Me old Dad once hit a Pheasant in the car...tucked it away in the boot...Once hit a Deer...tucked it away in the boot...hit a Wild Boar...tucked it away in the boot....ran over Ronald Macdonald....left the f*cker to die at the side of the road.
YT is definatley up to silly tricks again I'm not getting notified of half my subscriptions new uploads Argh so frustraiting. No I have never eaten road kill Dibber but I guess the guy does have a point.
if you are smart about of road kill it is no harm. depends on how long its been dead. 5 months dead road kill yeah i would stay away. but same day road kill no problem.
I've had road kill deer many times.I used to work with a guy that would pick up almost anything he saw on the road I still don't know how it didn't kill him because some of it was out for a few days.
After working on a beef farm, I know exactly what is injected into the animal, right from birth. I, like yourself Dibbers are vegetarian...and I have to say, I am a whole lot healthier since I stopped eating "store bought meat" The only road kill I would consider & I 'd have to be starving is maybe moose or deer. (wild game)
Nah,mate. I've never had the privilege of tucking into road kill.
I have been to a farm and eaten a lamb that was alive earlier that day.
Also,I worked at a butcher for nearly 10 years and some of the practices are interesting & I'm sure if people saw how sausages are manufactured, they wouldn't touch them.
Oh, I have eaten horse. One of the butcher suppliers delivered to a knackery and brought in horse meat which I tried.
I don't eat much meat,I'd say I'm not far off being borderline vegetarian.
@miles2057 Horse is still served up in places in Europe, armies have marched on horse meat, ive seen how sausages are made and have to agree ahahha H&R
I don't eat Chicken much, although I will eat it so as not to offend anyone who has served it up to me. I have worked for a Chicken grower and know what sort of a life these birds have, but it is not just the Chicken growers, beef producers also use 'feed lots' where the animal is confined while being fattened up. I am finding that grain food gives me a lot of energy but I don't want to become a full vegetarian.
I think he's a good guy, it makes perfect sense to eat the stuff that has sadly been killed. Not surprised that he's not had food poisoning either - the meat is going to be pretty fresh, and if it's cooked properly... well. Supermarkets are generally very good with food hygiene, but you are forever seeing meat and fish products picked up and then put back because the customer has changed their mind, this I should imagine has caused some incidents.
@gardenspoon I would think that happens with many products in the supermarket bro, if people havent washed their hands then its gonna be on the packaging H&R Bro
most farms dont give a dam about animals that's why i like to get organic when i can , never had road kill before , except the day i ran over my mother in law . Any way good show today bro , Have a nice weekend mate : )
@DibbersPage MMMM nothin like fried Gator tail, it has the consitancy (i would say) like firm tofu but taste of the juciest chicken add a squeeze of lemon for a tangy finnish....damn now I wanna go to Florida....
I have never personaly eaten RK but I do know with the proper prep of just about any meat you wont get ill there are even proper pre-cooking methods to kill bactirea such as lemon juice or beer, wine or liqour and so on.
You know veg may be safer than meats but here where I live we had a small cholera and salmonilla outbreak because of lettus lol. the people they had working in the fields were shitting in it(no lie) and like 500 ppl got ill and 20 some died.... :0\
The thought of chewing and tearing at the flesh of a dead animal makes me kind of sick. But, if I had to choose a roadkill meal it would have to be "Toad al la mode"!
I've eaten roadkill once, unless the guy was just messing with me. He said he hit a squirrel with his car and made a stew out of it. It tasted pretty good, but he ground the bones into it, so I didn't actually swallow it. After seeing the movie Food, Inc., the only meat I'll eat now is Amish-raised chicken. I mostly eat organic vegetables, but that's hard to find in my area, and it's ungodly expensive!
No, cos like you Dibs I've been veggie since the age of 20, but I agree with you about the way animals are factory farmed....it's cruel and exploitative!! I would rather people ate roadkill as it would go to waste anyway!!
@kegs666 Never seen that but did once see a video here on the tubes called Bubbas Road Kill Cafe, you kill em we grill em hahahaha, it did give me a chuckle H&R
I eat road kill. Not exclusively but there's nothing different other than there's more waste on the hit side. I'm on a list where the cops call me to come pick it up. Most of the time the cops wait until I show up to shoot the deer so it's a fresh kill. I only eat road kill deer. I've almost stopped for pheasant but I was heading out hunting and it would've went against my limit. I almost lived off squirrel (not road kill) when I lost my job so don't have much of a taste for that any more.
@Myk63 You can pick it up here in the UK if it wasnt you that hit it, or at least thats what ive been told, good for you not letting this type of food go to waste H&R
