A first-generation American expressed disbelief when told that welfare, medi-cal, subsidies, etc. cost his fellow-taxpayers real dollars. He assumed "the government" just prints more money! That is the same mind-boggling thinking that "taxes the corporations, not the consumers." Where do corporations get their money? And what do they do if they are not making a profit to pay stockholders? Can we stop playing games about where government money comes from?

we have "Corporate Carbon Tax" in Europe, they got the emission certificates for free, and then stated adding the carbon tax on consumer products & energy costs .... and they have not reduced emissions one bit, no the carbon emissions are rising by 7% per year and they are trading the certificates for even more profits on a public disclosed corporate market in LONDON .... wake up people!

B. He specifically stated the he wasn't taxing the consumers. He is taxing the corporations. Europe has been taxing carbon for years and I'm pretty sure they haven't reverted to the stone age. The technology for 50 mpg cars already exists, companies just need motivation to make them that they aren't getting from the type of ignorant, complacent people so beautifully portrayed in the previous comments.

A. Okay every 6th grader knows that plants breath carbon dioxide, but to react as if corporations that spew carbon dioxide into the air are helping the environment is retarded. Yes plants breath carbon dioxide, but the extra carbon in the air traps heat in the atmosphere, changing weather patterns. No rain, no plants.

He wants to tax me and my car for producing CO2.. when CO2 in all actuality helps the environment by increasing vegetation growth, therefore releasing more oxygen into the air, and the cycle goes on and on. Global warming is caused by the sun entering a solar maxim, even the temperature on other planets are increasing aswell. If the sun continues to rise in magnetic activity for the next few years, it will eventually appear twice as bright in our skies than it is now.

The ambient level of CO2 in the earth's atmosphere is between 300 and 600 ppm. Plants receive far more water and sunshine than they can use. Increasing CO2 lets the plant use the excess water and energy that is stored in the leaves. The result is a large increase in the growth rate. The CO2 level that is recommended is 1000 to 2000 PPM.
