  • Who did the subtitles? Someone who doesn't understand English?

  • Actually Pat agrees with their positions, he just thinks that their positions are too far right to win the general election. I guess Cenk didn't listen to the initial anecdote Pat gave on LBJ.

  • Now, this is good comedy!

  • I'll amend my last comment... The subtitles are inaccurate through the whole video... half of them don't even make sense when read alone.

  • Whoever translated what is said in the first 10 seconds to text is an idiot...

  • Pat Robertson -

“How to Participate in a Political Party”

“Rule the world for God.” “Give the impression that you are there to work for the party, not push an ideology. “Hide your strength. “Don't flaunt your Christianity.

“Christians need to take leadership positions. Party officers control political parties and so it is very important that mature Christians have a majority of leadership whenever possible, God willing.”

    DON'T BE FOOLED

  • "Are there no bounds to far far right they will go?"

They might not start using swastikas..?

  • hell froze over? no wonder it's been snowing so much

  • @FlyinSpaghettiMnstr7 Hell Froze over due to Global Warming

  • Who are you and what have you done with Pat Robertson!?!?.....good. Thank you. No, don't let him out.

  • Obama did a good job at hiding his true feelings during the election run-up, these Republicans could learn a thing or two.

  • ....and Michele Bachmann has to tell Herman Cain he's an idiot.

  • LMAO

  • When Pat Robertson says your too extreme your doing something wrong

  • Republicans are a cancer in the body of America.

  • To be fair to Pat Robertson, I think he is actually saying that Republican campaign strategy is flawed, not their ideology- that they should tone it down only until they are elected- as Bush did during 2000

  • @muetter Nice analysis. You could be right. Man, if the republican front runners are holding back their Christian crazy the best they can till their elected, imagine how insane they really are.

  • don't listen to Pat, GOP. He's trying to trick you into re-electing the anti-colonial Indonesian Kenyan Secret Muslim Jeremiah Wright Acolyte Domestic Terrorist Socialist Fascist Barack Hussein Obama!

  • So the republicans are too close to sounding like the kkk now?(They weren't there before?) They weren't racist dick head assholes before? Herman Caine walks in the door and all of a sudden the south never said the N word?

Holy shit! Doctor Who changed history again! Guess I can't tell any jokes about redneck southerners anymore. (Who, If I don't write this too late- are ALL INBREED REDNECK IDIOTS, who should probably go get their babies away from those damn alligators?) Is Bristol Palin leading?

  • @hevyAccel Doctor Who for President 2012.

  • @hevyAccel If YOU knew anything about HISTORY, you would realize the KKK was a democratic organisation. The democrats only altered their stance on segregation/race when it suited them i.e. to get the black vote. Thats the thing with the democrats they have no fixed agenda, just appeal to whichever mob is out there. Republicans are for order, realism and morality, that is why George Washington, James Madison, Abraham Lincoln and Ronald Reagan were republicans, not the KKK Grand Wizard.

  • @MrEnlighteneddespot And If you apply your label, not one single founding father would look at the republican party with anything less than contempt. Fuck the KKK. If you applied todays standards, Washington, Lincoln, etc would be so far into the democrats side, you'd be upset over gay sex again.

Republican = Racist red neck dirt farmer!

  • @hevyAccel Also, Reagan was actually a terrible president.

If you want to be a half whit, join the republican party. If you want to be a dumb-ass know nothing - vote for a republican party candidate (If you ever learned how to spell)

  • @hevyAccel Reagan was a terrible President? If thats the case, I would'nt know how to describe Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton and Obama. Reagan solved Americas debt crisis, ended the Cold war and stood for tradition, order and morality- I would understood you not liking him if your an ex-Soviet spy or brothel attender? Anyway, why accuse me of not knowing how to spell?!?!

  • @hevyAccel Yes I'm sure Lincoln would love to party with todays Democrats, considering them being the shining beacon for abortionists, divorcee's, sodomites, liars, radicals and disordered mobsters. Maybe Americas fore-fathers would be a bit upset with todays Republicans, and I admit that the likes of Rick Perry, Bachmann or Palin are hardly genius', but to imply that would be a cause for men of Christian faith and traditional stances to side with a group as secular as the democrats is a lie.

  • Cha-sus. When Pat Robertson is giving you accurate political analysis you know you're screwed.

  • Watch the clip again. Pat Robertson isn't saying he thinks the candidates are too extreme. He is saying they are being too OPEN about it. The LBJ quote is the key. basically, I'm on your side but if you make me go to far to prove it we will lose the election and then I can't help our cause.

  • I bet many of you dont know why we are constantly at war. Its not just the military industrial complex, but the government ITSELF that keeps us at war. During war times the government has more power. That's why we are always at war.

  • Pat Robertson really needs to start taking his medication he is off his rocker his handlers really need to pull him off the air he is out of touch with everything.

  • When even Pat Robertson knows you are too far to the right for the general public, run like hell to the left as far and fast as you possibly can......

  • Hahaha Fantastic can not stop laughing, beautiful

  • Pat Robertson is one of the people he criticized.

  • Oh fuck, there is something I agree on with Pat Robertson.

  • TYT Modus Operandi #91: Try to de-legitimize a certain group or person. But if that group or person says something to support your point, then use what they say as if it's true.

For years, TYT discredits everything Robertson says. Then when he says this, use it to prove the political spectrum has shifted.

BTW, TYT does this with "Mainstream Media" as well. They say how shitty and unrealiable the reporting is. Then they use their reporting or stories to prove another point they're making

  • @hofifut ---

The whole deal of using Pat Robertson to prove this point in the first place is that he is thought by TYT to be a wacko.

    .

If they took some random university-educated guy and wanted his views and he said the U.S Republican presidential candidates were extreme, it wouldn't have the same effect.

It's the same with Glenn Beck leaving Fox "News".

  • @hofifut Yeah, I hate when republicans do that. They claim Obama is horrendous, until he says something they like. Then all of a sudden, they use his statements as justification. You and I are both disgusted with this tactic!

  • When the republican party is "too extreme" for this nut then it's time to really dismantle the entire thing! Also, look back at the 1988 and '92 primaries--- it was Pat Robertson who was pushing hardest for the republican candidates to become more extreme!!!

  • Too late Pat. Ever since the GOP took over the House & saying No, it woke the people up and taking it to the streets a.k.a. Occupy Wall Street.

  • You know you dun goofed when PAT MOTHERFUCKING ROBERTSON thinks you're too right-wing.

  • He is more for the Repubicans and he want them to win but is will not happen because the American voter are getting smart.

  • he's obviously going senile

  • Am I hearing this right? Pat Robertson?! That's just...wow...

  • Good 'ol Pat you can always count on him to stick his bible in his mouth when everyone else is chews on a textbook. He was invited to speak at a Christian science conference with then president Clinton, and while they were talking about how to teach every aspect of science while not discounting religion all together. He proposed that all science classes be taught at home while the subjects of "Math" and "Church" be learned at SCHOOL! He has not been invited back.

  • bleh, Pat R. isn't saying they are too far right he is saying don't force them to air how far right they are publicly. BIG DIFFERENCE CENK!

  • he is ashamed of his party but doesn't disagree with their philosophy

  • Pat Robertson is panicking!!! He's scared shit! Because of the weak sauce candidates the GOP has!! That was refreshing to see him squirm and cry like a little bitch!! Pat Robertson is so far to the right, that even by the far rights standards, he even more to the far right!!

  • Hmm, Pat Robertson giving logical advice to the Republicans, A for effort; He's still a jerk though.

  • Pat Robertson fucks little boys

  • Even a blind squirrel find his nuts once in a while.

  • Pat must have stopped eating his age-defying pancakes. He's starting to make Andy Rooney look like a youngster.

  • Wait, did I just get closer to pat robertson on the political spectrum?!

  • Does Robertson have reverse Alzheimer's? Is he actually getting sane in his old age?

  • What we have here is a rare lucid moment from Mr. Robertson. Bravo sir, bravo.

  • Robertson just wants the Rep. candidates to keep their mouths shut until one of them gets elected and are able to impliment their agenda.

  • Robertson's just pointing out the fact that ya gotta do what Obama did.

Say what the general public likes, and after winning THEN you go to the extremes you wanted to do in the first place.

It's called a sucker punch. Works in every election.

  • Some one check the temperature In Hell !!!

  • You can only hide what you are for so long. The heat of this election is going to un-cover all of the bullshit, and people are going to have to stand on their positions. Will people vote for Medicare being abolished? Will people support the rich paying no taxes? Will massive cuts in education sit well with students? Will racism and intolerance, anti gay and sexist views be the new order of the day?? Will a regressive agenda be what America wants?? These are the issues that people will vote on.

  • @nagone11 George Lakoff: "Moral Politics." youtube it, watch it, you will see why that is not always the case.

  • @snowbaordguru Ohh it's the case my friend.

  • @nagone11 What you don't realize is the importance of framing the argument. People don't vote on policy, they vote on emotion. That's why the big policy issues are not raised in presidential campaigns. Instead they talk about religion or family values. Or something else as equally irrelevant.

  • @snowbaordguru ...oh yeah....wait and see how people will vote when medicare is going to be abolished, and when collective bargaining gets thrown off the table as it has so far. People are all saying how much they hate Obama, but he still out-polls each repub individually. I've been around the block son, don't underestimate what is going on is all that i will say for now.

  • @nagone11 Having been around the block with blinders on will not help you. History tells all. Look into what Frank Luntz does (creator of the phrase "ObamaCare" and "HillaryCare." All we can do is wait and see, there is no way to test this right away. Other than historical by markers.

  • @snowbaordguru...Son...i have been involved and watching politics for a very long time now and i know the political trends and basically how we think. When the people get past the fear and crazy talk by the far right, people are going to have to make a decision. Religion will not be it, nor will some of the other bullshit that has made alot of waves. People will look at jobs, heathcare and education at the end of the day. Incumbents are tough to beat and the earliest frontrunners are 1st losers!

  • @nagone11 Union members only make up about 30% of the population. To reach the other 70% they will have to *frame* their argument very carefully to reach a broader base. I cannot stress enough how the language of the issues will direct votes. We see now, how republicans will/have use/used language when it comes to unions and medicare. The democrats poll on policy, run on said policy and loose most of the time. The Republicans poll words to *frame* policy and run on the emotion the words induce.

  • @snowbaordguru , the Repubs haven't done shit in Congress but block and complain. Too much negative always hurts, they have no positive message game but get Obama out. To put in who?? What will be done about jobs?? Healthcare?? Education?? People will vote on this, the real question is will the young 18-29 year old demographic come out? If they do the dems stay in the Whitehouse.

  • @nagone11 Time will tell. I was merely hypothesizing. We both make valid points.

  • Wow, when even Pat Robertson says you've gone off the deep end, you're in big trouble. Its not that Robertson doesn't support the "extreme" views, its just that he wants the candidates to hide those "extreme" views until they are elected, i.e, lie better. The one benefit of the Tea Party is that it has exposed the radical Right's influence in the Republican party and their true regressive agenda. Its always been their, just well hidden.

  • @rocky19421 Don't worry, they will learn and lie just like Obama to get elected and do completely opposite of what they promised.

  • Pat Robertson has had an epiphany that his own religion is crazy

  • toads are falling from the sky.

  • Daily Show nailed this... Robertson's saying that he KNOWS his horseshit is too extreme, and they should keep quiet about it and just do it.

  • Pat Robertson has some common sense in his old age.

  • Okay, who are you and what have you done with Pat Robertson?!?

  • I think it's great to hear a far right nut basically admitting that his politics are unpalatable to the US as a whole. Wonderful.

  • mh sounded different to me, he is not to liberal for the republican party, he's just afraid the average rightwing voter will be shooed away.

  • First smart thing I heard from this crazy coo coo.

  • Excuse me a moment. I need to pick my jaw up off of my feet.

  • Robertson has become a liberal. He's now saying it is ok to leave your spouse for having Alzheimer.

  • @ChristianMission

Firstly, if your spouse will leave you because you have Alzheimer, you obviously choose to wrong spouse and if he will do something like that, who know what he will do if the government force him/her to be with you when you can't take care of yourself.

  • @ChristianMission I don't see how that makes him a liberal. As far as I'm aware, divorce isn't illegal anywhere for any reason.

  • Pat never said he personally thought that the party was too much to the right.

  • Wow...for once Pat Robertson actually sounds like a reasonable human being. I think hell just froze over.

  • Comment removed

  • Pat robertson I though that tjos guy was saruman the white

  • Who's most extreme:

Michelle "yay i can breathe co2 cus its harmless" Bachmann

Glenn "10% of moslems are terrorist" Beck

Pat "Christians don't believe in the walking dead" Robertson.

  • @underbjorn Lol. Hard to choose :) Personally, Bachmann's zany anti-science position on everything, when they're the experts and she's not, is my choice. She's 100% grade-A lunatic.

  • i believe mccain lost because he got too extreme

  • @EyEnOtgAy

Mccain lost mainly because Palin was an idiot.

To be honest, I think Mccain knows what he is doing and there are many things I respect for the guy but the chance that he might die in his term and that a maddog like Palin is his VP, I am just not going to risk it. Like what Damon says, Palin being the VP is like a really bad disney movie, it is just absurd.

  • getting spending down to pre-2000 levels is extreme?

  • It sounds to me like he agrees with the extreme positions, though. He just recognizes on a practical level that they render the candidates unelectable.

Still, for Robertson to say "too extreme" in any context is surprising.

  • Actually there is ONE thing I agree on with Pat Robertson. He and Al Sharpton have joined Al Gores "We Can Solve It" campaign to stop global warming. That's about it.

  • Guess what. In a matter of a few days, the Tea Party will call Pat Robertson a socialist.

  • no poop, Pat.

  • Hey GOP! Pat freakin Robertson thinks you guys have gone to far. What does that tell you?

  • fascist zionist new world order is here to stay.

  • In spite of the nut job that Robertson is, he's correct on this one. Americans reject both GOP & Dem platforms. Ron Paul is the only candidate who's not only widening his already wide base but is also deepening it. He's the only candidate that has a plan to restore our liberty, justice & prosperity. Don't be misled by the MSM, judge his uncorrupted ideals for yourself & then open yourself up to the notion that perhaps this is the leader that the 99% are hungering for. Resist & OCCUPY!

  • this guy seems smart ..seriously

  • "May be too extreme"

Okay Americans, I will say this once: ORLY???

    .

I am fairly amused by the profession of Televangelist you have in your country, sounds like a great deal of fun, because the old man doesn't seem to hurt anybody with his nonsense.

    .

The U.S political far-right on the other hand is directly operating on an agenda of mayhem, death and immiseration.

But I must readily admit that I have never been so amused by a political campaign like the U.S-Republican presidential contest.

  • Comment removed

  • Nope! Let the repubics keep shooting themselves in the foot! Let the GOP loonies keeping blaming Obama for every fuckin thing...obstructing the whole process...keep it up assholes! Obama 2012

  • Comment removed

  • Who is this guy and what did he do to the real Pat Robinson?

  • Honestly, this doesn't surprise me at all. I'm rather conservative myself, yet our political system has been pushed so far to the right over the last several years that I stopped supporting Republican ideals years ago. In fact, things have gone so far to the right that I cannot even support Democrats, as even THEY are too conservative for me!

So yeah, I'm not surprised at all at Pat Robertson's statement.

    Big Brother is here folks....

  • Comment removed

  • Love ya Cenk, but you're completely wrong on this one. Pat AGREES with the Repub candidates (he's even farther right on social issues), but just wishes they'd shut their mouths. Watch the Daily Show from the other night if you want a great take on this.

  • @SoaringTrumpet gotta agree with you, he's not saying he disagrees with him he's saying they won't win the election with their extremist right-wing campaign strategy

  • I think Pat Robertson is not looking at the big picture here...

The positions of the Republican candidates just seem extreme when compared to Obama. They are in fact centrists. They only look extreme right when compared to Obama.

We all know for a fact Obama is extreme left, he is a Socialist, Marxist, Communist and Islamist. So by comparison everyone looks extreme right...

    (LOL)

  • @JMFytube this is a joke post right..I assume so with the big LOL in parentheses..lol

  • @uncthebest2005

Don't assume anything... Is it a joke? You tell me, it depends on who's reading!

You know perfectly well there are those who think Obama is is a Socialist, Marxist, Communist and Islamist (whatever all those words mean for them), and won't read my comment as a joke :)

  • If Pat Robertson said he was liberial, I think 2012 is jsut next year.

  • Did anyone check if Hell froze over?

  • i think Pat is saying that constituents are pushing extreme-right issues and putting Republican nominees in a tight situation. Not that people are further right than him. Just that people need to be more strategy-conscious and help their noms out by staying quiet.

  • Well he doesn't seem to disagree with the extremeness he's just smarter than them and know that it will lose them the election. Tactics

  • This is like Jeffrey Dahmer, The Green River Killer or BTK calling you a "sicko". You KNOW you're fucked up when a psycho thinks you're too crazy.

  • Holy shit...Pat Robertson is talking sense!!! Shut Up PAT!!!! You let them run their campaigns the way they see fit!!!

  • Well, with Robertson being what he is, I'd say he knows those candidates are assholes because it takes one to know one.

  • That's how you know this country is fucked.

  • I wonder if he thinks the Birther, Perry and his Nig-gerhead Ranch is too extreme?

  • I did not see that one comming, noooo

  • Actually, Robertson is not saying that the GOP is too right wing for his taste. He is just being pragmatic and saying that the general electorate will not tolerate this level of right wing extremism, and it only appeals to a small portion of the base. What is saying is that the GOP has to play the "moderate game" and then, when they are in office, fulfill the extreme right wing agenda that he perfectly approves us. Robertson just disagrees with PUBLICIZING extremism.

  • Pat Robertson calling a political party too extreme is like Adolf Hitler complaining that the American KKK is too racist. Its just hilariously ironic.

  • Pat Robertson:

"I may believe in an imaginary dude in the sky, but these republicans are bat shit insane!"

  • counter productive.....just like everything else republicans do??

  • Reminds me of the KKK protesting the Westboro Baptists Church LOL

  • Wow,... just,.. wow! That's like Elton John saying your outfit looks gay..

  • Dear Pat Robertson please die already your make me sick to my stomach.. Thank you,

  • i hope caine gets picked for the rep.s just because all the hardcore rep.s here in texas all said when b-rock was running "i would never vote for a nigger!" lol, so if it's him maybe all those asshole will stay out of the election!

  • Just goes to show - even a right-wing nutbag has scruples....Go figure.

  • As a Democrat.....I will vote for Cain in the primaries because he is a clown.

  • Die already old man! God is waiting for you?

  • Well I've never bought in to that end of the world nonsense. Yet when Pat Robertson says something that makes sense, I feel that the world may just be coming to an end after all. Then I remember how bat shit crazy he is and move on.

  • Very funny that Roberson suddenly knows what he is talking about because he said something liberals agree with. I guess he is no longer crazy.

  • @ultim4t32 Even a raving lunatic can make sense once in a while. And just to note, I am not commenting on Mr Robertson's state of mind in any way, shape or form.

  • I'm just surprised Robertson didn't blame "the gays" for the GOP going insane.

  • OH MY FUCKING GOD

Pat Robertson is correct about something.

  • He's referring to Cain saying abortion should be up to the family ;D

  • @aaronpolitical you dumbass republican troll, shut the FUCK UP

  • Good political advice from a religious icon... how utterly refreshing. When logic is coming from religion, once must seriously question their stance.

  • You know you're a right-wing extremist lunatic if Pat Robertson calls you too extreme.

  • He is not saying that they are wrong, he is saying, "whoa whoa, dont tell the we are that extreme".

  • Whether everyone votes Democrat, or everyone votes Republican, the right wing wins. There is no left wing.

  • @busboysanalogy did ya every think in your life time you would utter those words....Pat Robertson is right... lol

  • Oh please, Robertson is just as extreme and just as loony as Buchanan.

  • All you Democrats can talk all the shit you want about Republicans but at the end of the day, your candidate is just as big a sellout to wall street.

  • @Jackthemeat yeah well he may seem that way to you rightwingers * i am assuming this becuase your vision is narrow due to the hoods and the burning crosse ya hold in your had limit your vision* but in the end of the day our canidate is hellava more logical vs your old saggy balls and vagina ones who not only sellout to wallstreet but cup the balls of the institution itself whilst saying jesus told them to do it. So I hurumphhh you SIRRRRRRRR (*sticks tongue out*)

  • @BlackMambakins

you Fucking JackAss ! Are you smoking crack?? did you even read your comment before pressing post? Im a progressive that leans heavily to the Left. Obama is just as bought by wall street as any republican politician. I Dont support the Republicans OR the Democrats. They are both two sides of the same Corporate owned coin.

  • Actually Pat Robertson is plenty extreme in his positions. If you pay close attention, he's not criticizing the positions, he's criticizing the strategy. He has voiced agreement with extreme-right positions before and he also has an incentive to support the ones that line his pockets. His criticism is that the Republican candidates are parading those positions around a little too early and brazenly.

  • Seeing Pat get mad like that made my day.....

  • hey, whoa, Let em go for it. Let them express what they believe.

  • Hey Pat! You created this monster, so quit complaining!

  • @busboysanalogy lol if you are saying its only the republicans that will not compromise then youre just as out of touch as every politician in DC... >.<

  • Pat Robertson ftw.. Wtf?! Hell has officially frozen over for two seconds. Luckily it's Pat we're talking about. Right after he said this, I bet he got into another of his crazy rants.

  • Cenk's piggybacking on Robertson's quote. Robertson said "primary voters" are making candidates take extreme positions, and these positions will cost them the general election. He said nothing about Washington itself having moved to the right.

  • @rolfalmao The entire USA has moved radiaclly to the right though. Even here in europe we have moved slightly right over the last few decades, but not even close to as much as the US. In many ways the USA has more in common with Saudi Arabia than Europe right now.

  • When the nut says your crazy... your in trouble

  • @deadman12078, well, Hunter Thompson said "When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro". But I guess he wasn't talking about the Republicans, nor would he agree with most of them.

  • @deadman12078 you're
