  • good little advert, awesome little car

  • Funny, romantic, stylish.

    Classic advert.

  • BOB! YES! 8-)

    Brilliant!

  • I never ever get tired of hearing this joke when anyone learns my name.

Yep, never get tired of it...

    :(

  • im named after nicole from this advert lol

  • Great advert, Crap car!

  • NICCCCOLLLE

  • I can't actually escape this advert. My name is Nicole, I'm from Scotland, here a lot of us say papa instead of grandpa. Whenever I say, "papa?" there is someone on hand to say "Nicole?"

Though I wasn't named after the ad! A bit more personal reasons from my parents, hehe.

  • HAHA best advert ever!

  • Superb. Renault's best ad yet - and a hard one to top.

  • Nicole..... Bob?.... YES! Fu#$ me I wish I we're as sec as that erwgerugurr89ue

  • I remember seeing this the first time it was broadcast and squealing in a fan-girl fashion. I'm a massive R+M fan and wish I could've traded places with the bride Bob is so cute! :)

  • My dad called me nicole and if my mum has a girl its guna be called clio :L

  • Im named after these adverts! :L

  • @ImaginingReality Wot - are you called "Bob" or "Vic"?

  • @MikeyTTTT Nicole. o.o

  • I'd fight to get my hands on Nicole

  • my friend was named after this advert

  • What Bob?

  • YES!!!!

  • You mean this was a spoof....??

  • ...no, it was the last of the long-running Renault ads, marking the end of the Papa - Nicole adverts, with the introduction of the Clio mark 2.

  • it was a spoof of the ending scene in the graduate

  • yeh, Vic and bob are 2 comedians who did a skit on the nicole, papa adverts few years before, renault must have liked them doing it. Obviously worked as 23 million viewers watched it

  • Possibly the most viewed advert in UK Television History?

  • Not possibly, officially. :)

  • My dad was soo obsessed with this advert he named me Nicole :L x

  • Omg same :| I was given the middle name Nicole.

  • i've been looking for this vid for years! thank you so much!

  • It's so sweet the way she shouts Bob.

  • this advert still haunts me 2 this day :( lol

  • This is not a spoof, it was renault's way of saying farewell to nicole and papa, and hello to the clio mark 2... check it on wikipedia if you don't believe me

  • @2cvbloke you are right but you are also wrong... it's an obvious spoof of the Graduate.

  • What's the big deal here

  • It was the last advert after a running 'advert series' for Renault. Its amazing cos it plays on the stereotypical relationship between France and Britain. Think you would have to be British to appreciate it.

  • It's just a remake of the Graduate? What's the big deal?

  • vid and bob

  • Yeah, I was given the middle name Nicole because of this advert :|

  • i loved this ad when i was a kid... brings back memories... thanks for uploading! :D

  • Who did the spoof where Papa is kerb crawling hoping to pick up a prostitute when Nicole approaches his car - Nicole? Papa?

  • Would I be right in vaguely remembering a British Rail spoof on Papa & Nicole?

  • Memories...

  • Brill to see it again, and great that Bob gets Nicole instead of Vic!

  • this could be a rumour, but wasnt nicole married to thierri henri?

  • That was Nicole Merry. 'Our' Nicole is Estelle Skornik in real life. See my long-winded comment above.

  • Brilliant! I've been searching for this video for ages! My little Twingo film was inspired by the old Nicole/Papa adverts... take a look!

  • My name is Nicole and everytime I meet someone they always go 'Papa?' It is very annoying lol ^^

  • Papa? sorry, couldn't resist. lol

  • Vic Reeves was convicted of drink driving. Ironic that he should appear in a car advert.

  • thats brings back memories , i wonder what "nicole" is doign these days?

  • I believe she's married to Vic actually.

  • After teaching Young Hornblowwer the facts of life in the TV episode 'Frogs and Lobsters'.Since then she has appeared in many French TV series ( see IMDB).

By the way, does it detract from her charm when I say that, although born in Paris, she is in fact Polish? Not for me. I find no record of her being married, so I still cling nostalically to the Clio girl.
