Darwin wasn't racist, nor did he invent scientific racism/social darwinism. Spencer did. Evolution doesn't show the black man is inferior, we only differ in slight genetic mutations. Such as skin colour to suit one's environment's temperature.

This is just ridiculous and very insignificant. If Darwin was wrong about the claims he made regarding human races (specifically that there is one superior race) that doesn't make evolution untrue.

Also, people who educate themselves usually read more than one book, in their life and think critically (something you can hardly ever say about religious fundamentalists) and would therefore realize very quickly that racism - at least from a social point of view - is not a good idea.

I'm not sure what your stance on islamic terrorism is, but it seems that the same thing is happening with the Qu'ran today. And it will always happen, because people are bound to misinterpret writings to fit their own worldview - independent of how wrong or right that worldview is.

Dear Lizzy as you can see from my video that these words were not misinterpret ... Darwin's view on how the "white" man is superior can be clearly seen as fueling imperialism especially in Africa.

It may not be the most important reason like economic and political causes but it is a reason nonethless.

@1802ibrahim Yes, Darwin's view might be racist (since I haven't read the whole part of the book, I don't know for sure, the words might as well be taken out of context). If it is, the misinterpretation still exists: It lies in the thought that Darwin's writing is some kind of justification for racism/ imperialism. Just as, for example, the thought that the bible justifies slavery is a misinterpretation (even though slavery is condoned in the Bible in very clear words).

Charles Darwin was against the prevailing racism of his time. He was thankful every day to never live in a country that had slavery.

Ironically, it was a "Christian" United States that had slavery... one full of people who mentioned the slavery in the Bible to justify it.

God created all men equally. No race is inferior and anybody can achieve anything if they put their mind to it . Evolution is a theory that has yet to be proven and because it is such a far stretch and has so many holes, i doubt it ever will. On the flip side, The belief in god has been around since the dawn of man, and cannot be disproven. God is a superior being who has all mighty power over everything, and how else would such coincidences happen to humans that reflect a human logic?

From an evolutionary standpoint racism would have been advantageous. In a time of limited resources why would you share with anybody not of your own family/group/kind? Would it not be advantageous to distrust people you aren't familiar with, regardless of skin colour? If you'd never seen a particularly tall person would you not be a little suspicious?
