  • NOSTALGIA

  • Awesome game! I loved the aspect of ship to ship battles in this one.

  • At first I was turned off by the huge amount of sailing you're supposed to do. Once I accepted it, 'Suikoden IV' turned out to deliver a really good RPG-time.

  • Worst protagonist ever.

  • @Hiscrayz I actually found Lazlo a great leader for the army. He was inspirational, and showed with action and dedication what words could not.

  • @dnangelfan24 You would be right there, I just thought his character design was pretty bad in game IMO. However, I loved him in Rhapsodia.

  • @Hiscrayz Well, he's young, only a boy, and he's forced to fight day in and day out in a war he was pushed into, and the next thing he knows he's leading an entire army, it's some pretty heavy shit to go through, and I would imagine he was desgined with these things in mind. I liked his overall character, seeing how most RPGs for the PS2 were silent, it was nothing new, and picking your own dialogue was a new addition to me, so Suikoden just blew me away.

  • @dnangelfan24 Compared to the likes of McDohol and Rui, I'm really not a fan, but thats your opinion, and a very valid one :)

  • Until you find Viki and the Blinking Mirror travel in this game is tortuous. The aesthetics of the game were off as well- every thing was so plain compared to the bright and vibrant world of 3. The worst part was that the potential for the island nations was limitless, and as a whole, the map just felt empty. There were only about 3 or 4 islands with people on them that you could visit.

  • Of course compared to the others in the series this one isn't as epic but I certainly didn't hate it. Even as a long time fan of the series. I think people are a bit too picky by nature (which isn't so bad) but imo this game has good enjoyable things.

I quite liked the whole sea pirate theme of it. The strategic battles were fun to me, my only real annoyance with 4 was the fact that the boats were slow and the ennemy encounters were a bit too high.

Oh and the cats were so CUTE! :3

  • nah.......suikoden 5 is the best in the series...... it surely has nice graphic and musics.......and it does somewhat related to other series such as suikoden 2......its 9 years b4 suikoden 2..

  • all suikoden games are good, even best. what sucks is that i never get a chance to play them all

  • This was one of the best Suikoden games. Im a true Suikoden fan, and Suikoden 5 and that Tekries SUCKED ASS> They are deviating from the original stories and characters and alike. Hope Suikoden 6 will not be sorry as those 2 ones i mentioned.

  • This game is pretty much not for anyone playing it for the first time since it´s a bit bad telling you what to do at the beginning, you just have to go with your instincts. It does however follow the code as any other Suikoden has done thus far... I need to know the exact reason why you people think this one is the worst. Just following rumours ain´t good enough, I want details.

  • From what i hear, it was the strategy ship battles that turned most gamers off. I would guess that it was because they were so simple, usually telling you up front what the best strategy to beat them is. there were also a number of other simple or easy mini-games that were part of the main storyline like the sword fights for example. The story also isn't one of the fastest and gets annoying quickly if you are impatient.

  • I did miss that fact about those minigames. Those shouldn´t been that much in the center as they are... that and the beginning is the only things I see are bad myself. The shipfights are mostly for strategists since of the different effects with the runes they shoot at eachother. It´s like a sort of boat chess, but with cannons. Maybe some just doesn´t have a strategic mind... sad, since the entire series is about that.

  • Though the story is slow, its very rewarding. There are a plethora of difficult and sometimes mind-bending optional mini games, and quite a few VERY difficult optional bosses. By the time you've successfully rescued your friend [basically 100%-ed the game] You've experienced an enthralling adventure that evoked a wide array of emotions, and left you feeling like YOU were the main protagonist the whole time.

  • On a side note, after you rescue your friend, you even have the option to execute him for betraying everyone and setting the whole mess of things in motion. That alone kept me playing through even the most difficult and aggravating parts. when i came to the option however, I couldn't do it. It was the final key point that solidified Suikoden 4 as a -Good Game- for me when i actually felt like i would have been taking a life, and doing something wrong to a close friend.

  • You mean Snowe... well, you have three options... that bugged me for awhile that there are three options. I think he will refuse your option of joining since, let´s face it, it´s absurd... but the third option might be the key to get him over to your side later on. "Let the sea determine his fate" It´s like what you have gone through anyways so it´s the golden rule in a way.

  • To be honest I've never played any other Suikoden game aside from 4, But when i did play it it was one of the most rewarding and entertaining games I've ever played. Sure the graphics were Iffy at times, the over-word sea was Ridiculously huge, and the Battle system was too simple even for an inexperienced gamer like myself at the time. All those traits however meant nothing to just how deeply involved and moving the story was for me, and the fact that it was a Pirate story made it better, to me

  • damm, you know what the funny things is? Suikoden 4 is the worst of the series, hands down!

On the other hand, Suikoden 2 is the best of the series, hands down!

  • I agree with you, but in my case I´ve played through all the three before this one and still think somewhat the same. It must be the boat trips or something that makes people angry on it... it´s a new way of exploring though and it feels kinda fresh in a way. I dare also say that I´m drawn into the game, I cannot turn it off easily! If it has that effect, it is indeed a dignified Suikoden. And with that all are wrong. (remember, I played 1,2,3)

  • @Billaxle WOW- you if thought this was good, you must play the others. The story line, aesthetics, game play, travel etc. are much much better in every other edition.

  • I agree that remakes get fucked every time. I don't understand how hard it is to just graphically update a game and keep it exactly the same. Thats why the FFVII remake will never happen.

  • Hmm you got a point there. I'd just want a graphical update. mabye some more side quest but to completely change it! Hells No.

  • Nothing will beat Suikoden 2

  • agree...

  • Unless its a ps3 remake of 2 that is.

  • no, it's fine as is...

  • ffs... how can u ppl sell the soul of a game to a new-generation console? go play some fucking fantasy wars with 1hit kill and the most cool graphics in the world... u souless beast

  • Suikoden 1 and 5 were better than 2 IMO.

  • I love tis game, but i've complete it, and now, im playing suikoden 5. tho the top in my list is still suikoden 4 xD

  • This game was cool...but im a true suikoden fiend so i'll like anything with 108 stars...lol...but i HATED Snowe and the Cat people was some funny lookin muthas....lol

  • Ah i remember this game love it. But man i hated how they made the main character run it looked so gay.

  • This song is so addictive! simply the best of all the intro music of all Suikoden games.

  • Hmm i need to know if this game is worth buying. I've gotten my hands on sukoden II & V and they blew me away, i've been hearin nothing but terrible things about this game so i'm not sure, all i really care about is the story, can someone point me in the right direction and tell me if it's worth it??? hurry b4 im broke!! XD

  • By far the most terrible of the series. you should get Suikoden 1. Suikoden 3 is ok. Love this intro music though.

  • definately a good game to buy! :]

  • @amari17

3 is much better than 4, but 4 is still worth playing if you are a suikoden fan. It would be a lot of fun to play 1 after 5 because you'd be going in chronological order.

  • I love that Suikoden III that was my favorite series, the next one was okay but had not that much of an interesting story.

  • may i know the name of this song??

because i really love it and i wanna download it...but i dunno where to find it!! n i dunno its name!!

  • La Mer :]

  • thank you :)

  • haha after thinking about it, i think lazlo's design is much more epic and probably more accepting than V's hero's (faroush, freyjadour, ardil, whatever his 'official' name is) last costume. the subtle hint of royalty is there but it's too unheroic for a leader's costume. anyway, i accidentally spoiled lazlo's story from another website and his story isn't that bad but it's too short and you can start to piece things together at the end which i think is dumb for a leader's character development

  • personally this is my favorite suikoden.

The graphics were great as well as the story. The only thing i hate about this game is the frequent ramdom encounters.

Suikoden3-has a good but weird battle system

-has interesting but linear trinity system

Suikoden5's battle system bounce back to suikoden1 and 2 with few minor twist.

in terms of graphics i think IV has the best.

I think suikoden5 traded graphics to put more content in the game due to space limitation on the dvd.

    so

    IV>II>III>I>V>Tactics

  • it doesn't mean that i hate V or tactics in fact i like the whole series but if i have to choose which is my favorite that would be the order.

after saying my opinion i have to ask

    what's yours?

  • yeahhh that's true it has good graphics but the story is way too short compared to other suikodens :(

  • sorry to say but i think this is the worst one. i'll admit the graphics are good but i absolutely cannot stand the human character designs. i also feel there's not enough enemy variety. i'm 20 hours into the game and i've seen like 3-4 different kinds of rodents, hairballs, mosquitoes, and rock crabs. it's still a good game but not anything i'd be proud to have as part of my suikoden collection. 4 characters out of 108? no S,M,L? i think lazlo is the blandest leader out of the 5. proposterous!

  • totally agree with you about that but still i like it. Maybe i'm more into visuals rather than content?...well anyway thats what will happen if they put more graphical power rather than content.

  • On the contrary :3 I love the game, I love the characters I love the quick battles, indeed they are QUICK. The game moves at a fast pace in my opinion, I like it.

  • i was nicked named Kika XD is it becasue i act like her a i have a real sword thats ment for vaboring

  • saboring*

  • I love all the characters in this game. Hervey!!

Oh, all the OST is also amazing, do you know where can I download it?

  • try blue laguna

  • this game's storyline was GREAT i have played and beaten all suikoden games to date except V and tactics...damn tactics.....stupid GRRRRRAWR!!!!AHHHHHHH!!!!!!HATE HATE HATE HATE!!!!!!!!!!!!but anyways suiko 4 was only great if you got all 108 SoD........ TED FOREVER!!!

  • 4th best game in the series. Still a memorable storyline.

  • lol @ 4th best game

  • the accordion in this song is so cool :D

  • Are you serious? I did not think that sentence could be possible.
