@Ninj4Juic3b0x Sadly, you can't plug it in directly. amBX needs drivers to function and there is simply no way to install those on your 360. What I did was run the sound output of my 360 through my computer, have my computer generate visuals on the sound input and have amBX generate lighting effects on those computer generated visuals.
If you want pretty lights while playing your 360 the easiest thing to do is to buy a Philips Ambilight or Aurea television.
No, you cannot connect any amBX-kit directly to your xbox 360. This is because the xbox 360 has no native support for amBX (and you cannot install the software on it). Thus, you have to work around it (by connecting your xbox 360 to the line-in of your computer and have the latter generate amBX-effects on the visualisation of WinAmp, as explained in the 'more info'.
Could you explane how you did this with a bit more detail? Cause I would like to do this myself, but I can't figure it out on my own. I don't exacly know what you mean with WinAmp streaming from linein:// to enable amBX. =S
Open WinAmp, go to your playlist, go to 'Add Files to Playlist' (the + symbol on most skins) followed by 'Add URL'. There, you type in 'linein://'. Make sure you have the sound output of your game console connected to the line-in of your computer. Now, start the visualisation (MilkDrop) and enable it in the amBX software.
MilkDrop will create effects based on the sound input from your game console, and the amBX software will create dynamic lighting based on the active visualisation.

Does this work for optical output on xbox or ps3 ?

If you can direct the optical output to the line-in of your computer; sure!
If your soundsystem has a line-out, you can direct that to your computer, you should have the same result.
