Sorry to be a bother, but I just installed my new battery. When I charged it for the first time it, the icon would show the charged logo and it is not fully charged. Anyway help please?
@Fortinbras May need to break in the battery. This would involve fully charging the battery, letting it fully die down, recharge, die, and recharge again. From there the battery should be fully conditioned.
I just got your repair kit for my iPod 5.5 which was dead for years. Took 10 minutes to change the battery. I felt like Dr. Frankenstein bringing it back to life, lol
@PinoyPogiman The flex cables are very fragile, however are pretty sturdy if handled properly. They should never be twisted and then have pressure put onto them. The batteries do die out quite often, luckily replacing them is very simple.
@PinoyPogiman The shelf life is pretty long but normally wear on a battery does not take too long, 2-3 years. That is in optimal working conditions. Add moisture, water damage, or heavy use and that can be dropped to 1-2. All of the aftermarket batteries are normally pretty decent, it will depend on the manufacturer though. They normally outlast stock batteries in terms of use a charging speed.
I replaced my iPod battery today. The old one was okay but I wanted to get a newer fuller one. Unforunately, when I put it all back together and pressed play nothing happened. I plugged the iPod into my charger and the sad iPod face appeared and the unit wouldn't charge. I checked everything was in place but same again. I then put my old battery back in and the same happened! Any ideas on how to fix it?
@RepairsUniverse Oh, Good show!!! It works perfectly now! And it lasts for hours- that I know from my waiting period. Thank you a thousand times, I was about to spend $50 to have this done at a mail-in place.
Would this work for a 30gb iPod Video? I'm not quite sure of the gen but it looks like the iPod in the clip above... also, do you suggest buying a replacement battery or simply a 'new' battery?

Do the batteries from the 60/80GB version fit the 30GB version?
Largamelion 1 month ago
@Largamelion Sadly no, the physical size of the 60/80GB is too large to fit in the case.

@RepairsUniverse die out often? how long exactly is the shelf life exactly?
i know there are already 3rd party producers that make the batteries. but how long does it last, plus how do rechargeables die?

What do you do if you -Not TEAR- but accidentally disconnect the ribbon that goes under the hard drive? How would one reconnect this?
jrocker152 1 year ago
@jrocker152 You just simply reconnect it. Open the hard drive jaw, insert the cable and close the jaw again.

Yes, the iPod in the video is actually a 30GB ipod.
I recommend the high capacity batteries on the Repairs (dot) universe web site.
