  • Clearly a test promoted by Audi. This test uphill is all about power and momentum. And how is it possible that the Audi almost stands stil at 2:52 and for a moment later he has a signifiant higher speed?

  • @LuapIbiza Cars look like they're moving a lot slower when they're coming head-on than when they're driving right past.

  • ...and optimal power distribution front to rear are I think the key points to any successful car to perform in harsh conditions. And it does not mean that it has to be Subaru, Audi, Hummer,Landrover etc. In my opinion if any one posting here knows anything about the old Lada Niva 4x4, it was a car that was light (less than 1ton) and was able to go through almost any kind of terrain and if not,2-3 people were able to pick one side up and move it over...so remember, bigger isn´t alwas better!

  • ...as well as very well made ratios of power distribution between front and rear and not to mention weight of the vehicles and tire width/size also make difference. Of all the above cars the Patrol is the worst 4x4. Very unstable in mud/snow with its huge mucky large tire size it is very unstable in such conditions. I have seen it and heard it from SAR teams that used them for several years. Xdrive nice inovation, very nice system, however full time AWD, good power/weight ratio of car...

  • OK, many people here are arguing what is better. Having seen all cars in action a having talked to many people owning the above vehicles including the newer Xdrive BMWs I can make a conclusion of my own that I do not force to anyone only as experience. I have driven and owned for several years SUBARU Forester and Subaru Legacy. The Subaru of all cars above mentioned goes beyond any other simalarly but not as good as Subary is the quattro, Why? Simply because these cars have FULL TIME 4x4....

Хотя бы симулирование тест красиво чтоли, а то ниссан патрол так резко тормознул, что не вооруженным взглядом видно торможение искусственное (то есть запланированное), да и лексус с БМВ 5 по-моему вначали остановились явно по причине нажатия на тормоз, либо просто нежеланием газовать. Короче за ролик КОЛ - лажа полная!!!

  • They not even locked the Patrols diff. And why are they braking when the Patrol's not even stuck? And why do they test it (as they mention) without snowtires?

    And they are testing old vehicles - X5 without xDrive etc.

    VERY biased show. I would like to know, how much they get from Audi for that crap.

  • I don't understand a single thing this guy is saying in the video but when, I mean what year, was this filmed? Why are they using very old Lexus and Nissan? I believe Audi quattro does very well in snow but I know BMW's xDrive system, Lexus & Nissan can do much better than that in snow. This looks like a very biased comparison.

  • Stupid test, promoted by Audi. This test is all about power. Building up speed in the flat part and using this speed to climb. I bet the Nissan Patrol can also reach the top in low gear, this has nothing to do with horsepower (but torque).

  • we recently performed a multi AWD / 4WD testing @ Lancelin West Australia. Petrol (p) & Diesel (d) vehicals. Toyota Landcruiser 09, (p & d) Toyota Prado 09 (p) Nissan Patrol 09 (p), Mitsubishi Outlander 09 (p), Honda CRV 09 (p), Jeep Cher 09 (p) Subaru Forester 09 (p). Of all the tests performed, the Subaru Forester travelled further in sand, higher up sand incline tests without tyre deflation. Every single other vehicle mentioned could not match the Subaru even with deflated tires at 15 psi.

  • Why did they even bother with an RX, and RX was designed really with pretty much NO off roading in mind at all. Its a great city crossover but really its much too light, the tires are much to narrow and the car is much to soft to perform well on snow or mud and dirt.

  • The other drivers hit the brakes when the car began to spin and couldn't go further. The issue is not which car the allroad could not beat, but which ones it did beat!

  • The patrol is brought to a halt by the driver applying the brakes. The wheels never start to spin. Put the Patrol in low gear and turn on the diff. lock in the rear and it will climb right up to the top. This test is a fraud.

  • dude, Patrol is two ton vehicle. It;s may be a good horse to pull, but bad offroader. Got bunch videos (from my offroad trips) where Patrols were continuously pulled out from mad pits.

  • For sure!! You can clearly see that the when the non<german vehicles are getting a bit to close to the german vehicles, the driver releases the accelerator. The wheels would spin before the car stops, and furthermore the Patrol is stopped by the driver before it stops it self. This, too, is the only test i've seen where an all road and a x5 overtakes a Nissan on snow.. All fake...

  • komischer test, der erste wagen könnte noch weiter kommen, er bleibt aber auf der einen kuppe einfach so stehen (komisch). die anderen autos könnten auch weiterkommen, immer kurz bevor sie nicht mehr weiterkommen zu scheinen müssten sich die räder durchdrehen, wenn man noch etwas rausholen will.

    naja, wie auch immer ich sag nur eins: ein subaru war noch nicht dabei

    and audi is in VAG concern. that means they have same parts, and are made in defferent factories.

  • Patrol is the biggest disappointment, X5 and Lexus are SUVs and not meant for that. Volvo and Audi are lighter and therefore have an advantage on snow. Nice job though with the Quattro.
