Dublin some pretty awful suburbs in its Western part but the city centre itself and Eastern suburbs are lovely...even its roughest parts are still less rough than many parts of Glasgow, London, Paris, Marseille and Italian cities such as Milan and Naples. I'm curious - where are you from?

Depends i have to say,

Summerhill, phibsborough and some parts of smithfield is not.

Ofcourse, but England is pretty trash as well. Atleast Paris and some italian cities are pretty beutyfull in general.

Even though they have bad suburbs.

But thing is probably 70% of Dublin looks ugly and are dirty.

It looks better outside the city though.

Paris is not beautiful in general, apart from the city centre it's absolutely awful. Same for most Italian cities.

Having been to Stockholm, it has less "bad" areas than Dublin but its city centre is a lot more bland than Dublin city centre, very grey and boring. Malmo's not much better, and has a lot of social problems with Islamic immigrants. Really, they're no different to Dublin.

PS: I agree with you about tracksuits, they're bad...but better than loads of "fjortis" people!

Stockholm is probably 1000 times more beutiful then Dublin.

Malmö, never been there and yes it's Islamic problems.

One difference is that in Sweden alot of the criminal problems are immigrant related.

But in Ireland it's the Irish who are the criminals and live in bad areas.

That's largely because of a socialist form of government and undemocratically high tax rates - I guess it comes down to whether you're willing to pay such high tax rates to subsidise lazy people who don't want to work, - to stop them committing crime and "wearing tracksuits".I'm all for social inclusiveness but from what I've seen in Sweden it's now so liberal it's just silly.

Other than the cathedral,the "nicest" building in Stockholm is a browny/grey colour.It's a nice city but has no "buzz".

Still the economy in sweden and the people in soceiety are richer then Ireland and sweden is way far ahead in technology.

I can deny that,because I've been there.Its a nice city,but quite dull and doesn't have a good atmosphere or friendly people,unlike Dublin.The economy is better,but in terms of average wealth it's still about the same (just look up list of countries by GDP per capita)

The high energy bills are a hangover from when Ireland was the richest country in the world (2005-2008).Wealth = inflation = high cost of living = high bills.

Well no economy is not the same.

A salaries are a little higher in sweden and almoast everything is half price then what it is here. so it's different.

But yes i know what you mean, Stockholm people is not known for being nice.

But Irish are nice well that depends.

Lower class areas has alot of not nice people.

In my experience Irish kids are way more big mouth and cocky then kids in other countries.

So it's a huge difference

Sorry,it was the richest in the EU,second-richest in the world.That's over now, I know, but blame it on ignorant politicians, not the people.Most major international companies have their HQ in Dublin e.g Google,Yahoo,Youtube,Facebook,­Dell,Microsoft,Apple etc..I know we have low-tax but that;s a good sign for the quality of people in our workforce. I agree Sweden is more prosperous now,I just disagree that Stockholm is that much nicer than Dublin. Why do you live/have lived here if it's so bad?

First of all, nobody "has to smoke weed", it's a personal choice made by idiots.

Secondly, few people are going to pay 21% tax(and that will only increase) on weaker weed than they can get for cheaper on the streets. Look at the Netherlands - the place is flooded with illegal weed at a much cheaper rate. Besides, you can "regulate" weed all you want, it will still cause lung cancer, brain cell damage and possibly schizophrenia among those who decide to smoke it.

smoking anything will cause lung cancer! i use weed as it is the most medicinal plant on this planet. it's completely non toxic providing its not burnt, and has been found to be an anti-carcinogen. i have spent a lot of my life researching this plant and its uses, and i think your generalisation is quite ignorant. Regarding your comment about tax, the value of weed is inflated and doesn't represent the cost of production. if legalised it would beome valueless immediately!

Why would we legalise it if we weren't making any money from it? If everyone was smoking it, hospital bills would be through the roof. That's whyy tobacco is so heavily taxed - to pay forr medical bills.

As I've said before, people would still buy from dealers rather than pay tax. According to you, people would grow it as well. Garda resources would still be used to tackle illegal weed.

For the record, I did try cannabis when I was in first year, and yes, I was an idiot for smoking something that could give me cancer. Even if I hadn't, my opinion would still be valid.

Ive read about a study which was conducted to prove smoking marijuana caused cancer.Although they found that while smoking marijuana on its own your chances of cancer were similar to that of a non smoker. and if you smoke tobacco using weed also your risk was greatly reduced to almost the same as a non smoker. They said tobacco damaged lung tissue and left it likely to become malignant but weed damaged it and left it non malignant

"smoking anything will cause lung cancer!" That's a direct qoute from you, and it's 100% true. Inhaling any kind of smoke will damage your lungs. If I set a piece of paper on fire, then inhale the smoke, every day for years, it's far more likely that I will get lung cancer than if I wasn't doing it.
