What too many... FPS games have come to rely on is the RPG levelling system, which is great for a little while, but once you reach the top, you realise what a shallow game it is. I am of course talking about CoD specifically here, but where CoD's multiplayer is just an arena, every fucking single fucking map in the entire fucking Battlefield series (excluding Heroes, of course. Fucking Heroes.)

@rpglover101 Oh no, I agree completely, it definitely is exciting to unlock a new gun, but what i'm saying is that once you hit the level cap in game that uses that system, you're no longer playing for experience points and unlocking new guns, but for the game itself. This is why IW implemented the prestige system - so you could repeatedly go through the process of gaining XP and unlocking new guns, while ignoring the fact that you're not actually playing for the gameplay.

What I found with pretty much all CoDs except CoD4 was that the gameplay seemed to degrade as soon as hit the level cap (which is why I kept prestiging).

My friends wonder why i will pirate Crysis 2, Duke Nukem, and Deus Ex 3, but not Battlefield 3. Simple, BF3 is made and marketed towards PC. The other games were heavily marketed towards consoles.
