Thanks for posting. I listen to the original song as sung by Kyu Sakamoto and the lyrics in this karaoke seem pretty accurate to me. They make it easy for an english speaker to sing right along.
Hi Ziguena. Sadly I have not been receiving any info. Tried to call their head office for any info on the models but sigh. But you know my dad went to Switzerland in 1992 and he did meet one of these models. Uh go to Walk Away Karaoke. That's the girl he met. He had a photo with her but ugh. Got lost
One of the favorite songs of my childhood and the only Japanese song ever to chart #1 in the US, although I am sure Utada and BoA might match that someday. Tragically, Sakamoto-san was one of 520 people who died in the horrible crash of Japan Airlines Flight 123 in 1985; only 4 people survived the crash. BTW, Yggdrasil is from Vermillion, South Dakota and an avid J-Pop and Enka fan. RIP, Sakamoto-san.
When I was a little boy living in Japan in the late 50s, this song was sung by both Kyu and also a Japonese girl sang it too . . . both beautifully sung.
Even though nothing can beat the original . . . from Kyu . . . Ningyoko . . . and American girl living in Japan . . . back in the states now . . . has come up with a very simple guitar/acoustic version of thesong . . . which seem to me to be a classic rendition of the original classic . . . very beautiful . . . to me and my memories.
Hi, I understand that sometimes the sounding of the words/lyrics when transcribed using phonetic sounds can be off. That also depends on the native accents of the people doing the transcribing.
Regardless, I still like the song. Thanks for pointing it out.
Sukiyaki versions in Japanese, English (Of course, there will never be any version to top the Original Japanese Classic by Kyu Sakamoto. No one ever got that trade mark "whistle solo" down as perfectly, either!), Karaoke version and Spanish (Koko Montana, peruvian singer, you can watch the video here in youtube). Bingo. Thanks God for the music.
Hi Shawnal, thanks for the comments. I too wonder why they would pick that lady for the video. Her broad shoulders kind of make her look "un-feminine". But then again it could be the "broad shoulders" type outfit which was popular at one time.
This is the original style of the 60's version. The 80's version by 4pm has a slightly different style to it, kind of like a slow ballad. This sounds like a faster ballad.
the model in this vid srsly looks like my mom in here younger years xD

@usagikyun - the model looks great and I am sure your mum looked great too. Thanks.

@071349905228 - this is the same identical version.
The company "Glory Star" re-released that same video with newer logo.
Everything thing else is the same.
As for the vocals, on both VCD, if you turn on the "multiplex" on the karaoke player, the vocals
go away.
Erinpilla's version has the vocals turned on and mine has the vocals turned off.

@071349905228 - I don't know what changes you are referring to. This came from the VCD and I converted
it as it is from VCD to WMV format with no modification.

it less sad.
