The consensus seems to be with "kidnappers," which is not the same thing as slave traders. The use of "manstealers" is the same as "kidnappers." Only modern versions trying to play down the Bibles role in slavery translate it to "slave traders," etc

I don't find it at all hard to understand why church is so strong in the black community. For hundreds of years it was the only thing to hold on to. Hope of a better afterlife because the ones they lived was so horrific. That and they were not taught anything else. The real tragedy is now that we have so much information about history at our finger tips, it is a sad joke that there are still some many people that cling onto this nonsense. I to am a black atheist. Im 17 years of age. To be honest i never really believed in god. I've always be skeptical about religion. It's good that i saw through the bullshit now instead of later.

I think it gets watered down in generations. With most of my friends and me our grandparents/elder relatives were born in religious countries like Nigeria, or Jamaica but we were born in Manchester, UK so that's the culture we're more exposed to and it's a very secular culture. I think when you move to another country you can't help but take on new ideas and abandoning religion is definitely one of the things people tend to drop, interestingly this isn't the case among people of Pakistani origin

The term "African" as it is used, is in many respects a misnomer. Africa is a diverse continent, not a country. Africa has had thousands of languages and as many diverse ethnic groups. As the timber of your language does not work for Europe, it certainly does not work for Africa.

LOL: 1Tim 1:10 has different versions. "Manstealers" (KJV, ASV, YLT, DR), "slave traders" (NIV), "kidnappers" (NASB, AB, CEB, DT, HCSB, GWT, GNT), "slave sellers" (NCV, NIRV), or no mention of it at all (WNT, TM), "steal people" (WENT).
The consensus seems to be with "kidnappers," which is not the same thing as slave traders. The use of "manstealers" is the same as "kidnappers." Only modern versions trying to play down the Bibles role in slavery translate it to "slave traders," etc

@oWiSeKiDo That is correct. Atheism is lack of or disbelief. But again the issue here is that you don't seem to understand what fact is. As an individual I feel certain that no god/s exist. It is inconceivable to me. however, as an Atheist, I am able to understand that just because I feel something doesn't make it a fact. There is NO EVIDENCE for the existence of god/s therefore the existence of God/s is NOT a fact.

Different atheists will have different interpretations; this is perfectly natural - it's called freedom of thought & individuality - something the religious indoctrinated are unfamiliar with, lol.

That said, I would be remiss if I didn't thank the Unitarian Universalists for allowing me to come to terms with something that had been troubling me since reading THE CULTURE OF MAKE BELIEVE by Derrick Jensen: the existential impact of Manifest Destiny on indigenous peoples and their relationship to the Cosmos. At least, from my nascent perspective on this, the Indigenous People here had gods of RECIPROCITY.

There's a push to get rid the the "hyphenated" titles, since most blacks living in the United States are Americans, and not immigrants. Perhaps "Black Americans" is what you're looking for.

I don't find it at all hard to understand why church is so strong in the black community. For hundreds of years it was the only thing to hold on to. Hope of a better afterlife because the ones they lived was so horrific. That and they were not taught anything else. The real tragedy is now that we have so much information about history at our finger tips, it is a sad joke that there are still some many people that cling onto this nonsense. That's the power of indoctrinated belief.

Also, if any institution is strong enough to get a people to betray their own, then something is not as it seems. It isn't religion, but a few individuals who have the ability to persuade a group to do so. I hate to say it (actually, I don't mind saying it because it is what I believe), but when you look at it that way, then the notion of a sinister cabal of persons...an "Illuminati", if you will, seems a lot more realistic. I would suggest Michael Tsarion for further research.

I think it gets watered down in generations. With most of my friends and me our grandparents/elder relatives were born in religious countries like Nigeria, or Jamaica but we were born in Manchester, UK so that's the culture we're more exposed to and it's a very secular culture. I think when you move to another country you can't help but take on new ideas and abandoning religion is definitely one of the things people tend to drop, interestingly this isn't the case among people of Pakistani origin

A good and needed video. I think that your commentary on "Africans" selling their own however is misleading and needs to be corrected. The term "African" as it is used, is in many respects a misnomer. Africa is a diverse continent, not a country. Africa has had thousands of languages and as many diverse ethnic groups. As the timber of your language does not work for Europe, it certainly does not work for Africa.

I think the hispanic community has religon based roots as well. We are taught to say "vendicion" which is a request for a blessing from our elders. We are also known to have "santaria" religion which is worhsippping of the saints which comes from a merge of catholocism and christianity.

Its not true that Africans didnt keep their religion. The problem is that in the USA blacks were such a small and oppressed minority that when freedom came many voluntarily accepted the new GOD as a means of social mobility. When one goes to Louisianna it more resemblesthe Caribbean and Brazil where African syncritised religions and africanised Christianities and african religions are abound. With the idea of GOD one can make up anything and then add GOD to it and suddenly one feels better and wise.
