  • wicked

  • i fucking love it omg

  • got lucky on a cold steel holiday flyer couple of years ago and got it for about 60.00.. score.. your rt.. heavy but you get something for the weight..

  • More of a collector's knife than a practical knife since Nutn reveals safety liabilities in the video clip.

  • haha that knife you were pointing to when you mentioned prices is over 300 dollars

  • I don't like the videos long because it takes a while for them to load for me, but this was a really nice video cause I like the black rhino too

    Good job

  • You have to make your videos way shorter

  • @articfox171 Says who? There are plenty of videos on YouTube where the reviewer opens the knife, shows it and then stabs something..the end. This is NOT one of those channels, and doesn't plan on becoming one. -- Veri (Nutn's sister)

  • Actually there is...well...was a reason why some knives came out of the box a little dull. Long ago, knives used to come out of the box like that because it was a starter bevel. Everyone used to profile and sharpen their own blades. That was the market desire. Most of this was pre modern era though for the knife industry, pre 1970's. But times change.

  • I like cold steel but I am damn well tired of them overcharging on their knives for such a mid-range steel like AUS8, and if you go for any of their VG-1 models they're painfully marked up. So they make great knives but significantly overcharge. Models like the Recon 1 etc should be like 40 dollar knives. Especially considering pretty much everything they make is based in Taiwan.

  • where do you get the cold steel rhino

  • @elliot123inm google

  • hey nuntnfancy i own a black rhino and a large voyager and i like them both, ill get around to making a video about them later so far i have only made a couple cut tests.. anyways i dont know why the black rhino is so many times more expensive, the handle materials are good but not super expensive and the blade steel ( aus8a) is a meduim quality steel. dont get me wrong i love it but can you ( or somene else) expalin why the pricepoint is so much

  • Do you have a khukri?

  • I really like lot of things about the Black Rhino however, i do believe that there is a design flaw in the first gen on these knifes. I have a video that shows exactly what im talking about. Just a word of warning before buying (it is rather expensive after all)

  • Im sooo pissed.. i just got their latest catalog and cold steel was blowing these knives out for 65.00!! I just called them to order a few of them and ya,, they are GONE!

  • black rhino nice lookin knife

  • I'm impressed with the quality of your clear and precise presentation and the overall brass tacks reviews. When I see your vids I get a no bullshine straight to the point (pun intended) pros and cons video.

Keep up the great vids, knives on Youtube IS nutnfancy period.

  • Have you ever reviewed the Shanghai Shadow?

  • Is there a video where a knife scores a 10?

  • @enjoiorange I believe the flash one did.

  • I got one coming along with the New Model Recon 1 that I will be doing field tests on once they get here like I did with the RW-1 and ZT 0301.

    Cool video man. :)

  • should i get the closeout for $64 for the black rhino or should i get the closeout for the rajah 1 for $99??? which one nut'n?

    thanks your great!!!

  • TAIWAN!!!!!???????

That word just degrades this product overall. It's the sign of cheapness no matter how you defend it. Expect that steel to be manipulated and degraded compared the US made ones.

The aluminum just gives it all away on how cheaply made this knife is. Aluminum wears quite faster than other metals and expect that knife to develop a noticeable amount of wiggle in the long run. They polished it to mask the lower quality of this knife.

  • Great video! I also got in on this special projects/closeout, mine should show up some time Monday. I may even get the guts up to do my own review of it, more than likely in print on a forum....hopefully nutnfabcy won't mind my review of something he's already done. Seriously, nutn' your videos have rekindled my interest in knife collecting!!

    Thanks

  • @investigator76 Mind? Gosh no, the more info out there, the better! If you do make a video out of it, send it over as a response..if you wanna. =) - Veri

  • Thanks, unfortunately I have kind of limited web access, so posting a vodeo is not possible just yet, but I did do a review of the rhino on knifeforums, and gave nutnfancy a little shout out at the end, I hope that's ok

  • @investigator76 Very cool of you! -- Veri

  • if you want a cold steel black rhino go online to there special projects side and it is on clearance for $64.99--hell i bought two!!!!!!!

  • Thank you nutnfancy; bought this knife based on your review. Cheers!

  • speaking of the Tenacious, i just bough one, they fixed the blade retention problem.

  • nice video, nice knife,ai gone to buye one

  • Wow. The picture in the catalog DOES NOT do this one justice. Thanks so much for making the video because otherwise, I never would've given this knife a second glance.

  • A very attractive looking knife in a very classic design , maybe too classic in the case of your comments regarding slipping down and accidentally disengaging the lock , which is probably why most makers of tactical cutlery got away from the classic slip lock and use a liner lock/ frame lock design which in my opinion is a much stronger more dependable locking system. Once again a very nice knife , but is it really worth $150.00 ? not by a long shot.

  • Thanks for the great review. I like the CS Rajah series myself, but I'd rather preffer a smaller version.

  • i like cold steel but they ridiculously overprice. i buy ka bar and ontario

  • i found that calling cold steel directly, and asking for specials is the way to go, i found this for 95 from them and am absolutely satisfied with it. i own a couple k bars and being in the marine corps needed a solid folder. well worth it. overpriced, sure, but finding deals is very easy, try it out, there customer care is awsome!! happy trails

  • I have to admit, I didn't like this knife when you first reviewed it. Just too flashy for my liking at the time. However, I've became a fan of Cold Steel since then and I'm now dying to get ahold of this one. Thanks for the great review.

  • thats a nice knife how much was it

  • This knife is on the Christmas sale for only $99, which is a great price. When in doubt, check it out!

  • I want that knife so bad. How much did it cost?

  • Hey if you don't have a video on the Black Talon could you make one, thanks.

  • I think I would like the knife a lot more with a titanium, or even stainless frame.

  • Is it just me or does this knife's blade look like the ka-bar bull dozier's?

  • do u have a video of the cold steel espaida if u dont u should get it it looks pretty good

  • Maybe I somehow missed it, but I searched and did not find a review for the Cold Steel Black Talon folding knife! It's between this one and that! Help me please! Price is not much of an issue, more just which one is better overall?

  • DUH, I know that.

But I would like him to review the Black Talon if he can get it.

  • watch his videos on the spyderco magazine review for his thoughts on the talon style blades. Id say go with the black rhino because of them stronger tip and I just prefer lockback to linerlock.

  • Nutn, the gap on the spine is actually for the Tri-Ad locking system. It rams a HUGE hunk of steel into place to give a stupid good lock up, so actually, you really don't lose any strength at all in the open position. The thing is a bank vault.

  • Theres NO WAY this knife is worth the prices I saw it for ($130+) there are way too many excellent knives by much better manufacturers for less money.

  • every manufacturer has knives expensive and inexpensive knives yea u can get better for less money but its your personal preference and personal use with the knife

  • cant u do a review of the fallkniven pxl

  • hey nutn i was wonderingif u like tanto blades, because if u do i was wondering if u have or have looked at the gerber armor send me a message if u wnt some specs

  • Hey doesn't really, he mentions it in his spike review.

  • Does anyone have an espada knife? If so are they really worth what they cost?

  • Dont have one myself, but Ive only read negative reviews about it. Id say its one expensive knife with people with a lot of money.

  • Thanks for the info!

  • Ya i am trying to get the smallest one from a friend who can give me a deal.

  • I know you don't do requests anymore, but you should think about reviewing the S&W S.W.A.T tactical folder.

  • Mr. Fancy doesn't normally review crap knives

  • It's actually a pretty nice knife.

  • Is that so? Then why is he reviewing this one? or any Cold Steel for that matter.

  • Hey I said normally.

  • And if he does review something he doesn't approve of, he explicitly expresses why.

  • What's with that gap when the knife is folded, where the blade and the choil (I think that's what it is called) are supposed to meet? CS has that on a lot of their knives and it drives me crazy! Couldn't they just make the back of the blade longer, or extend the choil? Great review, nutnfancy, but the fit and finish flaws you point out with the knife certainly should not exist with a knife, production or not, priced as much as this one is.

  • can't see a whole lot of point to that blade shape... looks great for imtimidating people ... buut completely useless in the real world.

  • ... its a knife....

  • Well aren't you the politician.

  • xD i know rite.

  • well, be perfectly honest, what would you use it for?

  • well, i live in LA, so sometimes shit gets crazy, thats why i always have a knife on me.

  • what kind of knife do you carry?

    i carry a cs AK-47

  • i use a random gerber knife i found in the park...

  • hmm fair enough... though knives in the uk are always a hazy thing... i think it's >3" and non locking, though old plod might get upset even if you had one of them....

  • Maybe I'm too young to be looking at knives, but I was wondering when are you aloud to carry a knife around with you if at all. Are you aloud to carry it with you everywhere if you do not display it? What may a knife benefit me in life just self-defense or maybe for some other occasions. I know I'm not great with weapons or such, but I would like to own one just incase I am in a real jam.

  • it depends on where you live but in my area its 16. 10 miles down the road across the state line its 18. some places knifes arent allowed at all, government buildings for one, and for defense you dont get too much better. no permit needed in most areas and its easy to conceal, as for utility theres not many better tools. i use mine every day. i would recommend going out and buying a good folder. just be responsible also dont get some cheap junk knife. get a good brand or youl be disappointed

  • oh okay thanks

  • Is it an issue that it's sticking what appears to be nearly 2 inches out of your pocket? I would be concerned that ppl get all uncomfortable when there's someone with a knife. I don't have an issue with it, but I personally carry my knife more discretely. Also, is there any chance you can convince a cop that it's a tool? Dropping over a hundred on a knife to get it confiscated and "destroyed" isn't what I'm after.

  • Why would an officer take your knife from you??!

  • In some places people actually tell you what you can own and not own.

  • That's why you carry a copy of the constitution with you everywhere ;)

  • Then that officer is an enemy of the people of the United States of America. Their job is to make sure no ones rights are being violated. If they do so themselves, they should be throw in prison.

  • Why would a sworn officer of the law be keeping a collection of confiscated evidence? So your uncle infringes on people's legal right to carry a pocket knife, and then himself breaks the law by stealing police evidence. What a disgrace to our country.

  • its illegal for him to keep the knives he confiscates

he has to turn it in for holding

  • If those knive were confiscated as you stated, he damn well better also have arrested the people who expressed their willingness of using a knife as a weapon and turned in the knife as evidence. Otherwise, he's just a dirty cop whose illegally seizing private property.

  • Sounds like a dirty cop either way. No cop can keep anything he confiscates. Can a narc officer keep the cocaine that he confiscates? Sounds like a real prick and also not the only cop doing this.

  • So, does your uncle give out receipts to the people he confiscate knives from? Or does he issue citations or add weapon charges subsequent to an arrest? That's the law. If your uncle built a knife collection off of legal pocket knives then he's the one breaking the law. Even as a cop, you can't just go around confiscating people's knives just because. BTW I'm a cop. I'm not speaking from theory.

  • In some states like Arizona, where I live, a knife with a blade over 4 inches must be partially displayed when it's on your person, or it can be confiscated. 4&1/4" is not a big deal, but if a cop wants to push the issue...

It looks like a pocket knife, instead of a offensive or defensive knife, so you could probably get away with it.

    SWEET knife!

  • to each his own...

  • I take it back. I dont want to be a hypocrite. I just watched the review of the Godfather auto-knife, and I want one. It is well over 200 bucks. I have never seen an auto knife with that quality; it calls to me. I understand now, it just took different knife.

  • Very cool knife and video. I have to say that Nutnfancy surprised me with how positive he was on this review. Thanks TNP!

BTW: If you like this knife, you should check out the SOG Tomcat 3.0. It is EASILY one of the most incredible knifes that I've ever owned. Simply unbelievable...and they do jimp the top spine of the blade. VG-10 steel too. It is priced like the Black Rhino.

  • Hey nutnfancy... how do you get the catalogs? i want one they look cool

  • Go to the coldsteel website, they have a mailing list.

  • check out the nutnfancy fan club on facebook!!!!!!!!!!

  • its a very good knife

  • i find when stabbin with knives with that release with a hard grip with unlock the blade by accident...i dislike those kinds of black unlockers.

  • if you can't see the writing get some glasses..

  • shut up your four eyes

  • dude i have 20/13 visone..what you have to see at 13ft i can see at 20...you dumb shit

  • that is a good looking knife, and an excellent review.

Also, I as well would like to know if you plan on reviewing the scimitar anytime soon?

btw I got my new cold steel catalog yesterday and the prices are still in it. Wonder why?

  • Hopefully that knife is not made in China

  • Hey nutnfancy, could you please try to do a review of the Cold Steel Scimitar? It looks like an excellent blade and i just wanted to know what you think of it. Btw i love your videos and i am a faithful subscriber.

    Thanks, GoeatpieNOW

  • i got the same catalog but the cover shows the two bushmans and the pocket bushman. Is there a difference?

  • I picked this knife up yesterday :) Awesome blade!

  • I like this type of blade lock to be on the lighter side because it allows for quick deployment of the blade without the use of the thumbstud.

  • In a $150 knife I would expect either very good build quality/finish, or high end materials, or a little bit of both. With only an AUS8 blade and aluminium instead of titanium, and with finishing issues on the frame, I'd have to say this knife is way over priced - as most of the more expensive Cold Steel knives are to be honest. Love the blade shape and grinds though.

  • i ordered my catolog like a few days ago. cant wait till it comes!!

  • Hey Nutnfancy what cataloge's do you recommend? im looking for some good informative gun both handgun and rifles ive been looking but would like to know your opinion on what to get.

  • Why don't you do some research and then decide which firearms will best fit your POU.

  • cold steel products just blow,so do kershaws. Benchmade is the way to go. Or if you want to feel good about yourself you could drop a mortgage payment on a sebenza, but they aint worth what you pay.

  • Kershaw makes a wonderful product and has outstanding customer service.

  • givwe me that :O i buy it from u:P

  • LoL Does look like a "QVC" knife.

  • why so many knife reviews i want to see some tactical gear reviews or ar-15 reviews

  • haha same, id love to see an ar-15 review.

  • They're there just search his profile.

  • He initially reviewed only knives. I want more knife reviews.

  • Hey nutn i know this isnt the greatest place to ask questions that are not relivant to the videos but i thought other TNPers might like to see the anwser. my question is where did you come up with the names i.e. nutnfancy, tacticaldoodle, last suspect and so on.

  • I know what you mean about the enjoyable opening sound. It really adds to the second kind of cool. Heck, the sound was half the reason I decided to try a Kershaw Blur.

  • I swear by my Stonewashed Blur.

  • nobody can review em like you nutn, and that price thing really piss me off

  • Lol...loved the review Nutnfancy, i was laughing so hard near the end!!!

  • I'm bummed over the aluminum bolsters. Aluminum doesn't fare well, especially in a working man's pocket.

  • for about ten years (from age 10-20ish) i carried a kershaw folder with a completely aluminum handle with rubber inserts. It faired just fine and at the hands of a kid that didn't take great care of it at that.

Aside from the liner lock being a little bent, a screw missing from the clip, and a few knicks in the handle, it's in fantastic shape 12 years later.. I've still got it.

  • I stand by my Kersahw's as well.

  • kershaw all day, every day.

  • damn strait kershaw is the best

  • errrgh not a fan of Cold Steel at all

  • IDK why I love these videos so much lol....i'm 16 and cant buy ANYTHING he reviews almost (other than the gear and such lol) But they are still the best!! Keep it up!

  • Except for the part where your a fucking douche queen who would just decide to start picking fights on decent videos....save it for the virals and screamers....

  • this knife could use a hilt

  • I agree. It could at least use more of a finger groove on the front. If they had something like the Nim Cub 2 from Benchmade, I would be very happy. They could probably do something smaller. Good review nutn!

  • not bed knife, good blade. ..hmmm not for me. Good rev.

  • Sweet knife! That is a beefy folder!

  • found it online for about 140... but 140 for an AUS8 blade... for that price I'd hope for VG1

  • would make for an awesome auto :-D

  • He is just giving you examples on the application of the blade and knife itself. God forbid the day you must deploy it in a self defense situation, but it's always good to be prepared and knowledable on the type of blade you are carrying.

  • talking and doing are 2 different things.

  • LOL

  • My catalog has prices in it. You must have got one of the retail catalogs that they send to dealers so they can show products they can get but the prices arent shown to your customer so you can quote them a price without a hassel.

  • could the cold steel catalog have just one page that the copy wasn't reversed out of black? But that's how the freaking gun and knife catalogs go. They obviously don't want us to read about their products.

MORE WHEEL GUN REVIEWS, maybe the S&W classic model 40?

  • HAHA.when you took the knife out i immediately saw the griptape on the spine of the knife.

  • I like the handle on the Rhino. That G-10 looks great.

  • catalog with no prices.... maybe its a 'magazine'!! haah

music equipmnt catalogs do that too and its shady business if you ask me

  • Excellent review as always bro, to me that knife looks a bit too cartoony. Plus I'm not really a big fan of Cold Steel in general... they seem too Hollywood to me.

  • Some scissor companies will sell scissors unsharpend to dog groomers. Like a car salesmen selling cars on empty :P

  • Keep up the good reveiws!

  • hey man... nutnfancy videos deserve a lot more views than that... like a million or two.

  • I have the Cold Steel UWK Black

  • lol, virgin handle.

  • I want to get this thing in my hands to tell for sure, but in addition to a lack of jimping, the choil doesn't look like it has much holding power either. Correct me if I'm wrong but for a tac folder, that sucker just seams slippery.

  • definitley going to grab one of these.. thanks nutnfancy. another great review as always.

  • Nice catalog, and would make a great bathroom book. The lack of prices suggests that inflation may have an impact on prices over time, plus they may be using it for multiple markets (yes, even if it's in English).

  • the back looks strange, otherwise a good knive

  • Five Stars!!

  • that black sable was in the movie Prom Night

  • Another great video!

  • wat grip tape did u use?

mob, jessup, or like a generic brand?

  • I hate how no one lists their prices nowadays. Do they think it'll get them more sales somehow? They are wrong.
