  • very interested in becoming a 6g certified pipe welder

  • @MrBdubski69 You should!

  • ive been hearing alot about shipyards adopting fcaw for almost everything including pipe, i used to work in a fab plant where we migged and core wire welded low pressure pipe, since it wasnt code a full pen. root was not required but i would often practice at it with little success. do you guys know much about wire welding pipe to code?

  • @UniteForgetLeftRight I personally don't know very much about wire welding codes. I haven't run ANY wire for about seven years now. I know some of the pre fabricated spool pieces coming out of shops are done with a Mig root then finished with FCAW. From what I understand to get a good root with Mig you have to take your space a little wider and have no land on the bevel edge. I've never personally done it though.

  • how do i keep coming back to this video?

  • @rrrtbds12223 I dunno but I'm glad you do! Check out my other Welding videos if you get a chance!

  • @xAZAZELx13 ok ill watch them all.

  • i got a lincoln 1958

short hood, and im planning going out to the pipelines do you guys think is a good idea to take the short hood or just buy a new one. plus just bought a truck 2007 dodge but i was woundering if it was worth putting a flat bed one it, and how hard would it be to built one.

  • @zurenoloko I'm pretty sure the Lincoln you described would be just fine on the Pipeline. I would recommend getting a proper Welding Deck for your truck. Search around on the internet. There's tons of places that manufacture them in all kinds of configurations.

  • hey what job was that? was that that 12 inch in fort nelson? i recognize some of thoes trucks

  • @heiner1220 This is in Manitoba. Some of the guys may have been up in the Fort Nelson area at some point.

  • is there a career in welding were you dont have to be gone more than a week like maybe be gone from home a couple days at a time whata bout with pg&e??please message me with info anyone!

  • @MrStryperfan Anythings possible. I used to work small jobs where you only work for a couple of days. Most Plant Site Shutdowns.

    What's "PG&E???"

  • Comment removed

  • @MrStryperfan Oh. That I have no idea about.

  • @MrStryperfan Oh oops could you answer my questons bout pg&e? I was wondering if you can weld for them but not be away from home for a month maybe be away for a couple days or whats a job with pg&e that would do that and il still work with my hands not some office job

  • @MrStryperfan I've never even heard of "PG&E" before. I have no idea where they work or what kind of work they do. My advice would be to pick up the phone and call them yourself.

  • @xAZAZELx13 alright thank you

  • @MrStryperfan Best of luck to you!

  • @xAZAZELx13 ive tried to contact pg&e from there site but i cant find anywhere to contact them for career choices

  • @MrStryperfan Maybe contact them?

  • @xAZAZELx13 it just tells about there program if u wana look it up type in butte college welding and its a 8 min video

  • @MrStryperfan I'm not going to look it up. I just don't understand why you're having so much trouble contacting them.

  • @xAZAZELx13 becuase the do alot of electrician work like for power sortages but whenever i find a number for them its for a power sortage incident

  • @MrStryperfan I Googled them out of sheer curiosity and found the career section on their website in literally 10 seconds. Contacting them should be easy for you but for some reason it's not. I don't really know what else to tell you.

  • @xAZAZELx13 iunderstand how easy it seems its just i cant find a number for concacting about careers ive read all the info on there site i just had some other questions that i couldnt find on there site

  • @MrStryperfan Well best of luck to you! I hope you can find a job you enjoy.

  • @xAZAZELx13 thanks

  • canada saskatchewan

  • @junghoon79 It should be EASY for you to get a job as a Welders Helper. Put an add up on Kijiji saying you want to be a helper.

  • @xAZAZELx13 thanks for the tips but i am currently working for production line welding company and not desperate by any means.. are you still working for pipeline crew?

  • @junghoon79 I sure am! More videos to come soon!

  • @xAZAZELx13 how much do they pay you if you dont mind me asking i am only getting 27 bux here

  • @junghoon79 27 bucks an hour is about the average rate for a Journeyman working in a Shop. A B-Pressure Welder with his own Rig gets a contract rate of around 85-110 per hour depending on where your working and who your working for. What the Welder gets paid personally is up to him/her to decide.

  • i would love to do that for living how can i get a job there?

  • @junghoon79 This Pipeline is finished and in the ground.

  • @xAZAZELx13 aww thats cool i just want to get into more stick welding

  • @junghoon79 What country do you live in?

  • do you guys grind between one pass to the other? why dont i ever see you all clean or girnd when stopping and starting agian?...is it not necessary? isnt there a chance of busting x-rays doing that?... just wondering?

  • @gilberto83 The Bead is ground down before the Hot Pass. Each subsequent pass is cleaned with a wire wheel and ground where appropriate.

  • 6010 for bead and hot pass and 7010 for fillers????....is this right? what is the most common "hand motion" when welding 7010 downhill?... side to side, circles...or do u guys just drag the rod?

  • @gilberto83 6010 down hand bead and 7010 down hand fill and cap. "Hand Motion" is really a matter of personal preference. However you can get it done without any repairs!

  • @gilberto83 what does "busting xrays" mean?

  • @madjimms He means getting repairs or weld defects. Each weld is x-rayed to insure quality.

  • И с первого раза видимо всем слабо)

  • @VitalyU10 Thanks for the comment but I don't understand what you're saying.

  • Труба кривая какаето получилась) хаха

  • @VitalyU10 Sorry I don't speak that language.

  • @xAZAZELx13

He says a good job, well you cope with the welding work.

  • @SDFmacrossSDF Who said that???

  • is Cytoflex?

  • @MrOrsoabbracciatutti I have no idea what that is.

  • fuck yeah stovings the shit!!

  • @Mr61849 I've never heard of this "Stoving" term before.

  • How much do these guys make a year? I'm very curious

  • @24yamaharider The Company the Welder works for makes an unspecified amount of money each year. The amount a Company makes is directly proportionate to how much work it gets during a fiscal year. What the Welder actually gets paid personally is governed by the pay agreement between the Welder and the Welding Company.

  • @xAZAZELx13 So basically, the more work the company does, the more they make? Thanks for the info,

  • @24yamaharider Basically yes. Unless the Welder works on Salary. In that case the Company makes more money. I don't have an exact dollar figure of what these guys make.

But basically the more work you do the more money you get. Pretty simple concept if you think about it.

  • Is all pipe welded downhand /stoved out in Canada ? we always weld vertical up in the UK .I suppose it is easier to weld downhand .

  • @M1XXMATT All overland Pipelines in Canada are welded Downhand as per Pipeline Code.

  • I'm blind!

  • @beeferetown LOL! Thanks for watching!!!

  • @leoffensive Get on it bro! That would be a kool job!

  • I need to learn how to wield... I know the basics of mig/tig but I have months of practice to do..

  • @daddyoca69 Practice, practice, practice. It's the only way to learn!

  • Thay looken for welders i bin welding high pres. For more then ten years tssa. Do thay put a 6010 core and 7018 filler and cap?

  • @mohawksniper79 6010 root and 7010 fill and cap downhand.

  • So how many feet can you guys lay on a good day? Do they xray any of those welds? My buddy is a pipefitter and he does hydronic heat and boilers and shit. On his jobs they weld anything over 2" . The inspector picks a handful of welds to xray. If one of those does not pass then he will check every connection on the job.

  • @jsrscbr We do just over 2km of pipe a day and it's 100% X-ray. Pretty much all underground pipelines are 100 X-ray or 100 UT (Ultrasonic Test). Many fabrication jobs are percentage jobs where they only X-ray a certain amount of welds.
