1 available pci express slot,so i'm able to add another graphics card but i will probably have to get a low profile one.i haven't looked inside yet to see.
The video is not a high end card. You can play for example call of duty 4 by turning off high settings but don't expect this card to run everything. I mentioned before in this page what this machine is really good for. Gaming not really but you can get alot done with the graphic card on this machine. Hope this helped.
I don't belive you can, everything is very tight in there. The thing about this computer is that is good for overall daily work, e-mail, watching videos, spreadsheets, surfing the web, etc..
What I really like to use this computer for is for a home theatre maybe to stream movies from netflix. You can change the DVD drive and put a blueray to complete it.
Yes I agree you could do that but since there are so many programs out there written for windows, you actually end up missing out because while I like Linux, most of the software I need for example is for windows. Maybe that will change one day. UBUNTU is a great choice for a free linux choice.
Listen you dumbass, the computer you are recommending to build here does not have windows included since it looks like you put 0 cost because you probably pirated the damm thing.
For anyone building this computer and paying for the operating system, it makes no sense to go through all that trouble when you can pick one of the shelf for the complete $200 and start using it. Saving you time to buy all the parts, building it and programing it. The only sad little man around here is you dumbfuck
You should first try this machine before putting down that much. I used it and it runs great. If you build a computer yourself the saving will not be that great since you also have to buy the operating system. This is really more for someone that wants a simple nice computer for running Office, using the internet, email and everyday use.
pay 200 more and get an hp slimline.
