It's an interesting dilemma. On one hand you don't execute people, but on the other hand, he is a present & future danger to the crew. You are on the other side of the galaxy, alone & under siege from hostiles, everywhere. Housing him depletes your resources. You have to feed & guard him 24hrs a day & he can do nothing to "earn" that treatment. He's dead weight & he's dangerous. Isn't it a greater sin to expose the crew to further & unending danger? How many more does he have to kill?
@sunnchilde Thing is, that later, Suder does infact help the Crew in multiple ways (genetic engeneering of plants for the hydroponical garden, and even when Voyager was taken by the kazon (If i'm not mistaken).Witrhout him Voyager would've been lost. You can never know how the future will develop.
@Valvallaria@sunnchilde It's amazing how science fiction can give us a window through which to view the truth (or potential truth) of our world. I think you're dead on regarding never knowing how the future will develop. I think if ppl were more willing to acknowledge, rather than deny, the darker aspects of our humanity, then humanity would be a much healthier beast than it has been historically and is now. Instead, it's often difficult to know where you REALLY stand even with close friends.
Tuvok and Lon are alike in how they are different. Tuvok has spent all his life learning to control and push away his emotions, because they were too extreme. therefore he can look at things coldly, and emotionlessly.
Lon has no empathy, never has, so he too can be cold and emotionless. and he possesses the violent nature Tuvok does, just doesn't control it.
Lon is a betazoid but is not a telepath. Tuvok has more telepathic abilities than Lon.
The Federation doesn't execute people, but they had a nice wall lamp on the Tantalus Penal Colony (Dagger of the Mind) that Sudor can stare at that would be sure to cure him of his hobby.

Suder is one of my favorite characters. I loved it when he died like a hero in Basics.
