My dad retired from the lead mechanic at a school bus garage about 3 years ago. he is now 60 years old. He always woke up at around 4:00 to make sure that i got to school ok. He worked for 29 straight years in the same garage. He suffered from nerve damage in his back and his toes. He is the strongest man I know. Even though he's retired he still wakes up at around 5:00 to make sure I get to school ok. He still works hard to keep the vehicles runnin with no charge. God Bless you dad. i love you.
This song is a prefect summary of the american dream we hard working americans live every day. Bust your ass, be the best man you can and most importantly provide for your family.
this is a really good song, i quit school and went to work and now me and my fiance have been goin through some hard times, we just had a son that was born when he was only 28 weeks, between workin and drivin to the hospital everyday for 2 months, its hard but the more i think bout that little man the harder i work, i live in wv and i work buildin shuttle cars, feeders, and all machanic work on them, for the coal mines, i like to come home and listen to this and set with my lil man
This song reminds me of my husband. My babe works in the oilfields for weeks at a time. He works so hard to make sure we have everything we need. His hard work allows me to stay home and focus on finishing my education without having to work. I will never be able to express how much I appreciate how hard he works to keep us a float. We don't have any kids yet, but I know he will be a great father when the time comes.
let me tell you something buddy, if you walked in my muddy, worn out boots and my greasy torn jeans and shirt, you'd appreciate that statement. not laugh at it. people like me are the people that build the buildings that you sit in everyday and sit in your climate controlled offices and try to find humor in something that was not meant to be dirty. if you cant see this, reread it a few times. maybe you'll understand it.
this song really means alot to me know cause im going to be a daddy to my first child and i work as a temo at the local factor as a welder building trailors for the oilfield and my wife said it describes me i love this song
he lost his job and now he works for SHIT pay but he does it for us if i worked for the pay he get id quit he is the perfect role model for any one i hope i become half the man he is
This describes my father. He lost his job when the recession hit. Now he works part times on Weekend nights. It is tough, but he does his best for us all. I could not have asked for a better role model in my life.
I just want to say that my husband is a great family man and will do whatever he has to for his family.....and that's one of the MANY REASONS WE LOVE HIM!!!!!!!!!!! Edgar Gomez we love you dearly!!!! Love always your wife Angela and Kids!!!!

Sacrifice... Im 20 years old going into the marines, Ive never had a dad in my life but my moms Ex boyfriend is the man i call dad. hes always taught that sacrifice is what makes a man. and i promise one day when i have a son of my own and a family Ill sacrifice whatever i have to to be the man that my father wasnt.
I am forever indebted to my mother. She raised me and my brother all by herself, and we turned out decent, I think. My father did teach me my southern courtesy and manners with a belt (which I do not blame him at all for using, and I was not beaten, I was spanked when I deserved it [and we were often wild as hell]). But he and mom divorced when we were two years old, and he moved out of the country when we were 12. Momma did the rest for us. =-) I still respect and love dad. -Momma's boy
My dad for the past 6 years has got up at 430 in the morning to be at work by 5 and doesnt get home till 5 or later and doesnt complain once, my sister is on a very good softball team and we are by no means rich, my dad simply took a few more hours my mom wanted to go to college, my dad made it happen by saying when you go full time ill get a seocnd job, and for me well lets just say i try to do my best to help with mymoms choice, MY DAD is the reason i can listen to this song and be happy
when i first heard this song I was with my grandfather. once I listened to this more my dad heard it and at my grandfathers funeral we played this song. My dad loves this song and it reminds him of my grandfather. I played this on fathers day for my dad and told him just being a father is enough for me. I love you dad and grandfather. <3

30 people don't like their families. I just want them to know that things will get better. The worse your life is the more likely it is that your life will bounce back. I don't care if you don't believe this next statement or not but I believe and live by the fact that God loves you and he has huge plans for your life. Even if your life just flat out sucks right now, it can and almost always will get better.
I work 7 days a week 4pm to 12am in a heat treating shop so my family can live decent and my wife is leaving me because we hardly ever get to spend time to together thanks alot wife.
When I heard this song last week while I was working, (I'm a truck driver) I had to pull the truck over because I was crying. This song talks so much about my dad and I. My dad while I was growing up worked on a farm putting in long hours all the time, and dad went without a lot of things for himself for my mom, my brothers and I. It also makes me think of myself, I've been working some very LONG hours at work myself for my family and I've done without so they could have food and a home.
sometimes a man makes mistakes in life. A talented singer comes along and writes a song that touches your soul. Dont let your wife and kids out of your sight. They are what make you a man, not your goals or achievements. Nothing is more important then your family when you have done everything wrong.
30 people know they wont be a family man wen they grow or they aint. going arnd chasing everyfin in skirt and making babies everywhere stupid. Like it and be a family man. #word
This song is like my theme song. I work in a factory for shit pay and its hard knowing that I cant afford to buy my lil boys everythiing they want and need but they still love me all the same and thats the reason I get up everyday and work for that shit pay because at least they have a roof over their heads and food in their belly. they are my whole world and ill never stop workin to keep them safe.
@SpringsPimpin Fortunately, lasting happiness isn't in material possessions and your boys will respect you for working hard to take care of them. You are teaching them what it means to be a great father. God bless you.
@SpringsPimpin I know what you're going through. I worked at a tire factory for $10/hr with no benefits, 1 month after my wife and I got married. Back breaking work, little pay, no benefits, but it put food on our table. God bless you. There needs to be more parents like you!
This song reminds me of my dad. My dad has always worked hard to support me my mom and my sister. He's been a welder all his life but he has always made sure we had everything we needed. My dad is a great man. He's always done the best he could for us.
This song is sweet but there is still a sadness to it. I like to think of it as a part one to "I hope they get to me in time" It is also a very touching song.

This man is a rising star, he'll be one to set some records! He's got an amazing voice and shows he loves what he does. I went and seen him in Louisa, I was so excited. I've watched him on GAC & CMT and always hoped I'd get to meet him and I did! Best thing about it is, I got a picture, I know he ook several so he'll never remember but that's a memory to be forever lasting in my world! :) I love you Craig Campbell!!!! <3
Im 17 Years old and have lived on my own since i was 12. My Grandparents raised Me.My Grandma had breast cancer and being the oldest grandson i took care o her and She taught me how to Fish,Hunt and Even shot a gun.
Her and i were in a car accident in 2005.At 10 years old i lost the most inportant person in my life. She Raised me to be ah Family Man and Im proud of Everything she taught me. Everything Happens In Life for A Reason Even When it hurts The Most in your life. It makes you a man
@gabbsvw You are so right i never had my father growing up and this song describes what i try to do everyday for my daughter because of that. I am a soldier in the united states army. I have to leave her for tours sometimes but i always let her know daddy loves her and misses her when he is gone. I am not with her mother now and she keeps her when i am over sees. But i still make sure my world revolves around her. And this is by far the most important song to me.
@justindean229 This brought tears to my eyes. Thank you sir, very much for what you do for our beautiful country. May God bless you and your daughter.
This song never fails to bring me to tears. My significant other is in Afghanistan right now as a contractor helping the military maintain their computers. This song I can say from my heart is dedicated to him. He has made sacrifices above and beyond as a man to provide for his family and I love him with all my heart for that. He is and will always be me and our children's "Family Man"
this makes me think of my dad, he busts his ass not just for me and my family but for my grandparents and his sister. he always says your gunna miss me when im gone, and i always say with a tear in my eye and a smile and say without a doubt. love you dude,
One day the LORD wil bless me with a cowboy who loves and fears GOD like I do I will be praying 2 meet him soon very very soon my faith is in the LORD!

I just saw him play at the Union Fair last night and this was one oof the last two songs he played. This song brought me to tears and I just hope I can find a man like this some day.
i feel the same way chris. my husband is one of the greatest men ive ever the pleasure of being with . hes my rock my everything . and one hell of a daddy ! love him with everything in my being
I never comment on videos but my brother had me listen to this. While I'm only 20 and don't have a family I've helped my father every single summer working construction and doing side jobs while all my other friends go to the beach, I drive a 175k mile car, and work every day I don't have college classes while paying for my own schooling. A lot of my friends don't understand because I'm from Long Island not too many country folk round here and basically they get everything given to them.
this song is the story of my life i just had a new baby girl born and a 2 year old and yhey are the only reason why i bust my butt at the town factory for 8 $ an hour there mother is the best women you could ever dream of and get this im only 18 and just graduated ad am putting off collage to make a living i was never given anything in my life and it pisses me off to see young kids who pawn there children off on there mothers so they can do as they plez
This song makes me wanna do wht i can for my family and my kids im 21 years old and always wanted to do wht is right for my family i work hard to do my best and support my wife and my 2 girls i try everyday and they love me for wht i do for them.
@pinkhotchoco I totally agree, and I think father's like what he describes in this song need to be lifted up and honored! Instead of vilified like so many people do with dad's today. I believe a GOOD DAD is VERY important in a childs life. And in many homes, those good DAD's are missing.
My biological dad isn't around and when I was 6 my mom fell in love with a man that was very abusive and we put up with that for 10 years. At 16 now I try not to let my dad's choices affect me...but one thing I've learned it that when I have kids ( a long time from now once I'm through with my masters degree) is that I want them to have a dad, the dad I never had, or got to know. One that will work hard and love me and his children. I want a family man.
This song reminds me of my husband. He doesn't work in a factory, but he works very hard everyday for the kids and I. He has been working over in Afghanistan and never complains about his job, the heat or anything. He works his butt off and provides extremely well for us. We miss him and love him more everyday for the man he is and the man he is becoming. A real family man!! God has blessed the kids and I with a wonderful man. We pray everyday that he comes home soon for good! We love you David!
this song reminds me of my dad everytime i listen to it he works so hard to provide for the family and even when my mom left us he work so hard to provide for the three kids she left with him and i havent ever thanked him for bein there when my mom wasnt...I LOVE YOU DADDY!!!
I really love this song. It has a story to it. It makes me wonder when ever i get married is if that my husband knows what exactly to do. This song makes me cry.
29 Monkeys thought they could dislike this song because they don't know shit about supporting a family only how to work the government for free housing free food. I guess they give them money for rims and stereos too. Good ass song though
I love this song. The first time I heard it I fell in love with it. This a song that men should paid close attention to. It tell very heart-warming story.
He is probably one of the few country artists I can respect these days. Dont flame me but I remember hearing somewhere that this wasnt his song(not saying it isnt) but even if it isnt it takes alot of guts to play songs like this nowadays. It makes me think of Murder on Music Row but its one of those few exceptions about new country. I dont have a family yet but I know when I do I will be doing everything In my power even if it means working 3 jobs to support it and make my kids lives better.
If you disliked this song its like Draco1413 said because we're from the country and i know some people who live in the city who work their ass off and they dont make what they deserve. The little dime they make doesnt mean anything compared to their family and thats what we live for, is our FAMILY! And another thing letters are cheaper than phone FiLninja!
@FiLninja Letters are more meaningful than a phone call, I highly doubt you have a girlfriend but if you do try suprising her with a note when she wakes up in the morning. Her reaction is why you still write letters/notes.
I hadn't heard this until I just read the story in the Fargo Forum about how Craig Campbell gave away a year's rent to a family man in ND. I'm a fan now!
this song makes me cry now every time i hear it...this song discribed me in everyway...but my son passed away of sids a month ago he was only 3 months old and he was the reason why i went to work and got up every mourning....i love you little boogie butt....):
Boogie butt was my daughter's nickname when she was a baby. When she was learning to stand on her own, she'd pull herself up, and hold on to the coffee table while shaking her butt, lol.
This song will speak true to the real fathers out there. There are a lot of people that like to call themselves fathers who never had the right to have kids in the first place. This song speaks true to me, I work in the oil field and don't get home a lot to see my family. What i do is for them. Even though I had a good life, I want my kids to have a better one. Great song!
My uncle is a family man since he was 12 taking care of his mom his dad his 2 brothers. He's taught me alot and I didn't have him I wouldn't be living the life I live....
My dad retired from the lead mechanic at a school bus garage about 3 years ago. he is now 60 years old. He always woke up at around 4:00 to make sure that i got to school ok.

SpringsPimpin 5 months ago 57
@SpringsPimpin Fortunately, lasting happiness isn't in material possessions and your boys will respect you for working hard to take care of them. You are teaching them what it means to be a great father. God bless you.
GodsServant05 5 months ago
@SpringsPimpin I know what you're going through. I worked at a tire factory for $10/hr with no benefits, 1 month after my wife and I got married. Back breaking work, little pay, no benefits, but it put food on our table. God bless you. There needs to be more parents like you!

He has been working over in Afghanistan and never complains about his job, the heat or anything. He works his butt off and provides extremely well for us. We pray everyday that he comes home soon for good! We love you David!

43Copenhagen 7 months ago
Who writes letters nowdays anyway? This isn't 1889.
FiLninja 7 months ago
@FiLninja Letters are more meaningful than a phone call, I highly doubt you have a girlfriend but if you do try suprising her with a note when she wakes up in the morning. Her reaction is why you still write letters/notes.
