  • Remember it as yesterday In was only ten at the time ....son horrible

  • Why did they even place a net.

  • Thats why Black people don't do this type of shit. Only white people beielve that they are Spider Man and Batman. Which other race glues a giant Dorito to their back and jump off mountain cliffs? White Folks!

  • darkie is so stupid at :10

  • omg i was there honest to god, it was a scary eerie sight

  • What is this ignorant woman talking about? If you cant look at the factors involved and figure out that death is a possible outcome you are in no way capable of raising a child into a functioning adult.

  • @blueduece64 She's a moron, a man fell to his demise and all she cares about is viewer discretion??? However she does have a point about that safety inflatable mattress. why wasn't there one.

  • Giant Velcro might have worked ? I personally would rather have jumped with a blow- up doll strapped to my back for a little bit of cushion, lol !

  • @Chera69Kimiko300 It might have but he had done this stunt before this. It was just an accident.

  • When people die doing something stupid it isn't a tragedy...it's a candidate for the Darwin Awards.

  • Sounds like she is looking for a free handout.....people can die anywhere.....esp at a motorsport event......get a life ...... don't get me wrong I ride KDX220R and understand his passion......it is a shame but people need to grow up....the harder you play the more you pay when things go bad. RIP Corey you are still a credit to your profession 0<--0

  • no i lied.. 28

  • I saw this happen live - I was 9 years old at the time and I remember watching the paramedics stop working on him and just load him up.......there was nothing left to work on. What a shame.

  • I was there! I was drunk as hell and sobered up immediately when this happened. R.I.P. Corey.

  • I lived down there when this happened. On the news, they said that a big part of the problem was the fact that the net was at the wrong angle. It was vertical (I) but it should have been tilted ( \) so that he could have had a better chance to grab the net on the first try or on the way down.

  • @StuckInTheEighties1 well yeah cuz im not a pro stuntman but god look at the angle its like compleatly verticle! its at a 110 degree angle! every 1 knows its suposed to be atleast around 80 degree angle

  • I'm sure that this is exactly how he would have wanted to go.

  • R.I.P cory scott

  • What is the woman's problem? Would she have acted the same way if they were at the motocross show that killed Jeremy Lusk or at the race that killed Dale Earnhardt? People are in these sports because it is dangerous and fans go to the shows because they are dangerous.... wtf?

  • @Orangebike666.... i agree totally thats what sells the damn tickets!!!!all these people come to these events knowing something can go wrong!!! R.I.P Corey Scott......

  • daredevil supreme!

these nutcases have no clue or idea about the physics involved in these stunts; How can he stay up there and where was the bike supposed to go?-vanish in thin air like those nuclear warheads that supposed to disappear after reagan hit them with his star wars weapon?

I think the bike broke his neck after hitting him up there and if he didn't die from that, then the fall on his head would have killed him and if not then the bike would have fallen on his head and killed him.

  • @cay311 He had done the stunt before with no problem. The motorcycle didn't cause his death. It was just an accident.

  • @TELEVISIONARCHIVES

where was the inflated cussion on the ground?

this is no accident, its a stupid-dent!

just like the video where a guy tries to jump on a house with his bike without knowing the structure of the house or taking any safety measures.

  • "Both went home the same year", huh? Oh, you mean "foolishly threw away their lives on unnecessary risks". And the guy below with that moronic interpretation "What a true legend. Risked his own life to please fans". What "fans"? There's no "fans" of a person risking his life flying a motorcycle into a frigging net. Just thousands of voyeurs wondering why a guy would do it. Did he just suck so badly at everything else that he had to whore himself out like that to get approval? Stay in school kids

  • I saw this live when it happened, i was only 10.. The guy's name was Corey Scott. It as the grand finale at one of those US Hotrod Monster Truck shows at the Orange Bowl Arena in Miami, Fl in 1997. He had supposedly performed the stunt succesfully before but failed that time around. I remember my mom was crying.

  • what safety precautions. there is 100.999999999999999% nothing safe about it. one mistake you make that s it there is no other chance

  • What a true LEGEND risked his own life to please fans

  • Proactive security & safety measures are ALWAYS BETTER than reactive improvements. Don't wait for accidents to happen. Prevent them.

  • How stupid and dangerous does a stunt have to be before are willing to call the person out as being stupid? There is no tragedy in something like this. This is Darwinism.

  • what did they expect to happen??

  • i wouldnt admit to being his stunt coordinator.....seriously what was the stunt? flying a bike into the net? and i like the news....blame the net maker....lol...classic example of blame shifting....dont get me wrong it is sad that someone lost their life...

  • Regardless what people thought of the stunt.... Met Corey when he traveled with the Joie Chitwood show and he was a great guy and a athlete of his profession. Always would take the time after a show to "shoot the breeze". Never stuck his nose up to fans. Sucks it happened. Wish more of his Joie Chitwood stunts were on youtube to watch and remember. I have VHS of him I should post someday if allowed. Actual Joie Chitwood Show VHS.

  • How do people call something like this a "freak accident"? It was a stupid, foolish, dangerous stunt. If a person dies playing Russian roulette and someone else said "gee, he'd done it five times before with no problem" everyone would call him a moron. I feel sorry for the family and friends he unnecessarily put through grief for his own selfish grab at glory or money or both.

  • No. That's not how Cory was. He didn't have a death wish. He enjoyed stunts. Stuntmen have been killed doing stunts in movies. Accidents happen.

  • Thank you for your response. I am a stunt coordinator and I was Corey Scott's best friend. He was a total professional. There is much more to this story that are memories best left in the past. However he was very safety aware and loved life.

Corey died in tragic string of events that were not indicitive of his normal proceedures. He was one of the best two wheel guys in the business. He is missed greatly by all who knew him.

  • Spanky Spangler will tell you how much of a pro he was. Spanky was at that show . It was tragic but it was tragic when Dale Earnhardt died but Nascar continues. I first met Cory in Maine when he was part of the Joie Chitwood Thrill Show. If I find video of him at that show I will post it.

  • Spanky Spangler was at Corey's first net jump he did in Atlanta at the Georgia Dome. He was NOT at Corey's fatal accident.

The first net jump event Corey did in Atlanta was for Spanky. The crew was Spanky Spangler, Ken M. (Spanky's #1 guy), Brian Gates (bad ass kick boxer and close friend) and myself (Mark Hager).

Did you meet Corey at Beechridge Speedway? The owner was the best man at my wedding and my dearest friend. I was on the Chitwoods with Corey as well.

  • No . I met Corey in Maine . Chitwood did a show near my hometown near Augusta Maine.

  • DId you know Todd Seeley? I worked with Todd when he helped Vanilla Ice do a stunt for Circus of the Stars at Universal Studios Florida back in the 1990's. I helped with the event, but not in any stunt work.

  • Todd was a very close friend as well. I started in 1989 so Todd was doing Super Force and other stuff around the early 90's. He trained Corey to ride.

I never knew about Todd's Vanilla Ice gig... that is actually pretty damn funny. Todd went home the same year... It almost killed me to lose them both.

  • I have the Vanilla Ice stunt in my youtube video . Look at it. I watched them film many Super Force shows at Universal and around Orlando.

  • Corey became a Born Again Christian just weeks before this show. This was the most important thing any of us do in this life. None of us our promised a next breath. I spoke to Corey the day he past,,, we were going riding the next month and planning for it. He never knew it was his last day.

I'm sure some of the cruel commenters will find folly and fun with what I have said but I hope it reaches their hearts too.

  • Don't evangelize, bro.

  • Sorry. I deleted your comments

    Here they are.

Stuntmen in movies is a different beast than this....and you can be sure if this "stunt" was done for a film, there would be safety measures in place. I don't see the reason for this kind of lifestyle AT ALL. Worst case, you see what happened here. Best case, he succeeds and gets his adrenaline boost, but (in my opinion) most people are still thinking "this guy has balls, but he's stupid for putting his life on the line like that".

  • And for Stuntman in movies, The truth is more have been killed doing stunts in movies. Dar Robinson was one of the best stuntmen around but he was killed doing a stunt for a movie on a motorcycle.

  • This was my uncle Corey. I was only three when this happned..so I never knew him.

  • I'm the Paramedic who talked to him before the jump. I had a bad feeling from the time I arrived at the OB 5 hours earlier. I told everyone about the bad feeling except Cory, I didnt want to spook him. He told me what his blood type was and off he went. Next thing I know I'm pulling the mouth piece out of his mouth. this tragic event effected me more than I can say. He was gone the moment he hit the ground! The following morning when I awoke at home I felt Cory was in my room above my bed....!!

  • You were at the event? What year was this?

  • The Caption says 1997. I believe that would be corrrect!

  • i saw his s.a.t.x show just b 4 that....as a kid i felt that he was gonna die doing that....60ft my ass...that was like 100ft

  • I think he was decapitated by his own helmet strap if I'm correct.

  • No. He broke his neck when he fell. He had done this before without any problem. It was just a freak accident. I was a friend of his. I met him when he worked for the Joie Chitwood Thrill show .

  • Maybe if you've would've read the flyer (the fine print) carefully or watched the commercial or even ask questions, then you would've known what kind of show you'll be watching!

  • Tragic, he had guts.

  • Think he's ok?

  • did he make it

  • @boognish1975 he fell 100 feet neck first. what do u expect? if he had a parachute then he wouldve survived

  • angry lady: this was not a death DEFYING act!

  • Oh cmon... srsly, What did they expect?

  • That wasn't planned very well at all...

  • What did he expect to happen? The net ended 15 meters above the ground.

  • Oh yah he died

  • did he die?

  • OH MY GOD! Is he ok??

  • No. He died.

  • ...

Atleast make a net under the net so he couldnt die no matter how hard he falled.

  • The idea was to do 5 backflips off the net and land safely.

He just landed crooked. Almost had it.

  • O_O
