I love Fantasmic even when things don't go as planned. I just wonder how many failsafes that show has for things not to go right, you could literally see 20 or 30 different incarnations of the same show just for those different failsafe moves! It certainly keeps things interesting!
Also notice from 2:40 to 2:45 Mickey is lowered down at the same speed as the lights. (Hint for the rest of the Fantasmic shows that go on anywhere else)
It did I was at that performance. Today Disney relesed a statement saying the dragon has been removed indefinatly from the show until they can fix the dragon.......again
1. they kept the screens up to block murphy from view of the audience 2. the reason why it stated moveing down slowly is because they can crank it down by hand if they have to and 3. he dident appear at the bottem for his last line at the bottem of the stage because their attemts of getting murphy down in time failed so he couldent appear through the trap door while myrphy whas their
@ipodcrazy1996 its because it is not safe to have anyone on the stage when the dragon broke down or is malfunctioning. They don't know what will/could happen and it is a safety hazard. This wouldn't be so bad if murphy didn't breathe fire.
wasnt mickey suppose to reappear on the stage and disappear? instead he said his last words of the show on top of the wooden house and disappeared. that was another fail, besides the dragon. hahaha. ;)
@puppylover569 I think thats what happens when the lift on the bottom needs to be repaired or Murphy was still there on the stage even though the lights were on Mickey.
Ooooh They Are So Damn Clever I love it! Quick Thinking thats Like when I saw wicked and the Lift did not go up she jumped out of it and ran up to the end of the stage everyone fell on their hands and needs to appear if they where on the ground! under her
thanks for posting this! i talked to one of the former fantasmic stage managers and he told me that this show is all about contingency plans--they have a set list of things to do if _____ goes wrong--they have preconceived a 'plan B' for every imaginable circumstance.
What is so cool about this is just how quickly they can come up with a fix and also just how much control they have over the show. Those of us in theater (I'm a stage manager) we know how difficult it is to change things on the fly like that but they pulled it off almost seamlessly. I didn't even know that they had that much control over every little detail of the show and then kick it back on as if nothing happened at the end. It tells me that they show isn't as computer controlled as thought
it was funner when i saw it because the dragon didnt go down until a little bit after the show, but the first 10 feet were sticking up until like 45 mins after the show or something like that, it was so funny, with the water screens running the whole time.
Haha this footage looks and sounds a lot better on your iPhone than some other videos I have seen. Also it is very neat how fast Disney alters the show with no hesitation. Kudos
i saw this happen in Flordia when the dragon wouldn't go back in. It was funny because a guy just climbed onto it back and started beating it. To bad that wouldn't happen here. Nice video, very funny and smart to use the water screens.
This is really interesting, I notice some of the pyro had problems also, but it's been a few times this alternate ending has been going (without the projections though) and once when Murphy was still in the refixing stages before debuting..Thank god for future refurbishments, Mickey refuses to change costumes cause he needs a break!
This is definitely something. I notice the water screens went down toward the end of Mickey's routine and the dragon was finally gone. This makes me wonder why he stayed on the mill instead of going back onstage? Short notice? Or perhaps part of the dragon was still on stage at that time that was not visible!
He was only just barely lowered fully into the pit by the time Mickey took the stage on the mill, it's likely that because he took that long to get into said pit it was too late to reverse the alternate ending.
@mastromjm Yeah... what DTrigger05 started about the dragon just barely getting down, it would not have been safe for the Mickey to be on stage if something more was to go wrong. Plus the stage manager had probably already called for the back up ending (with Micky on top) so everything was already in place for that.
I truly don't care about the mistakes. Fantasmic is and will always be my favorite show! :D The magic is still there!

it looks like murphy gained too much weight from all the cherous, that could be from taco johns, or from the chilie's baby back ribbs

wow how did they took out murphy on time??? and is that the reason why sorcerer mickey says the last part instead of the originall mickey??

@DucktheGWREngineFan9 Because of the dragon's history of trouble and Murphy's Law ("Everything that can go wrong, will go wrong").
