@deepcosmiclove No, they went off at 7.30am, a fact which I am surprised you do not know given anyone who even bothered to do any basic research on the battle would readily find out. In the middle of summer, daybreak was around 5am, and there is not one piece of evidence to suggest the attack started then.
The ignorance and "pop" lazy history on you tube is astounding. Just read a book and educate yourself.
@THthefirst What is astounding is how generally rude people are on you tube, especially considering yourself. You ought to educate yourself on basic decency.
@deepcosmiclove By the standards of you tube, what I wrote was not rude.
I apologise for any offence caused - that was not my aim - but I do stand by the point that it irritates me when people make statements and claims they hold out to be true - and by implications that others are wrong - when they clearly haven't taken the time to establish even the basic facts about, e.g. the first day of the Somme, like when it started - 7.30am was zero hour on 1 July 1916, daybreak was 3-4am.
@THthefirst Ok thanks I completely accept your apology. You might have simply pointed out to me that at that time of year dawn is @ 4am, a fact I am well familiar with having lived for many years in Berlin. In any case I was thinking about another battle. Best of luck
Why cant war videos like this be more famous. instead you have stupid little kids video taping themselves in their backyards using what little they know from history and military from video games.
good atmospheric video apart from the fact the battle was fought in broad, sunny daylight with a clear blue sky.....
