Hello, i've got a question. So when i get to the step when you type "make" to compile the folders... it says this... when i type make and hit enter: "make: *** /lib/modules/2.6.38/build: No such fiile or directory. Stop.

wait backtrack to start and then plug the usb.

Down right of your screen will apear the usb.

Press ctrl+alt right click on usb and click connect to host,if dont start unplug the plug it again.

for WPA-PSK encrypted passkeys, theres a few things that come to mind. First off all, most of the keys ive cracked have obviously been completely retarted like "kitty" or their phone number.... So when wardriving take into consideration the unawareness of the down-troddens effort put into making their passkeys, and try the default dictonary file that comes w. B3/B4etc.

Second. download yourself something called "rainbow file" which is basically anywhere from a 2-8gig dictonary file.

Hi I'm having some trouble setting up kismac on ubuntu...

I'm trying to use an ubuntu boot disk instead of BT4 (on my macbook). I've cracked WEP's before w/ BT4 and now I'm getting into WPA. When I run the command "sudo apt-get install aircrack-ng" or anything similar, it shows something loading ...i forget what...then it says "E: Could not find kismet" or something.

Help?

Is it possible to crack a WPA network that has a passphrase with a word NOT in the dictionary and WITHOUT using brute force? It seems like the only way to crack WPA is if they have their passphrase as a common word...

With all one-way hashes you have to use a dictionary attack or a brute force attack to crack the passphrase. However, you can build a WPA rainbow table to decrease the time it takes to crack the passphrase. In a later episode we will show how to do that.

Well no other tutorial bothered explaining just how to catch a 4 way handshake and the fact that you might need to run the aireplay a couple of times while you have the other thingi watchin ...i suppose it is kinda obvious once you already know this but...

Is WPA-PSK2 hackable? I'm using that encryption. WEP is extremely easy to hack, and so is WPA, is PSK2 the same?

I've personally hacked like around 20 WEP networks for free internet.

you can use airolib-ng to precompute the dictionary.

this will jump aircrack-ng from 33 k/s up to 1,7800 k/s !! so if you working will a large dic file, what would take days can now only take minutes !!!! (with backtrack 3 final)
