i played this guitar and the epiphone version....both play pretty bad ...very stiff guitar ..i played a prs se santana that was $2500 cheaper and it blew this guitar away
cool idea but i think the stop tail is one of the best things about a les paul for tuning stability during bends when ur playing chords at the same time.
Sounds great but every time he hits the whammy bar I cringe. I see no purpose for it other than sounding like an 80s throwback. The guitar would be idea with a stoptail bridge like a Les Paul should.
Buy a VOS Paul then. I think there are people who like that 80s stuff or some who just want a reliable vibrato system. The floyd is pretty much the way to go then.
And a lot of people replace their Gibson ABR1 and stoptail, so I see no reason why axcess owners shouldn't mod their floyd to make it sound better.
The stop tail is just more classic. That's why there is a huge variety of STP guitars out there.
I just purchased Gibson Les Paul Axcess and let me tell you, it's an awesome guitar. The Floyd Rose is perfectly set, the action on it is awesome, and that carving on the back for playing high notes is a kick ass feature. The split coil switch is really fun too. Anyone who has criticized it has obviously not played it. Play it first and I dare you to talk shit about it, and if you do then you must have a problem with pride because this ax's greatness is to much to deny.
There's simply a lot of hype behind so many things.
Sure a combination of characteristics make a great guitar, but the tone, you can achieve using a 300 Epiphone if you're using the right pickups and your'e plugged in and set up with a good amp.
Personally I love the Les Paul design but frankly I wouldn't pay more than 2K for any guitar. In the end it's a combination of elements that if you know what you're doing you can get out of many brands if you use the right parts.
its not the guitar its the amazing amp that they dont show you idiots!!!! i can make my shitty ibanez guitar sound just like that using my marshall amp and speakers like come on are you serious!!!!!
@TimStilwell31 that is so stupid!! ur hands have more effect on ur sound than ur amp!!, ur guitar and hands have the biggest influence on ur tone, think the density size wieght of ur hands is different then everyone, so u can the same marshall amp as anyone but sorry ur hands and the wood of gutiar there is only one. oohh and no a shitty guitar sounds shitty no matter what u can tell unless ur def!!ur way off music is a feeling not a physical speaker box sorry kid grow up open ur eyes to music!!
@JilaX obviously if ur guitar sucks and u suck then no shit it is going to sound like shit, that is not the tone!! and second u can hear tone depending on ppl and sorry amp has effect on tone but not like ur hands, take a strat and les paul and standard setting two guitar players no changes made durning test and i guarantee u will hear difference!!!
I dunno, I'd like a normal Les paul with a thinner body and better cut away, I mean I wouldnt buy this because I already have a Schecter Syn with a FR and one FR is enough for me to try and maintain XD
But Gibson would definitely have a lot of my money if they made a les paul similar to this just without the Floyd Rose
@shovakre Just for the record, the Floyd Rose on the Axcess is an option. :-) It normally comes with a tune-o-matic and a stoptail. ;-) Don't remember whether the tune-o-matic is of the ABR-1 or Nashville variant, though, but I suspect the latter. ;-)
@AragornCF I would say most likely the Nashville-style bridge. For the money, I'd do the TonePros substitution myself. Dave Amato and Rickey Medlocke seem to like these with FR's, but man....it's like putting Center Lines and dragslicks on a Duesenberg.
@bowslap I agree with you. I myself have been into the Floyd thing for a long time, but I have sort of left that behind me now since I've started playing Gibsons in 2002. There's just so much more sustain and stability from a fixed bridge. Floyds are cool but they're a pain to set up, and I agree that they don't really belong on a Les Paul. I presume they got the idea from Neil Schon's signature model. That also had a Floyd and a modified neck joint, albeit that it had the thicker body.
lol that guys really dumb. I got the chance to see Journey live in September 09. It was awseome. Schon is a legend. And their new singer ain't that bad either. =)
hell the jeff beck srtat is 3000 , the clapton strat, 3000 . if i was to pay 3000 , for a guitar it would be this gibson, its so bad assthe neck is worth the price alone . MAN I WISH I HAD 3 GRAND
No No No . went to the music shop and spent an hour in the sound booth with this thing. Its paper light , floyd rose catches side of hand , locking nuts catch left hand at the neck , pots buzzed on high volumes , pick ups maby ok for Slash but I dont play like Slash ......I could go on and on but I just didnt like it. Very pissed after driving 200 miles to buy it. Went home with an excellent L.P. Traditional instead and fucking love it . £1000 cheaper too.
gibson has done such a good job making thses axcess guitars! they are sooo amazing. i tried a CUSTOM shop gibson axcess in a music store. best guitar i've ever played!
Blackmore, clapton, beck, they used to play gibsons, they changed because hendrix was kickin' ass with a strat, but hendrix would kicked ass with anything, i miss the les paul sound of clapton and beck
Strat vs paul.... that old debate. once again its all about what type of sound and and music you play. You're not exactly gonna get some serious country twang out of a les paul the way you would get out of a strat or tele....and you're not exactly gonna play tool riffs on a strat. Can you imagine the ventures playing wipe out on les pauls? i don't think so.
@haylkaos Why werent there floyds on Les pauls before? I dont like them of course but surely someone must have had a 'bright' Idea? Or am I missing some iconic detail about gibson?
@MrJackanthony Apparently, don't quote me on this, its hard to put a Floyd rose in a Les Paul without destroying the tone of the mahogany. Although as they have found a way I've gotta agree its surprising they took this long.
@haylkaos Actually, that and the cutaway are the FIRST good idea's gibson's conceded to in a looooooooong time. They should start a whole series for their other rock models like ....
Gibson's sound great with distortion but play them clean and they sound like 1000's of others!! Strats are much more versatile - probably why Eric Clapton, David Gilmour, Jeff Beck, Richie Blackmore, SRV, Jimi Hendrix, Eric Johnson, Mark Knofler, Yngwie Malmsteen, Hank Marvin, Buddy Guy and thousands of others play them!!
@ScrumptiousStrat i have to disagree with that statement. Dont get me wrong i love strats but les paul's dont sound like 1000's of others, i find them to sound much different and better then all others and very versatile, look at Zakk Wylde, Slash, Joe Bonamassa, Jeff Beck, Buckethead, Billie Joe, Gary Moore. Honestly Zakk Wylde, a crazy metal man, then Joe Bonamassa, and Slash, all those sounds with a les paul... i dont see how they arent versatile.
Let's face it, trems on a Les Pauls may sound like a good idea, but being the neck and body are mahogany (a softer wood), all that pressure on them when using the trem are SURE to weaken the neck joint in a hurry! Gibby's need neck adjustments all the time, and this is a guaranteed nightmare!
@peligrojandro95 You can put in any pickups you want, but in order to have humbucker-to-single-coil or series-to-parallel switching, the pickup has to have 4-conductor wiring. Most Seymour Duncan passive humbuckers and DiMarzios come with 4-conductor wiring, and so do Gibson's aftermarket pickups (but often not the ones installed in the guitars themselves!). EMGs wouldn't work because they require special switches/wiring.
You can, but imo the eclipse is a les paul copy. If you're going to play a les paul, play a real one. If you want a strat, buy a strat. Just the way I look at it. I never found any copy guitar better than the classic. Even james hetfield will constantly play his lp custom.
just because its origional doent make it the best gibsons quality on there guitars has droped dramaticly in the last years a eclispe is better 24fret neck is something gibson rarely does and they rarely have emgs and look how much it is just to have one with a floyd gibson is a overpriced company that loses sales every year many les paul copies actualy sound better than gibson like i seen a 379.99 agile sound better than a 2299.99 les paul this is really sad when cheap sounds better than gibson
saw one here in Aus, was about to take it off the shelf to have a go... then I saw the $8500AUS price tag.... my motorbike cost me $6000 new... i mean seriously, its getting ridiculous... a hunk of wood with gibson on the neck worth more than a huge bit of machinery
Yeah, it's absolutely overpriced. Like I said, you could get a les paul classic for half the price on ebay or something. This guitar ain't worth 3500 USD, but neither is the custom les paul. People will pay it thought.
well I still want one, even though he just died, what better way to pay tribute to the guy than to appreciate the design that he worked so hard to produce
I think he would be sad if people stopped buying the guitar after he passed, just my 2c
It probably so expensive because it's actually a Gibson custom guitar and it's the fuckin labor that goes into les pauls that make them so expensive and kills us consumers. I know it kills us cause a Gibson Les Paul has been my dream guitar since I started playing about 3 and a half years ago.
Looks and sounds fantastic but does it REALLY need to be $3500? Really? Come on, Gibson. $2000 is reasonable for a Les Paul of this caliber and you know it!
I got a 57 LP that I love. Its very heavy and i wouldnt trade it for anything but this thing would be a great "hot rod" companion to my buddy old school
I think this guitar is awesome. It's my dream guitar. the only thing i would change about it is the pickups, maybe some 57 classics or burstbucker pros, or both! Despite what most people say, i like most the new stuff gibson puts out. i dont like the darkfire or robot guitars, but stuff like the new standard and the traditional are awesome. this guitar is sweet!
i love the classic look, but im glad you can get a floyd rose on an lp now, ive wanted a guitar with a good trem on it, it makes a classic alot more versatile
Dave Amato Rocks. I'm sold. I bought my LP Axcess today after watching Dave in this video. Great job Dave.

vic80895 2 years ago
When he was just about to say "twangy", I was thinking exactly the same word.
Although I haven't played one of these, it is a dream come true. I've always said, Gibson should hook up with Floyd Rose on a Les Paul and this is it.

gibsonguitarman222 2 years ago
faggots! why can you talk about wanting this guitar when les paul just died?!?! talk about him not about wanting a new guitar
andr3wbr1an 2 years ago
Well, i think you are the "faggot" here, because nobody said anything about wanting the guitar AFTER his dead.
Silkroad773 2 years ago 2
well I still want one, even though he just died, what better way to pay tribute to the guy than to appreciate the design that he worked so hard to produce
I think he would be sad if people stopped buying the guitar after he passed, just my 2c

It's a fantastic guitar. i have the black model.

my dream guitar would be this thing in a silverburst finish
Pooxer 2 years ago
they have that.
Rocket1771 2 years ago
It probably so expensive because it's actually a Gibson custom guitar and it's the fuckin labor that goes into les pauls that make them so expensive and kills us consumers. I know it kills us cause a Gibson Les Paul has been my dream guitar since I started playing about 3 and a half years ago.

the design is very nice in comparison to other les pauls but i don't see why people would buy this. : /

yey! floyd rose+les paul=happy fun time, but whys it so fuckin expensive
RockwithaVengance 2 years ago 2
floyd looks weird on lp
ebalvsehvrot 2 years ago
Looks and sounds fantastic but does it REALLY need to be $3500? Really? Come on, Gibson. $2000 is reasonable for a Les Paul of this caliber and you know it!
EscpdFrmPsykward 2 years ago 2
What! I would take a goddamn Tokai ls125 and put an ibanez lo pro edge in it. Not that im dumb enough to put a floyd in a les paul!
Mahavishnu80 2 years ago
love it.
kingdong001 2 years ago
well some ppl shud know that economy is still crappy so we better wait till it gets better then lets go buy a gibson XD love it
stumbot 2 years ago
Should be a great guitar. Playing on the high frets is a pain with the heal sticking out. The rose will be great to.

I got a 57 LP that I love. Its very heavy and i wouldnt trade it for anything but this thing would be a great "hot rod" companion to my buddy old school

a les paul was the first guitar to have a floyd rose on it y are you guys bitching
tylersinger2 2 years ago
how do you know that?
AaronAddicottMusic 2 years ago
I'm almost completely sure you're wrong.
I'm betting a Floyd Rose guitar would be the first with a Floyd Rose on it.
Umaiketsu 2 years ago 4
I think this guitar is awesome. It's my dream guitar. the only thing i would change about it is the pickups, maybe some 57 classics or burstbucker pros, or both! Despite what most people say, i like most the new stuff gibson puts out. i dont like the darkfire or robot guitars, but stuff like the new standard and the traditional are awesome. this guitar is sweet!
stratsnpauls 2 years ago 3
Anyone else think they made this as sort of an inspiration from Neal Schon's signature? The recessed Floyd, the neck, the Push/Pull Pot?
housemandoc23 2 years ago 2
You can get it without the Floyd as well, but I do suppose if you take away the signature bit, it'll make it cheaper. Maybe by not a lot, but still.
Oh well.
sooperkula 2 years ago
cant imagine it can sound any original with a thinner body, i mean, isnt a gibson not for guys who exactly dont want that?!
filerocktheworld 2 years ago
Not sure what you guys are upset about....It's better than cutting a perfect Les Paul to install a Floyd Rose.
This is great. Because I was think about buying a Music man or EVH Wolf
I have a 1973 LP Custom Fretless Wonder Copy. This would be great to have with the Floyd with out giving up the Paul.
6dodge9 2 years ago 4
i love the classic look, but im glad you can get a floyd rose on an lp now, ive wanted a guitar with a good trem on it, it makes a classic alot more versatile

it's a must to have a gibson?! Where should i have the money xD? :(
;)
gunsnrosesfan888 2 years ago
its probably a fantastic guitar but what everyone loves about gibson les paul is that old classic look and sound
gibson is lowering the standards, two modern..darkfire is like shit, takes out the fun of playng and this new axcess just aint les paul..

Thats a good one, like who Synyster Gates? Schecter is just another company that makes low end metal guitars.
And no, I'm not a Gibson Fanboy.
