We bear many titles in the U.S, however outside of America, people will presume you are African (knowing you are a descendant) then assess your nationality. They simply don't understand the concept. When I travel, I state I'm an American. You don't really realize who you are until you are separated from your native environment and analyze you're mentality, actions, customs, etc.
