there are things wrong in every sport... like jordy said, breaking horses too young to race is cruelty too. i am a barrel racer and a breakaway roper and i have never seen an animal get seriously injured at the hands of a person
i would just like to comment to say that i believe that the horse racing industry is much more crueller than rodeos. how you can sit there and bag rodeos when horse racing encourages horses to be broken in as young as 1 and start racing as 2. i personally have seen many 5year old ex race horses severlly crippled end up at the abatoirs and some as young as 2 perfectly fine there just because they cant run. theres at least 5 liscensed horse racing events a weekend
Anyone with a heart knows it's wrong to clothesline a baby animal, body slam it to the ground, tie its legs so it can't move, and drag it by the neck. If this were done to a puppy or kitten, the offender would understandably be charged with a crime, and likely be jailed. In rodeos, however, it's called calf roping, and supporters claim it's a sport. But the abuse of baby cows is just one of rodeo's cruelties.
Yes, you would think it would be as simple as people who love horses making a stand against this outrageous treachery towards animals. But it isn't. Please be active about this issue. Tell people. Educate.
This "sport" should be a shameful part of human history, not still happening. Especially not in Australia. Speak up people. The horses and cattle can't speak for themselves.
These cowboys are in the business of terrifying and ruining animals. It's a wonder the calves don't all get their necks and legs broken in this "sport." Horse lovers and animal lovers should rise up against this abuse.
save your local rodeo, shoot an animal rights activist..
