Good move. I'm a T12 para spinal cord, when I fall it's usually pretty violent my knees fly back and hit me in the face in the instant I'm trying to recover balance. Anybody else ever have that issue?
@nerk171990 find a sport with lots of cardio, weight/resistance training (use ALL muscles u have available - compound lifts where possible), eat right (keep your alcohol, sugar, saturated fats to minimum), sleep right, keep it routnine and you'll get see results after 3 months. General advice I use to give as a gym instructor before my injury - still applies to us!!
That's badass! I went to TIRR and they wanted to teach me by getting completely out of the chair and going through a LOT more trouble. I'm gonna keep my wheelie bars a little longer though cause when I'm at the gym lifting weight then falling backwards with that weight is a much bigger issue than getting back up. Thanks for this though.
nice this will come in handy.I will be practicing this for a bit till i get it down. am a T12 and just now coming out of my shell. injured 12/6/06 and you make me look like a baby! Thanx a ton! They don't teach this shit in rehab, at least not to me, I have learned every thing by trial and error so clips like this are of GREAT importance keep it up! Oh if it isn't too muck trouble i would love to see how you get your chair in and out of a car "if you drive a car" i think i could refine my method
thats great. i have actually been able to do that sucessfully once or twice. its pretty neat to watch peoples reactions. like holly crap ive never seen anyone do that b4. im a recent injury i was crushed by a tree, it practically bent my body in half shattering my L1 and T12 on feb 15 2010. my therapists were telling me i should make some good quality instructional videos on what they were teaching me so people could see examples. so i thought id go look and see if there already were any.
awesome video bro!! I make videos too about my disability and being in a wheelchair, check them out if you want, I'm gonna go check out the rest of your videos right now!
LMAO! I fell over in a Dr's office full of people... I was backing into a spot to park hit a rugs upturned edge and the shift in my weight sent me right over... I was laughing so hard, everyone else was in shock.
That is a great tip buddy! I will indeed be practicing that move. My wife will freak when I just pop myself back up like that. LOL
By the way LOVE those caster wheels man! Nice touch.
yeah i've done that before in my wheelchair
